James C. Burgess, 68, of 8702 W. SR 18, Fostoria, died at his
home Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2003,
He was born May 12, 1934, in Blakley, Kanawha County, W.Va.,
to the late Toby Clarence and Pearl Ann (White) Burgess.
Survivors include: two sons, Charles and David Burgess, both
of Sedalia, Mo.; three daughters, Tracy Burgess of Tiffin, Melody
Burgess of Princeton, Ill. and Mrs. Dwight (Peggy) Kuhn of Grand
Ledge, Mich.; four sisters, Mrs. Harold (Corine) Cook of Clyde,
Mrs. Orville (Clarine) Hoffman of New Lexington, Ohio and Mrs.
James (Maxine) Davis and Darlene Michales, both of Tiffin; three
brothers, Clifford Burgess of Tiffin, Cleve Burgess of New Lexington
and Charles "Paul" Burgess of West Virginia; 17 grandchildren
and 16 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, James Burgess; a sister, Christine
Church and a brother, Clarence "Jr." Burgess.
Mr. Burgess, a member of the Intercontinental Church of God,
retired from the Army National Guard. He served in the U.S. Air
Force 1953-1967 as staff sergeant, then served in the U.S. Army
and Army National Guard until 1995. He also worked at Kelsey Hayes
and Quincy Doors in the 1980s..
The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, in
the Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home, with the Rev. John Halstead
officiating. Burial will be in Fairmont Cemetery, with military
graveside services conducted by the United Veterans Council.
Visitation will be 9-11 a.m. Saturday at the Hoffmann-Gottfried
Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or a charity
of the donor's choice.
Alice M. (Powelson) Bushman, 91, died 9:45 p.m. at Colonial
Nursing Home in Rockford.
She was born on Dec. 22, 1911, in Bettsville, to Warren P.
and Eurie Mae Feasel Lynch. They are deceased.
She married Lionell E. Powelson on April 27, 1931. He preceded
her in death on March 18 1970.
Surviving are: two daughters, Patricia "Pat" (Richard) Bowe,
Sr. and Jean (Larry) Saunders, both of Lima; three brothers, Richard
Lynch of Mesa, Ariz., Jack Lynch of Fostoria and William Lynch
of Covington, Ky.; four sisters, Hazel Hanson of Gibsonburg, Beulah
Dumm of Springfield, Mo., Jean Lutz of Old Fort and Shirley Burkhart
of Tiffin; eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her second husband, Alfred Bushman,
a son, Tommy Lee Powelson; a brother, Robert Lynch and a great
grandchild.
Mrs. Bushman worked on the assembly line at Westinghouse Corp.
and before that was a clerk at the Barr Hotel. She was a member
of Full Gospel Tabernacle.
The funeral will be 1:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 24, 2003, at the
Chiles and Sons-Laman Lewis Chapel in Lima. Burial will be in
Memorial Park.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the Lewis Memorial
Chapel, Lima.
William P. Banks, 76, of North Countyline Street,
Fostoria, died at 3:20 p.m. Monday, Jan. 27, 2003 at
his residence.
He was born Nov. 21, 1926 in Hamilton, Mo. to William
and Rosa (Bratcher) Banks. He married Barbara E. Carter
on Oct. 12, 1953 in Fostoria, and she preceded him in death.
Surviving are a daughter, Irene Banks, Fostoria; two
grandchildren; a sister, Rozella Dennis, Toledo.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Roy, Clarence,
Robert and Richard; four sisters, Lucille, Ruth, Mildred
and Christine.
Mr. Banks retired in 1991 from Seneca Wire Co.
He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II.
Memorial services will be held at a later date. Burial
will be in Knollcrest Gardens, east of Findlay.
Paige Annette Bays, infant daughter of Robert Bays Sr.
and Dodi Garcia, Tioga Avenue, Findlay, died at 5:34 a.m.
Tuesday, March 4, 2003, at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center
in Toledo.
She was born Monday, March 3, 2003, in St. Vincent Mercy
Medical Center, Toledo.
Surviving are her parents, Robert Bays Sr. and Dodi Garcia
of Findlay; maternal grandmother, Sharon K. Garcia of Fostoria;
a sister, Alyson K.Bays, at home; and two stepbrothers, Robert
Bays, Jr. and Shane Bays, both of Findlay.
Arthur Bryant "Art" Burdett, 82, of 4027 N. US Rte. 23,
Fostoria, died at 9:58 p.m. Tuesday, March 4, 2003, in Independence
House.
He was born Aug. 4, 1920, in Marion, to the late William
Archie and Nellie Belle (Bryant) Burdett. He made married
Lucille L. Hammer on April 10, 1942. She died on July
7, 1986. He then married Elva M. Rasp-Hammer on Sept.
30, 1986. She survives in Fostoria.
Also surviving are: two sons, Arthur W. Burdett of Tucson,
Ariz. and Donald E. Burdett of Alexandria, Va.; two daughters,
Linda Radcliff and Amber Wilson, both of Fostoria; two step-daughters,
Carol A. Stahl of Risingsun and Ellen F. Groves of Fostoria;
two sisters, Dorothy Fuerst of Trenton, Fla. and Thelma
Simpson of Lithia, Fla.; four grandchildren, four step-grandchildren;
four great-grandchildren and four step great-grandchildren.
Mr. Burdett was a U.S. Army Air Force veteran of World
War II.

