at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 31, 2003, at his residence.
He was born March 22, 1931, in Big Springs Twp., Seneca
County, to Clarence August and Magdalena Mathilda (Tiell)
Weinandy, and they are deceased. He married Doris Louise Wagner
June 20, 1953, in St. Peter's Catholic Church, Alvada; and
she survives.
Other survivors include: two sons, Donald Lloyd and Rick
Allen both of Alvada; a daughter, Pamela Painter of Fostoria;
seven grandchildren; and three brothers, Ralph P. and Luke
e. of Alvada, and Cyril A. of Tiffin.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in St. Peter's Catholic
Church, Alvada, with burial in Seneca Memory Gardens.
Visitation will be 2-9 p.m. Monday at the Hannay-Traunero
Funeral Home.
WALL, ROBERT P.
OLIVE HILL, Ky. -- Funeral services for Robert
Phillip Wall, 69, of Grayson, Ky., and formerly of
County Highway 79, Forest, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday
at Globe Funeral Chapel, Olive Hill, Ky. Burial will
be in Wilson Cemetery, Dry Branch, Ky., with military rites.
Visitation will be held from 2-8 p.m. today at
Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, Carey, and from 4-8
p.m. Wednesday at Globe Funeral Chapel.
Mr. Wall died at 12:16 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 1,
2003 at Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus.
He was born Feb. 17, 1933 in Rushville, Ind. to
Ora and Iona Marie (Uslar) Wall. He married Loretta
Wilson on Nov. 24, 1956, and she survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Robert Junior of
Grayson, Ky.; Vernon Russell of Fostoria; Kenneth Roy
of Forest; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two
sisters, Emma Haines, Fort Collins, Colo.; Betty Bender,
Cincinnati; and two brothers, Martin of Camdon, Tenn.; and
William of Paris, Tenn.
He was preceded in death by a grandchild.
Mr. Wall retired in 1995 from National Lime and
Stone Co., Carey, after 27 years.
He was a veteran of the Korean War.

Alfred L. Welly, 78, of West Crocker St., Fostoria, died
4:52 a.m. Monday, Feb. 10, 2003, at Blanchard Valley Regional
Health Center in Findlay.
He was born June 6, 1924, in Seneca County, to Joseph
and Matilda (Kirian) Welly. He married Doris J. (Drenning)
Welly on Sept. 30, 1946, in Fostoria. She survives
in Fostoria.
Also surviving are: a son, James A. Welly of Fostoria;
three daughters, Marlene Tussinger of Kokomo, Ind., Pamela
Kessler of Carey and Mary Rader of Fostoria; three sisters,
Mary Doogs, Florence Foltz, both of Fostoria, and Emma Welch
of Frederickstown; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren;
six step grandchildren and none step great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the Harrold-Floriana
Funeral Home in Fostoria. Burial will be in Knollcrest Gardens
near Arcadia.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the
funeral home.
WADE, HARRY L.
Harry L. Wade, 85, of 348 Liberty St., Fostoria,
died at 11:30 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 23, 2003, at his residence.
He was born Jan. 21, 1918 in Fostoria to Harry
L. and Helen S. (Poe) Wade. He married Kathryn M.
Smith on Oct. 4, 1941 at St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria,
and she survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Thomas H. of Warren;
Dennis J. of Kokomo, Ind.; Gary M. of Fostoria; four
daughters, Kathleen M. Ward, Lima; Mrs. Joseph (Linda C.)
Burkart, Vermilion; Mrs. James (Barbara J.) Perry,
Columbus, Ind.; Mrs. Richard (Ellen K.) Reinhart, Oakland
Township, Michigan; 21 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren;
and a sister, Mrs. Stan (Margaret) Moyer, Toledo.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Helene
Thomas, Betty Richards and Phyllis Jean Wade.
Mr. Wade retired in 1982 as a purchasing agent
at Fostoria Industries after 46 years. He began his
career at Fostoria Pressed Steel.
He was a U.S. Army Air Force veteran of World
War II, serving as a technical sergeant, radio/gunner.
He flew 55 missions in a B25 in the African European Campaign.
He was a 1935 graduate of Fostoria High School.
He was a member of St. Wendelin Catholic Church,
American Legion Post 73, and a third degree member
of Knights of Columbus Council 1197, all in Fostoria. He
was a former member of Fostoria Toastmasters.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated
at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in
the parish cemetery, with military rites by United
Veterans of Fostoria.
Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.
Tuesday at Hoening Funeral Home, Fostoria, where a
Christian wake service will be held at 7:30 p.m. A rosary
will be recited at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church.

