Who is this person running for mayor of our town? A perfect stranger. Just a short time ago, say 1900, every person in town would be a stranger to us. Every single item would be owned by somebody else. There would be no friends and no relatives you would recognize or who would recognize you. An entire population, almost alien to us, occupied the town for awhile. Then every single one moved on and the present generation gradually moved in and took over.