Burch, 89, of Fort Wayne, Ind., and formerly of

Mrs. Burch died at 11:45 p.m. Wednesday, March
5, 2003 at Parkview Medical Center, Fort Wayne,
Ind.
She was born April 23, 1913 in Van Wert County
to William and Alice (Pettiford) Brown. She married
Jethro Burch on Oct. 31, 1931 and he preceded her in death.
Surviving are seven daughters, Barbara Long,
Patrick Air Force Base, Fla.; Betty Ann Garnes, Findlay;
Lela Crawford, Toledo; Lois Burch, Youngstown; Carolyn
Jones and Catherine Burch, both of Fort Wayne, Ind.;
and Mrs. Phillip (Deborah) Weiker, Sylvania; a son, Jethro
of Springfield; 30 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren;
and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a stepson, Frederick
Burch; seven brothers; and two sisters.
Mrs. Burch was a homemaker. She retired from
General Electric, Tiffin, after 25 years.
She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, Fostoria.
She was a member of NAACP, serving as a former
Fostoria branch president, Ohio state president and
national board member; and was the first member of the
NAACP Regional Hall of Fame. She also was a board
member of African-American National Museum in Wilberforce,
where a doll with her image is displayed.
Mrs. Burch was a former chief steward, vice
president and negotiator for International United Electrical
Workers Union; and former president of the Wood, Seneca,
Ottawa, and Sandusky County Headstart Board.

United Veterans of Fostoria.