Eugene Wagner, 70, of 6560 CR 6, New Riegel, died Wednesday,
April 9, 2003, in St. Catherine's Care Center of Fostoria.
He was born May 13, 1932, in Clyde, to the late Dewey and
Dolly (Waldon) Wagner.
Surviving are: children, Brenda Ludwig of Tiffin, David
E. Wagner of Upper Sandusky, Keith A. Wagner of Fostoria,
John E. Wagner of LaGrange, Ga., Chris J. Wagner of Tiffin,
Karla J. Brown of Toledo, Ricky D. Wagner of Sandusky, Jackie
L. Wagner of Tiffin and Craig D. Wagner of Nevada, Ohio;
21 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and seven step
grandchildren; and three sisters, Wilma Holmer of Titusville,
Pa., Bernadine Hoover and Dorothy Wagner, both of Clyde.
Mr. Wagner was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Hoffmann-Gottfried
Funeral Home in Tiffin. Burial will be in Seneca Memory
Gardens where graveside services will be conducted by the
United Veterans Council.

FOSTORIA -- Alverta R. Yates, 92, of 821 Williston Ave.,
Fostoria, died at 11:45 p.m. Tuesday, April 22, 2003, in
Winebrenner Village in Findlay.
She was born June 4, 1910, in Risingsun, to the late George
C. and Dora E. (Echelbarger) Ries. On Aug. 31, 1928, in
Bowling Green, she married John E. Yates. He died June 19,
1988.
Surviving are: three daughters, Betty L. Bulile and Doris
M. Kuntz, both of Fostoria, and Sue Ellen Wimmer, of Overpeck,
Ohio; 25 grandchildren and 47 great-grandchildren; a sister,
Helen Marie Bibich of Michigan; and a step son, Donald Vannest
Sr., of Bellevue.
The funeral will be 1 p.m. Friday at the Hoening Funeral
Home in Fostoria. Burial will be in Knollcrest Gardens Cemetery
in Arcadia.

Ward, Evelyn M.
Evelyn M. Ward, 78, 46 Elmwood St., Tiffin, died at 3:50
a.m. Wednesday, May 7, 2003, in the Autumnwood Care Center,
Tiffin.
She was born Aug. 4, 1924, in Fostoria, to the late Asa
and Carrie (Povenmire) Daugherty. She first married Charles
Payne on March 25, 1943. He died on Nov. 20, 1946. She then
married Herman Ward on Nov. 29, 1947, at St. Wendelin Catholic
Church in Fostoria. He survives in Tiffin.
Other survivors include: two sons, Charles (Mary Ann) Payne
of Tiffin and Richard (Shirley) Ward of Fostoria; four daughters,
Shirley J. Aichholz of New Washington, Peg (Jerry) Baker
of Tiffin and Pat (Steve) Shilling and Cindy Frantz, both
of Vanlue; 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren;
three brothers, Asa Daugherty Jr. of Fostoria, Everett Daugherty
of Austin, Texas, and Robert Daugherty of Bowling Green.
Preceding her in death were a son-in-law, Harry Aichholz;
great-granddaughter, Devin Shilling; two brothers, Roy and
Richard Daugherty; and two sisters, Mildred Shultz and Helen
Gaertner.
A homemaker, Mrs. Ward was a Fostoria High School graduate.
She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Tiffin and
its Rosary Altar Society. She also was an avid Western square
dancer and an avid bingo and card player.
A funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 10, in
St. Mary Catholic Church, with the Rev. Robert Dendinger
officiating. The rosary will be recited 15 minutes prior
to the funeral Mass at the church. Burial will be in St.
Mary Catholic Cemetery.