Mr. Bemis died at 6:15 a.m. Tuesday, March
18, 2003 at Independence House, Fostoria.
He was born Oct. 13, 1925 in Haskins to Gordon
and Bessie (Cramer) Bemis. He married Carolyn Ruth
Smith on July 27, 1947 in Benton Ridge, and she survives.
Also surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Ron
(Linda) Amrine and Mrs. Michael (Jennie) Bowe, both
of Risingsun; and Mrs. Charles (Beth) Baker, Kansas,
Ohio; seven grandchildren; a step-grandchild; four
great-grandchildren; and a brother, Richard of Fostoria.
Mr. Bemis designed infrared ovens in the engineering
department at Fostoria Industries.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II,
serving in the South Pacific.
He was a former member of Wesley United Methodist
Church, Fostoria.
Edward G. Behm, 75, 2944 S. SR 53, Tiffin, died
Wednesday, March 19, 2003.
He was born March 3, 1928, in Tiffin, to the late
William and Clara (McConnell) Behm. His wife, La Donna
(Boes) Behm, whom he married Nov. 27, 1948, in St.
Joseph Catholic Church, Tiffin, died April 28, 1997.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Richard (Sharon)
Borkosky of Fostoria; a son, Dennis L. (Janel) Behm
of Tiffin; five grandchildren, Paula Borkosky of Fostoria,
Beth Borkosky of San Antonio, Texas and Greg, Patrick
and Kelly Behm, all of Findlay; a brother, William
Behm of Tiffin; and a sister, Mrs. Frank (Mary) Parker
of McCutchenville,.
A sister, Molly Welter, is deceased.
A 1947 Calvert High School graduate, Mr. Behm was
a maintenance technician for Decker Furniture and
former owner of Golden Acre Turkey Farm. An avid fisherman
and boater, he was a member of Sandusky River Coon
Hunters Association and St. Joseph Catholic Church.
A funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March
22, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, with the Rev. James
K. Say officiating. The rosary will be prayed at 10:45
a.m. Saturday at the church. Burial will be in St.
Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation is 5-8 p.m. today, March 21, in the
Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home.
M. Ruth Borkosky, 87, of Fostoria, formerly of
Punta Gorda, Fla., died at 7:56 p.m. Tuesday, March
25, 2003, at Independence House in Fostoria.
She was born Feb. 9, 1916, in Seneca Co., to
Warren and Nancy (Wolfarth) Adams. Both parents
are deceased. She married Harold L. Borkosky on
Feb. 9, 1937, in Seneca Co. He died on Feb. 21,
1985.
Survivors include: two daughters, Mrs. John (Betty
J.) Tobin, Findlay, and Mrs. Sam (Sue) Elliot, Ypsilanti,
Mich; one son, Richard E. (Sharon) Borkosky, Fostoria;
ten grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, several
step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren;
and two sisters, Wilmer Recker and Carol Cooper,
both of Tiffin.
She was also preceded in death by: one daughter,
Janet Obenour; one brother, Donald Adams; and two
sisters, Eunice Brendle and Florence Lott.
Mrs. Borkosky was a homemaker. She was a 1934
graduate of Fostoria High School and was an avid
bowler and enjoyed cooking.
Private graveside services and burial will be
on Friday at Fountain Cemetery, Fostoria.
Visitation will also be private.
Public memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday,
April 19, 2003, at Mann-Hare Funeral Home in Fostoria.
MESA, Ariz. -- Artis-Yvonne "Bonnie"
Brandeberry, 78, of Mesa, Ariz., and formerly
of Fostoria, died Wednesday, March 19, 2003
in Mesa.
She was born April 18, 1924 near Arcadia
to John and Lulu (Dick) Damon. She married Ray
A. Brandeberry on Dec. 21, 1945 in Arcadia,
and he survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Terry and
Jon, both of Fostoria; a daughter Nikki Kimbel,
Phoenix; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren;
and a sister, Donna June King, Alvada.
She was preceded in death by two brothers,
Wayne and Reed Damon.
Mrs. Brandeberry retired as manager
of Lane's Drug Store.
She was a 1942 graduate of Arcadia High
School.
O. Eugene Baugher, of Bradenton, FL, formerly
of Tiffin and Fostoria, died Monday, March 31,
2003 in Manatee Memorial Hospital following
a brief illness. He was born Jan. 28, 1923 in
Tiffin to the late Glenn Carson and Dollie Ann
(Sargent) Baugher. He married Esther Kinn, they
later divorced. He then married Anita Waldron
in Florida, she is also deceased.
Survived by: two sons, James "Jim" Baugher
of Tucker, GA, and Bruce Baugher of Palmetto,
FL; a sister, Vivian Blankenship of Tiffin;
a brother, Richard Baugher of Tiffin; a longtime
companion, Audrey Fletcher of Bradenton, FL;
and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Baugher was a World War II Veteran.

She was born June 11, 1927 in Bloom

M. Apple on Jan. 3, 1948, and he preceded
her in death.

Ruth Mae Anderson, 94, formerly of Jackson Street, Fostoria, resident of
Autumnwood Care Center in Tiffin, died at 5 p.m. Saturday at the care
center.
She was born March 16, 1909, in Wood County to Edward and Stella (Stewart)
Shumaker.
She first married Gilbert J. Fruth and they divorced, she then married
William Anderson. He died June 28, 1975.
Surviving are: a son, William E. (Sue) Fruth of Tiffin; a grandson, Scott
(Kristin) Fruth of Ypsilanti, Mich.; granddaughters, Mrs. Karl "Kourtney" Bame
of Republic and Mrs. Mike "Deanne" Gase of Wixon, Mich.; and a sister-in-law,
Doris Shumaker of Tiffin.
Preceding her in death were: her parents, husband, brother, Harold
Shumaker, sisters, Kathryn Shiley and Jane Weber.
Mrs. Anderson was a homemaker as well as a clerk at the Preis Store in
Fostoria for many years.
She was a member of First Church of the Nazarene in Fostoria and the
Fostoria Chapter 94 Order of the Eastern Star. Mrs. Anderson was a 1927
graduate of Fostoria High School.

James G. Bauman Jr., 26, of 29 W. Perry St., Tiffin, died Tuesday,
April 15, 2003, in Tiffin.
He was born Aug. 22, 1976, in Fostoria, to James G. and Barbara
J. (Eblin) Bauman. His father is deceased.
On April 15, 1996, he married Bobbie J. (Risner) Bauman in
Tiffin. She survives in Tiffin.
Also surviving are: his mother, Barbara Bauman, and boyfriend,
Jerry Keck, of Tiffin; a daughter, Courtney Bauman of Tiffin;
maternal grandparents, William and Helen Eblin; paternal great-great-grandmother,

Margaret "Maggie" E. Alley, 86, of 1000 Independence Road,
Fostoria, died at 12:40 p.m. Tuesday, April 22, 2003, at the
Independence House where she was a resident.
She was born May 6, 1916, in Hamilton, Pa., to Willis and Ethel
(Snyder) Crawford. On April 12, 1941, in defiance, she married
Raymond Alley. He died on Nov. 23, 1998.
Surviving is a sister, Flossie Ariza, of Fostoria.

FOSTORIA -- Alma J. Alspach, 80, of North Main St., Fostoria,
died at 5:20 p.m. Wednesday. April 23, 2003 at Fostoria Community
Hospital. She was born August 3, 1922 in Fostoria to Linus and
Anna (Cook) Beck. On Jan. 31, 1950 she married William F. Alspach
in Fostoria, and he survives.
Also surviving include: four daughters, Mrs. Joseph "Coleen"
K. McGee, Beverly J. Distel-Roth, and Carol J. and Brenda S.
Alspach, all of Fostoria; three sisters, Helen Wilcox of Fostoria,
Anna Donaldson of Beaverdam, and Dorothy Pryor of Tiffin; seven
grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.

He was born March 31, 1923, in San Benito, Texas, to Gumecindo
and Luz (Aleman) Anez. On Aug. 3, 1943, in Brownsville, Texas,
he married Martina Ontiveroz. He then married Shirley McGuire
and they are separated.
Surviving are: two sons, Casimiro "Cas" and Ricardo
"Rick" Anez, both of Fostoria; three daughters, Maria
Martinez of Lima; Lolie Anez and Angie Bernal, both of Fostoria;
14 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Jose
Anez of Harlingen, Texas and Gumecindo "Jim" Anez
of Fostoria; and three sisters, Juanita Uballe of Harlingen
Texas, Hermina Juarez of Fostoria and Hortencia Arizola of Grand
Rapids, Mich.
Mr. Anez is a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II and recipient
of a Bronze Star and Purple Heart.

Beis. Eric E. 'Rick'
Eric E. "Rick" Beis, 33, of 6855 CH 16, Sycamore,
Ohio, died at 4:10 p.m. Wednesday, May 7, 2003, two miles south
of Fostoria, Ohio.
He was born March 26, 1970, in Upper Sandusky, Ohio, to Robert
E. and Sandra K. (Corfman) Beis who survive in rural Sycamore.
He married Jennifer L. Amert Sept. 23, 2000, and she survives.
Other survivors include: maternal grandparents, Mr. James and
Luella Corfman of rural Nevada, Ohio; a sister, Ms. Tammy Beis
of rural Sycamore, Ohio; and many aunts, uncles, nephews and
cousins.
His paternal grandparents, Charles and Doris Beis, preceded
him in death.
He was a 1988 graduate of Mohawk High School; formerly employed
at B.F. Walton and Sons Seed Co., Upper Sandusky, Ohio; and
presently employed as a high voltage line construction technician
for Vaughn Industries, Carey, Ohio.
He was a certified journeyman; and a member of the Smithville
United Methodist Church. He loved the outdoors, loved to farm,
also collected John Deere Tractors and also loved to work on
his 1949 Ford truck which he took to many car shows. He also
loved to build and fix things.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday, May 12, 2003, in the Walton-Moore
Funeral Home, Sycamore, Ohio, with the Rev. Kelly Brown and
the Rev. Sonja Bender officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant
View Cemetery, Sycamore.
Visitation will be 2-9 p.m. Sunday, May 11, 2003, in the funeral
home.

FOSTORIA --- Helen M. Agnew, 90, of North Union Street, Fostoria,
died Wednesday evening, May 21, 2003, at Independence House
in Fostoria. She was born Sept. 8, 1912, in Fostoria to the
late Charles and Florence (Cole) Myers. On May 22, 1937, she
married Lloyd W. Agnew. He died in May 2000.
Survivors include: a son, Robert Agnew of Columbus; a daughter,
Mrs. Barbara Jane Heimberger of Willowick; and four grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Harrold-Floriana
Funeral Home, Fostoria. Burial will be at Union Cemetery.
Visitation is 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Anderson, Arthur C.
Arthur C. Anderson, 90, resident of Parkview Care Center, Fremont,
Ohio, and formerly of Kansas, Ohio, died at 3:40 p.m. Friday,
May 30, at Parkview Care Center in Fremont.
He was born Aug. 19, 1912 in Kansas, Ohio, to James and El Nora
(Lynch) Anderson. He first married Helen Lambright and she died
during childbirth April 15, 1946. He then married Mildred French-Reidling
Dec. 27, 1947, in Kansas, Ohio.
Survivors include: his wife, Mildred Anderson of Fremont; a son,
James Anderson-DePree of Chicago, Ill.; three step-sons, Jerald
Reidling of Fostoria, Raymond Reidling of Millbury, and Dwight
Reidling of Toledo; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren;
and five great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by: his first wife, Helen; a brother,
John Anderson; and two sisters, Marian Stryker and Margaret DePree.
He was a 1930 graduate of Jackson Liberty High School; received
a teaching degree from Hope College in Holland, Mich.; retired
in 1991 as a self-employed farmer. He had farmed all his life
and was also a former teacher.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, June 2, 2003, at
Liberty Cemetery near Kansas, Ohio, with the Rev. Robert Chew
officiating.
There will be no visitation.
Memorials may be made to the Kansas United Methodist Church or
to the Kansas Volunteer Fire Dept.