WRIGHT, Bert E Sr., 73, of 815 W. Main Cross, Findlay passed
away at 7:30 p.m. Monday, May 19, 2003 at his residence.
He was born August 13, 1929 to Moses and Della (Betz) Wright.
He first married Idella and they were later divorced, he
then married Jean Moore, August 15, 1975 and she survives
in Findlay.
Also surviving are one son, Bert E. (Molly) Wright, Jr.,
North Baltimore, two stepsons, Anthony (Susie) Mischke,
Jallejo, Calf., and Timothy (Deb) Mischke, Suisun, Calf.,
one daughter, Beth (Fred) Arredondo, Fostoria, two step-daughters,
Christina Long, Findlay and Elizabeth (Jerry) Vanderhoff,
Findlay. Mr. Wright also is survived by eleven grandchildren
and five great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were two sons, Michael Dean and
Scott Allen Wright, two brothers, Daniel and Homer Wright
and two sisters, Margaret Sands and Helen E. Wright.
Mr. Wright was employed at Cooper Tire for thirty-eight
plus years. He was a member of the Cooper Fish Club and
was an avid gardener.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, May
22, 2003 at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME with the Reverend
Terry McBeath presiding. Visitation will be Wednesday from
5-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Van Buren
Cemetery, Van Buren, Ohio.

Nicholas Reed Welly was stillborn at 2:34 p.m. Sunday,

Welly of Kansas; a brother, Brett Welly and a sister, Amanda
Welly, both at home; maternal grandparents, Edward J. and
Marge (Baker) Reinhart of Kansas; paternal grandparents,
James D. and Barbara J. (Bauer) Welly of Carey; and maternal
great-grandmother, Mrs. Florian Bertha (Nye) Reinhart of
Fostoria.
Services will be private. Burial will be in Scott-Trinity
Cemetery in Sandusky County.

Wise, Roger V.
Roger V. Wise, 77, of 1041 Gerlock Drive, Fostoria, died
quietly Wednesday afternoon at Independence House, Fostoria,
after a nearly year-long battle with cancer. Roger was known,
throughout his life, for his great sense of humor. Even
during his last days, he tried to cheer up those who came
to visit him.
He was born June 29, 1925, in Willard, to the late Leonard
S. and Mary Lenora (Stoll) Wise. On Aug. 11, 1951, he married
Virginia "Ginger" (Savage) Wise in Trinity United
Methodist Church, Lima, Ohio, and she survives in Fostoria.
Also surviving are: a son, Timothy R. Wise of Fostoria;
a sister, Mrs. Isaiah (Margerie) Predieri; and a grandchild.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Dean W. Wise.
Mr. Wise retired as vice president of Seneca Radio Corporation
(WFOB), Fostoria, and Wood Television Corporation, Bowling
Green, Ohio. He recently worked part-time at Ballreich Furniture,
Fostoria.
His memberships included: Wesley United Methodist Church,
Fostoria; a graduate member of the Fostoria University Club;
Fostoria Footlighters; Sandusky Valley Astronomy; and the
American Heart Association Board of Seneca County.
He was formerly active in the Republican Party and was
a member of the National Association of Broadcasters. He
was a graduate of New Haven High School in 1943 and Ohio
State University in 1951. He received a bachelor of arts
degree in communications and was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving
during World War II.
Roger was a classmate of Mel Murray at Ohio State University,
and when Mel was named general manager of WFOB-FM in 1949,
one of his first moves was to hire Roger as commercial manager
and sportscaster.
He assisted Mel in obtaining an A.M. license in 1952, joined
Mel in broadcasting BGSU football and basketball games,
became manager of WFOB's Bowling Green studio and later
manager of Wood-TV, the B.G. cablevision company founded
by WFOB.
A Celebration of Life memorial service will take place
at 2:30 p.m. Monday, June 30, 2003, in Wesley United Methodist
Church, Fostoria, where the family will receive friends
following the service in the church hall. The Rev. Ronald
G. Payne will officiate.

Jay Eliot Wernick, age 57 years, passed away July 30, 2003,
at the Ashton Rehabilitation Center in Chamblee, GA.
He was born September 14, 1945, in Fostoria, Ohio, to Joseph
H. and Yetta (Shiff) Wernick. He was a 1963 graduate of
Fostoria High School and a 1967 graduate of the Ohio State
University.
Jay was an Army Intelligence Officer and was discharged
with the rank of Captain. He was awarded 24 decorations,
medals, badges, commendations, citations and campaign ribbons.
As a civilian his positions were also in intelligence. He
was with Aeronautical Intelligence Command and Information,
St. Louis, MO, Foreign Science and Technology Center, Charlottesville,
VA, Elmendorf Air Force Base, Anchorage, AK, Fort Bragg,
Fayetteville, NC, Aberdeen Proving Grounds, Aberdeen, MD,
and Ford Mead, Maryland.
Survivors include his mother, Yetta Wernick; brother, Alex
Wernick, Alpharetta, GA; niece, Michelle Shadburn and Lisa
Nierenberg, Evergreen, CO; nephew, Jason Wernick, Atlanta,
GA, and Georgia and Jeffrey Wernick, Nashville, TN. Preceded
in death by his father, Joseph Wernick, and grandparents,