Borer, Cecilia, V.
CV. Borer, 79, formerly of 213 Circular St., Tiffin, died
at noon, Wednesday, June 11, 2003, at Autumnwood Care Center.
She was born Aug. 28, 1923, in New Riegel, to Anthony and Clara
(Hoepf) Borer.
Surviving are: three sisters, Anna (Vincent) Bentz of Fostoria,
Mrs. Herman L. (Agnes) Mathias of Carey, and Martha (John) Kirchner
of Tiffin; many nieces and nephews also survive.
Preceding her in death were: parents, and two sisters, Catherine
Carp and Isabella Steinmetz.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and its Rosary-Altar
Society.
Ms. Borer attended St. Joseph School. She loved bingo, making
ceramics, reading, and listening to Polka music.
The Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 14, 2003,
at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with the Rev. James K. Say officiating.
The Rosary will be recited at 10:15 at the church. Burial will
be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

Behm, Doris I.
Doris I. Behm, 83, of Attica, died Friday, July 4, 2003, at
her home. She was born Nov. 21, 1919, in Attica, to the late
William "Ed" and Minnie (Carrick) Bollinger. Mrs.
Behm was married June 8, 1975, to Paul Behm, who preceded her
in death Aug. 4, 2000.
Mrs. Behm was a graduate of Attica High School, class of 1937,
and worked at the Attica Cafe for years. She was a member of
the Attica United Methodist Church, life member of the American
Legion Auxiliary and former member of the Attica Rebecca's.
Mrs. Behm is survived by: a son, Rockne Martin of Attica; four
daughters: Patricia Kean, Shirley Jaynes and Lydia Martin, all
of Attica, and Susan Robbins of Lebanon, Ky.; a stepson, Marshall
Behm of Silverdale, Wash.; three stepdaughters, Barbara Schaaf
of Attica, Victoria Walliser of Fostoria and Valerie Gordon
of Stilwell, Kan.; 11 grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren
and 11 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Howard Bollinger
of Attica and Walter Bollinger of Toledo.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Ireta Burwell, and a
brother, Russell Bollinger.
Private family graveside services will be today at the Attica-Venice
Township Cemetery, with Pastor Mark Boedeker of the church officiating.

Mary Balsat, 91, formerly of 146 Lunt St., Fostoria, died at

She was born Dec. 24, 1911, in New Denhoff, Russia, to William
and Mary (Scheafer) Vogel. On April 24, 1930, at Hope Lutheran
Church in Fostoria, she married Christopher Balsat. He died
in 1956.
Surviving are: a son, Howard Balsat of Uniontown; and a special
friend, James Drumm.

FOSTORIA -- Marita Joyce Bixler, 72, of West Culbertson Street,
Fostoria, died at 6:52 p.m. Tuesday, July 29, 2003, at Blanchard
Valley Regional Health Center in Findlay.
She was born July 1, 1931, in West Independence to the late
Robert and Anna (Shumaker) Sopher. She married Warren D. Coppus
and they divorced. She then married Charles W. Bixler on Oct.
17, 1951, in Findlay. He died July 5, 1995.
Surviving are: three sons, Charles and Chris Coppus of Carroll,
and Michael Bixler of Fostoria; four daughters, Mrs. William
(Cynthia) Nye of Fostoria, Debra Shifflett of Columbus, Mrs.
David (Jan) Beach and Marcia Barth, both of Findlay; a brother,
Joe Sopher of Findlay; and a sister, Ruth Ann Stansbury of Upper
Sandusky; 19 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Harrold-Floriana Funeral
Home in Fostoria. Burial will be in Fountain Cemetery.