Wenzke, Louis E.
Louis E. Wenzke, 87, of 406 Mt. Vernon Dr., Fostoria, died
at 1:50 p.m. Monday at Good Shepherd Home in Fostoria.
He was born Aug. 2, 1916, in Celina, to the late Joseph
and Theresa (Bertke) Wenzke. He married Eleanor C. Gants
Jan. 1, 1938, in the Cathedral of Assumption in Louisville,
Ky. She survives in Fostoria.
Also surviving are: two sons, Dennis Wenzke and Thomas
Wenzke, both of Fostoria; a daughter, Judith Wenzke of Fostoria;
10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; and a brother,
Frank Wenzke M.D. of Dayton.
He was preceeded in death by a son James, five brothers
and two sisters.
Mr. Wenzke retired in 1981 after 38 years as assistant
plant manager from Union Carbide Fostoria and two years
as manager in Singapore.
He was past president of the following St. Vincent DePaul
Society, the Fostoria Junior League Baseball Association,
Fostoria Kinwanis Club, and the St. Anthony of Padua Fraternity
of the Secular Franciscans, Fostoria
He was a member of St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoriawhere
he served as Eucharistic Minister, and a Lector. A Honorary
Life member of 3rd degree Knights of Columb8s Council #1197,
and 4th degree Fr. Kirsch Assembly #845, Fostoria and past
Scout Master of Troop 450.
Mr Wenzke organized and directed the Immaculate Heart of
Mary rosary Making Guild, which made and distributed rosaries
worldwide. He organized and carried out the Pilgrim Virgin
Statue program at St. Wendelin, and was active in the Church's
sports activities and coaching CYO basketball. He served
as a agency Board member of the United Way, and the American
Red Cross boare, was a Certified First aid Instructor during
WWll.
Lou was active in bridge and wrote a bridge column for
the Review times for several years. ACertified Dupoicate
Bridge Director for the ACBL, and licensed bridge teacher
and member of the American bridge Teachers Association.
He was instruental in fund-raising for the Tony Lucadello
Field.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday in
St. Wendelin Catholic Church, where a Rosary will be prayed
at 10 a.m. Burial will follow the funeral lunch in St. Wendelin
Cemetery.
A Funeral Luncheon will follow the Mass in the Church Parish
Hall and Burial Committal services will follow the funeral
lunch in St. Wendelin Cementery.

She was born Oct. 17, 1919, in 56 Arkansas, Ark., to the
late Jake and Laura Bell (Cobel) Witt. On Dec. 24, 1939,
she married Howard Wooldridge, who is deceased.
Survivors include: a daughter, Patricia Howell of Tiffin;
eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.
A son, Howard Wooldridge; seven brothers and two sisters,
also are deceased.
Mrs. Wooldridge, a member of the Church of Christ and the
Eastern Star, was a truck stop owner and LPN nurse.

Mr. Vargas died at 8:50 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 19, 2003 at Fostoria
Community Hospital.
Surviving are his wife, Sally May Vargas, Fostoria; a daughter,
Dolores F. Vargas, Fostoria; a son, Joseph Jr. of Avon Lake;
and four sisters, Mary Delgado and Vera Torres, both of
Fostoria; Rita Latvis, Fremont; and Mary Jo Gaetano, Wooddale,
Ill.