Beck, Richard
Richard Clifton Beck, 59, of 621 W. Sandusky St., Findlay,
passed away at 12:09 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2003 at the Blanchard
Valley Regional Health Center Emergency Room.
Born Dec. 28, 1943 in Vanlue to Claude Addison and Lea Jene
Brown (Ayers) Beck, both are deceased, he married Ruthie Agnes
Pelton on August 17, 1968 and she survives
Also surviving are two daughters, Regina Marie (David C.) Kolan
and Rita J. (Donald L.) Large, both of Findlay; two brothers,
Terry A. (Rose) of Ft. Pierce, Fla.; and Max E. (Gladys) of
Watton, Mich.; and five sisters, Norma Jene McCoy, Brownsville,
Texas; Natalie (Marvin) Reinhart, Fostoria; Margaret (Dave)
Rice, McComb; Marlene (Russ) Lanker, McCutchenville, Ohio; and
Connie (Donald) Bird, Tiffin. Also surviving are granddaughters
whom he loved dearly, Shianne R. Large and Adelei M. Kolan.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Norman Victor Beck
and Ronnie Joe Beck; and a sister, Ruthie M Beck.
Richard was a member of St. Michael The Archangel Catholic
Church where he was an usher for many years at the 11 a.m. Sunday
Mass. He was also a member of Knights of Columbus 4th Degree
and Holy Name Society. Richard was formerly employed at San-A-Pure
Dairy for 17 years, Snyder Lumber Yard in Vanlue, and currently
employed at High Quality Plastics for 17 years as a machine
operator. He also delivered The Courier for many years in Vanlue.
Richard was an avid football fan, he loved his Cleveland Browns,
Ohio State Buckeyes and Detroit Demolition Pro Women's Football
Team.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday
at St. Michael The Archangel Catholic Church, downtown, the
Rev. Adam Hertzfeld officiating. Burial will be in Knollcrest
Gardens, east of Findlay.
Visitation will be held from 2-9 P.M. Friday at COLDREN-CRATES

Frank M. Bugner, 95, died at 4:45 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, 2003,
in Good Shepherd Home, Fostoria, where he resided.
He was born Feb. 21, 1908, in Alvada, to John and Anna (Hoffbauer)
Bugner. He married Mary A. Thill Nov. 11, 1941, in St. Wendelin
Catholic Church in Fostoria. She died June 20, 2002.
Surviving are: a son, Edward (Diane) Bugner of Medina; a daughter,
Catherine (Donald) Noga of Middleburg Heights; six grandchildren,
Andrew, Christine and Steven Noga; Mark, Paul and John Bugner;
a brother, Raymond Bugner of Fostoria; and four sisters, Emma
LaFontaine of New Riegel, Clara Michels of McHenry, Ill., Estella
Logsdon of Alvada and Rosina Might of Blairsville, Ga.

Mr. Bugner was owner of "Bugner's Grocery" in Fostoria
for 23 years (1947-1969).

he married Dolores Anna Marshall on June 10, 1939 at St. Peter
Catholic Church, Alvada, and she died Nov. 25, 1999.
Surviving are two sons, John R. (Linda) of Shiloh, Ill.; and
Douglas E. (Darla) of Rochester, N.Y.; three daughters, Mrs.
Dan (Dorothy) Opperman, Fostoria; Mrs. Robert (Joan) Alexander,
Jackson, Mich.; and Suzanne Elter, Holland; four sisters, Emma
LaFontaine, New Riegel; Clara Michels, McHenry, Ill.; Estella
Logsdon, Alvada; and Rosina Might, Blairsville, Ga.; 13 grandchildren,
14 great-grandchildren, and three step great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death are four brothers, Joseph, Albert, Frank
and Julius.
Mr. Bugner retired in 1974 from Union Carbide, Fostoria, after
30 years of service. He was a member of St. Wendelin Catholic
Church, Fostoria, a Life Member of the New Riegel Moose, Honorary
Life member of Knights of Columbus council 1197, 3rd degree,
Fostoria, VFW Dads Club, and the Fostoria Elks Lodge 935.

Brookman, Eleanore
ARCADIA -- Eleanore A. Brookman, 83, of Scott Street, Arcadia,
died at 10:45 a.m. Friday, Sept. 12, 2003 at Blanchard Valley
Regional Health Center, Findlay.
She was born June 14, 1920 in Cygnet, Ohio to the late Clarence
E. and Erma (Hawk) Brookman. Eleanore married Herbert Philo,
and they were divorced. On June 15, 1941, she married Elzy Brookman
in North Baltimore, Ohio, and he preceded her in death November
11, 1980.
Surviving are a son, Scott E. (Karen) Philo, Lorain; three
grandchildren, Stacey, Shannon, and Shawn; three great grandchildren;
and two brothers, Charles Ewing, Fenton, Mich.; and Richard
Ewing, Toledo.
A brother, Russell Ewing, also preceded her in death.
Mrs. Brookman was a floor inspector at Ford Motor Co. (now
Honeywell), Fostoria, for 34 years, retiring in 1974. She had
previously been a recording secretary for the AFL-CIO. A graduate
of DeVilbiss High School, Toledo, she attended Findlay College
for two years. She was a member of the Fostoria Kingdom Hall
of Jehovah's Witnesses. Mrs. Brookman was a kind and giving
lady. She enjoyed fishing, gardening, and traveling to many
places in the United States and abroad.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday at
the Mann-Hare Funeral Home, Fostoria. Interment Arcadia Cemetery,
Arcadia.
Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the

Herbert L. Brickles, 89, of TR 21, Fostoria, died at 5:57 a.m.
Saturday, Sept. 20, 2003, in Toledo Hospital.
He was born April 2, 1914, in Nelsonville, to the late Clinton
and Gertrude (Kelch) Brickles. He married Phyllis Heck Oct.
24, 1942, in Bowling Green. She died Nov. 2, 1984. He married
Ada Still March 25, 1995, in Frostproof, Fla. She survives in
Fostoria.
Also surviving are: a son, Billy Brickles of Ortonville, Mich.;
three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two brothers,
Jay Brickles of Green Valley, Ariz., and Don Brickles of Tennessee;
and a sister, JoAnne Jones of Willard.
Mr. Brickles was a World War II U.S. Army veteran.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Harrold-Floriana
Funeral Home in Fostoria. Burial will be in Fountain Cemetery
in Fostoria with military honors conducted by the Joint Veterans

He was preceded in death by his mother.
Mr. burns had worked at B.G.S.U. in publication and communication

FORT PIERCE, Fla. -- Funeral services for Terry A. Beck, 63,
of Fort Pierce, Fla., will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Yates
Funeral Home Chapel, Fort Pierce, Fla. Burial will be in White
City Cemetery, Fort Pierce.
Visitation will be held from 1-3 and 5-7 p.m. Friday at the
funeral home chapel.
Mr. Beck died Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2003 in Fort Pierce, Fla.
He was born in Findlay and moved from North Baltimore to Fort
Pierce in 1971.
Surviving are his wife of 42 years, Rose Beck, Fort Pierce,
Fla.; three sons, Terry A. Jr. and Terry Casdorph, both of Fort
Pierce, Fla.; and Bobby of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; two daughters,
Barbara McKeon and April Clark, both of Fort Pierce, Fla.; a
brother, Max of Watton, Mich.; five sisters, Norma Jean McCoy,
Brownsville, Texas; Natalie Rinehart, Fostoria; Connie Bird,
Tiffin; Margaret Rice, McComb; and Marlene Lanker, McCutchenville;
and five grandchildren.
Prior to retirement he was a truck driver for a transportation
company and he was an avid bowler and woodworker.
Butler, Julia
Julia Butler, 58, of 114 W. Culbertson St., Fostoria, died
at 4:36 p.m. Friday, Oct. 31, 2003, at Fostoria Community Hospital.
She was born April 20, 1945, in Toledo, to Lee Betzer and Ruth
(Bullock) Sprow-Betzer. She married John "Jack" Butler
Oct. 5, 1963, in Fostoria and he survives.
Also surviving are: three sons, John Butler and Jeff Butler,
both of Pacolet, S.C., and Jamey Butler of Fostoria; a foster
daughter, Kim Hannigan of Spartanburg, S.C.; nine grandchildren;
a brother, Fred Sprow of Okinawa; and a sister, Linda Zarzycki
of Lexington, Mich.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St.
Wendelin Catholic Church. Burial will be in Floyds Pacolet Chapel
Cemetery, Pacolet, S.C.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday at the Mann-Hare
Funeral Home in Fostoria, with a Christian wake services at

Brewer, Everett H.
Everett H. Brewer, 71, of Williston Avenue, Fostoria, died
at 8:49 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, 2003, at his residence.
He was born April 20, 1932, in Risingsun, to the late Francis
and Lola (Pierson) Brewer. He married Marlene Martin in 1958
in Pemberville. They divorced. He then married Sharon Pence
Sept. 13, 1980, in Clintwood, W.Va. She survives in Fostoria.
Also surviving are: his stepfather, John B. Sams of Risingsun;
four sons, Keith, Kenny and Kurt Brewer of Risingsun, and Kent
Brewer of Fostoria; two daughters, Kathy Skaggs of Risingsun
and Kay Clark of Helena; three stepsons, Howard Haudenshild
of Texas, Brian Haudenshild of Fostoria and Joe Haudenshild
of Lima; two stepdaughters, Theresa Purdy and Esther Myers,
both of Lima; 20 grandchildren; a greatgrandchild; and a sister,
Barbara Woodruff of Cygnet.
Mr. Brewer was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Harrold-Floriana Funeral
Home in Fostoria.
Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Monday and one hour prior to the
services on Tuesday, at the funeral home.