Vassalle, Richard A.
Richard A. Vassalle, 76, 203 W. Davis St., Tiffin, died
Friday, Oct. 24, 2003, at his home.
He was born Jan. 17, 1927, in Tiffin, to the late Joseph
and Mary (Famulare) Vassalle. He first married Virenia Wertz
Jan. 17, 1948, who died April 21, 1966. He then married
Marcia Jacobs in Port Clinton Aug. 13, 1966. She survives.
Also surviving are 11 children: Joseph (Estella) Vassalle
of Tiffin, Richard J. Vassalle of Toledo, Dominic (Diane)
Vassalle of Fostoria, Patrick Vassalle of Sandusky, Mary
(Richard) Bridinger of Bloomville, Daniel Vassalle of Wauseon,
Antonio (Lori) Vassalle of San Juan Capistrano, Calif.,
Michael Vassalle of Toledo, Annette Vassalle of Republic,
Timothy (Connie) Vassalle of Republic and Torrie (Dean)
Stahl of Tiffin; 25 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren;
a brother, Dominic (Jean) Vassella of Altus, Okla.; and
two sisters, Philomena Keller and Antionette Price, both
of Tiffin.
Mr. Vassalle retired in 1986 from American Standard after
43 years of service as a ware hustler. He enjoyed Cleveland
Indians baseball, Cleveland Browns, Notre Dame and OSU football
and NASCAR. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in World War
II.
Visitation is 2-6 p.m. today at the Hoffmann-Gottfried
Funeral Home.
A funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 27, at St.
Mary Catholic Church with the Rev. Richard Dunn officiating.
A Rosary service will be 10:15 a.m. Monday at the church.
Entombment will be in Seneca Memory Garden Mausoleum, with
military services conducted by the United Veterans Council.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions
be made to Heartland Hospice of Tiffin.
Williams, Glenwood R. "Glenn"
FOSTORIA -- Glenwood R. "Glenn" Williams, 85,
of 905 Shepherd Drive, Fostoria, died at 1:15 a.m. Sunday,
Oct. 26, 2003 at the Toledo Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at
Hoening Funeral Home, Fostoria, Larry Manley officiating.
Burial will be in Fountain Cemetery, Fostoria, where United
Veterans of Fostoria will conduct Military Honors.
Following the cemetery committal services the family will
receive guests at the Fostoria Elks Lodge for a reception
to continue to celebrate Glenn's life.
Visitation will be held from 5:30-8 p.m. Tuesday and an
hour before services Wednesday at the funeral home.
Mr. Williams was born June 8, 1918 in Fostoria to Earl
F. and Basil (Hiser) Williams. He married Mildred L. Holden
on March 7, 1939 in Fostoria and she survives in Fostoria.
Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Ronald (Gena M.)
Boley, Minster; and Bonnie L. Kenner, Fostoria; two grandchildren,
Leah Altman and Glenda Kenner-Aspery; and two great-grandchildren,
Morgan Aspery and MacKensey Kenner-Aspery.
Preceding him in death is a brother, Vincent.
Mr. Williams was a retired Lt. Commander in the US Navy,
serving from 1943-66. He also owned and operated G.R. Williams
Dental Office, Fostoria, from 1956-85, and worked at Autolite,
Fostoria, from 1941-3.
He was a member of Grace United Church, Fostoria, Fostoria
Elks Lodge 935, and was a member and past president of the
Ohio North Central Dental Association. He earned a BA from
Miami University and a DDS from Ohio State University. He
enjoyed and was a gifted woodworker, making furniture and
receiving recognition from wood workers magazines for his
fine wooden bowls.

Yost, Gerald Herman
Gerald Herman Yost, 81, of 394 Harley St., Tiffin, died
at 4:08 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, 2003, at St. Vincent Mercy
Medical Center in Toledo.
He was born March 9, 1922, in Fostoria, to the late Ignatius
I. and Veronica H. (Mangett) Yost. He married Lillian Walliser
Jan. 20, 1943. She preceded him in death Aug. 30, 1974.
He then married Julia Eaton Oct. 11, 1975, in Tiffin. She
survives.
Also surviving are: two stepsons, Thomas L. Eaton of Republic
and Robert Eaton of Tiffin; two daughters, Jeanette M. Overmyer
of Bettsville and Carolyn M. (Howard) Mathias of Tiffin;
three grandchildren, Neil and Daniel Overmyer, and Christopher
Mathias; 43 step grandchildren; and a sister, Rita Knaup
of Tiffin.
He was preceded in death by: two stepsons, John and David
Eaton; a step grandson, Timothy Storeholder; four brothers,
Marcus, Cletus, Leonard and Eugene Yost; and four sisters,
Gertrude Clouse, Lenora Yost, Mary Elizabeth Hess and Isabelle
Helle.
Mr. Yost retired in 1985 after 39 years as a machinist
and maintenance supervisor at General Electric Co. in Tiffin.
He enjoyed bowling.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Eagles,
VFW and the Moose.
A funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2003, at
St. Joseph Catholic Church, with a Rosary service 15 minutes
prior to the funeral Mass. Burial will be in St. Joseph
Cemetery with military rites conducted by the United Veterans
Council.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 3, at

Wagner, Clarence J
Funeral services for Clarence J. "Clancy" Wagner,
77, of 10241 Parkwood Drive, will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday
at Kirkpatrick-Behnke Funeral Home, the Rev. Dan Young officiating.
Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, with military rites
by Hancock Veterans Memorial Squad.
Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today at
the funeral home, where DAV memorial service will be held
at 6 p.m. and a Masonic service will be held at 7 p.m. today.
Mr. Wagner died at 8:15 p.m. Monday, Nov. 3, 2003 at his
residence.
He was born July 16, 1926 in Lancaster to Noah and Anna
(Guysinger) Wagner. He married Stefania Gemski in 1947 and
they divorced. He then married Mary Dean McDonald on June
12, 1965 and she survives.
Also surviving are four sons, Rick of Fostoria; Patrick
(Tammy) McDonald, Findlay; Shawn of Findlay; and Shannon
of McComb; two daughters, Linda Schwartz, North Benton;
and Mrs. Rick (JoAnn) Martin, Findlay; two brothers, William
Silvers, Blanchard, Okla.; and Jerry Silvers, Findlay; 13
grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Preceding him in death is a daughter, Alice "Elsie"
Jones.
Mr. Wagner was formerly a Findlay Police Officer and retired
as a truck driver from Florida Crush Stone.
He was a US Army Air Corps veteran of WWII and a survivor
of Iwo Jima. He was a life member of DAV Buddy Chapter 43
and a proud part of the wheelchair color guard of DAV Buddy
43. He was also a member of Scottish Rite Valley of Toledo,
Shriners, Findlay Lodge 227 F and AM, and Faith Community
Church.

Waldron, Elsie
Elsie Waldron, 79, of East Fourth Street, Fostoria, died
at 2 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, 2003, in Mercy Hospital of Tiffin.
She was born Feb. 28, 1924, in Union County, Ohio, to the
late Robert and Ella (Bixler) McEntire. She married Melvin
L. Waldron Nov. 20, 1940, in Bowling Green. He died Nov.
15, 1995.
Surviving are: two sons, Richard Waldron of Fostoria and
David Waldron of Carey; two daughters, Jeanie Vitt and Diana
Cooper, both of Fostoria; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren;
a brother, Charles McEntire of Detroit, Mich.; and a sister,
Francis Ulsh of Fostoria.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Harrold-Floriana
Funeral Home in Fostoria. Burial will be in Fountain Cemetery,
Fostoria.

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. -- A memorial service for Nathan D.
Vance, 87, of Port Charlotte, Fla., will be held at 10 a.m.
Saturday at the Port Charlotte Chapel Kays-Ponger/Royal
Palm Funeral Home, Port Charlotte, Fla., the Rev. Daniel
P. Kolenda officiating.
Mr. Vance died Monday, Nov. 10, 2003 in Port Charlotte.
He was born Oct. 17, 1916 in Fostoria to Charles and Rilla
(Price) Vance.
Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Josephine Vance; two
daughters, Jane (Terry) Cook, Findlay; and Amy (Eric) Harrison,
Port Charlotte, Fla.; a son, Jim of Port Charlotte, Fla.;
three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death are two sons, Richard and Shane.
Mr. Vance was an Elementary School Principal in Fremont
and Fostoria, retiring in 1985, and moving to Port Charlotte,
Fla. He served his country in the US Coast Guard, was a
member of the VFW and attended Calvary Assembly of God.
Winkler, Marcella M.
FOSTORIA -- Funeral services for Marcella M. Winkler, 81,
of Fostoria, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Hoening

STONY RIDGE -- Funeral services for Thomas D. Vogel, 63,

Mr. Vogel died Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2003 at St. Luke's Hospital,
Maumee.
He was born Jan. 8, 1940 in Lima to Leonard and Oma (Dean)
Vogel.
Surviving are a daughter, Kathe (Jon) Sheldon, Bloomdale;
two stepsons, Curtus (Robin) Reynolds and Rick Reynolds,
both of Cleveland; a daughter-in-law, Teresa Vogel, Findlay;
companion, Patty A. Sattler, Perrysburg; and four grandchildren.
He was also close to his nieces and nephews in Georgia.
Preceding him in death are his parents, a son, Dwayne Thomas;
a brother, Leonard J.; and two sisters, Sharon and June
Vogel.
Mr. Vogel was a U.S. Marine Corps Veteran, a member of
the Rossford Eagles and the Moose Lodge, Fostoria. He retired
in 1997 from the Chrysler Corporation Plant, Perrysburg,
after 30 years of service.

FOSTORIA -- Funeral services for Joellen M. "Jo"
Youster, 69, of Fostoria, will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday

Mrs. Youster died at 1:45 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 29, 2003
at St. Vincent Medical Center, Toledo.
She was born Oct. 23, 1934 in LaCarne, Ohio, to George
and Myrtle (Flynn) St. John, both deceased. She married
Robert Youster in 1954, they are divorced, and he survives
in Kansas, Ohio.
Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. John (Roberta) Pelcher,
Macomb, Mich.; three sons, Greg "Chip" (Vickie)
of Fostoria; Jeff of Tiffin; and David of Findlay; and four
grandchildren, Kelly, Diana, Maxwell and Maranda.
Preceding her in death are two sisters, Isabelle Neatfeld
and Dolores Hart.
Mrs. Youster was employed at Black Cat Restaurant, Fostoria,
for over 25 years as a waitress and manager.
She was a 1952 graduate of Oak Harbor High School and was
a member of St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria.

Young Charles L.
Charles L. Young, 68, resident of St. Catherine's Care
Center, Findlay, died Sunday, Nov. 30, 2003, in St. Catherine's.
He was born Jan. 12, 1935, in Fostoria, to the late Howard
and Elsie (Spurgeon) Young. He married Dorothy Rhodes, April
2, 1955, in Hazzard, Ky. She survives in Upper Sandusky.
Also surviving are: five sons, Charles, Samuel and Randolph
Young, all of Fostoria, Rodney Young of Denver, Colo., and
Kevin Young of Tampa, Fla.; a daughter, Debra Young of Fostoria;
21 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; a brother, Howard
Young of Tiffin; a sister, Geneva Boggs of New Philadelphia.
Mr. Young was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Harrold-Floriana
Funeral Home in Fostoria.

Yantis, Ruth L.
Ruth L Yantis, 85, Findlay, died Thursday, Dec. 11, 2003,
at 10:55 p.m. at The Heritage.
Ruth was born Jan. 8, 1918 in Bairdstown to Melvin R. and
Edna R. (Mincks) Kinney. On July 3, 1942 she married Charles
W. Yantis and he died Dec. 1, 1994.
Surviving are a son, Larry C. of Findlay; three daughters,
Carol L. (Gary L.) Hindall, Connie S. (Chris) Courtney,
and Sandra J. Bryant, all of Findlay; a brother, Ronnie
Kinney, Maumee; a sister, Gertrude Schaffer, Findlay; and
a grandson, Troy Hindall, Fostoria.
Preceding her in death are a daughter, Lorene K. Yantis;
and a sister, Raylene Kinney.
Mrs. Yantis retired in 1984 from the Blanchard Valley Center
as a Matron. She also worked for a number of years at Findlay
City Schools as a cook. Ruth also was a member of the Stonebridge
Church of God.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at COLDREN-CRATES
FUNERAL HOME, the Rev. Charles Sandstrom, officiating. Burial
will be in Maple Grove Cemetery.

Wentz, Paul L.
FOSTORIA -- Funeral services for Paul L. Wentz, 93, of
County Road 216, Fostoria, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday
at Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home, Fostoria, the Rev. Edmond
Zickefoose officiating. Burial will be in Fountain Cemetery,
Fostoria.
Visitation will be held from 2-5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral

Mr. Wentz died at 2:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 25, 2003 at
Fostoria Community Hospital.
He was born Oct. 20, 1910 in Wyandot County to Clement
and Elizabeth Morgan Wentz. He married Evelyn E. Shultz
on Dec. 24, 1933 in Toledo and she died Jan. 28, 1974. He
then married Ruth Karnes-Horner March 8, 1974 in Fostoria
and she died May 26, 1995.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. John Elizabeth (Betty)
Haley, Mount Vernon, Ohio; Mrs. Jerry (Paula Kay) Leeson,
Fostoria; and Mrs. Charles (Karen Sue) Wilson, Rockford,
Ill.; two sons, Craig and Paul Eric (Lou Ann), both of Fostoria;
eleven grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death are two sisters and a brother.
Mr. Wentz was owner and operator of Willow's Drive In and
the Picture Frame Shop in Fostoria. Paul was also a holder
of three U.S. Patents.
He was a member of the National Rifle Association and the
Men's Full Gospel Fellowship.