Mrs. Butler died at 6:35 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, 2003 at Autumnwood

Baker, Raymond H.
RISINGSUN -- Raymond H. "Ray" Baker, 70, of Risingsun,
died at 4:15 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2003 at his residence.
He was born Nov. 15, 1932 in Fostoria to Hubert N. and Kathryn
(Mabus) Baker. He married Marilyn "June" Gorrill on
Sept. 6, 1952 in St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria, and
she survives.
Also surviving is a son, Kenneth L. (Mary) of Risingsun; two
daughters, Mrs. Charles (Denise A.) Conrad, Gibsonburg; and
Mrs. Gary (Deborah G.) Hofelich, Genoa; eight grandchildren
four great-grandchildren; a brother, Edward of Wayne; and four
sisters, Mrs. Wallace (Mary Jo) Wagner, Wayne; Mrs. Robert (Regina)
Dibling, Fostoria; Mrs. Edward (Marge) Reinhart, Kansas, Ohio;
and Mrs. Al. (Joyce) Spencer, Burgoon.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Dana Baker; and three
brothers, Robert, Thomas and James.
Mr. Baker was a lifelong farmer. Ray loved dancing, gardening
and woodworking.
He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Millersville;
and 1950 graduate of Montgomery Local High School, Wayne; a
Korean War Army veteran; life member and officer of American
Legion Post 183; Color Guard and Calf Club, Pemberville; life
member and trustee of VFW Post 421 and Fraternal Order of Eagles
Aerie 430, both in Fostoria; member of Toledo Swiss Men's Society;
member and served on the board of directors of Soil & Water
Conservation of Sandusky County and Sun Grain Elevator Association,
Risingsun; Ohio Cattlemen's Association; National Farmers Organization;
Ohio Corn Growers; and Ohio Soybean Growers Association.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday
at the church, the Rev. Ted. Miller officiating. Burial will
be in the parish cemetery, where military funeral honors will
be held.
Visitation will be held from 3-8 p.m. Friday at Hoening Funeral
Home, Fostoria, and an hour before Mass Saturday at the church.
A Christian wake service will be held at 5 p.m. Friday at the
funeral home.

Barringer, William F.
William F. Barringer, 76, of Circle Drive, Fostoria, died at
12:47 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, 2003, at his home.
He was born Oct. 26, 1927, in Fostoria, to the late Charles
and Chloe (Grant) Barringer. He married Patricia G. (Barley)
Barringer Nov. 29, 1944, in Covington, Ky. She survives in Fostoria.
Also surviving are: a son, William Barringer of Fostoria; a
daughter, Lynda Delfin of Fresno, Calif.; six grandchildren
and five great-grandchildren.
He was proceded in death by his parents; and five brothers,
Donald Barringer, Bernard Barringer, Charles Barringer, Lester
Baringer and Robert Barringer
He retired in 1985 from Allied Signal (now Honeywell) where
he worked in plant security for 29 years.
He was a 1945 graduate of Fostoria High School.
Mr. Barringer was a U.S. Army veteran.
Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Fountain
Cemetery in Fostoria with burial following.
Visitation will be 12-1 p.m. Tuesday at the Harrold-Floriana
Funeral Home, Fostoria.
Beck, Tammy Mae
Tammy Mae Beck, 30, of Jackson Street, Fostoria, died unexpectedly
of natural causes Friday morning at Toledo Hospital.
She was born in Fostoria Aug. 1, 1973.
Tammy is survived by parents, Mike and Peg Beck of Fostoria;
grandmother Elinor Beck of Fostoria; and three sisters, Mrs.
Sam (Teri) Kitchen of Fostoria, Mrs. Josh (Richelle/Ricci) Yost
of Lexington, Ky., and Christina Beck of Fostoria; and her cat
Bandit.
Tammy was preceded in death by grandparents William and Margaret
Ellis of Fostoria and Bob Beck of Sandusky.
She graduated from Fostoria High School in 1994 and was employed
at Wendy's for eight years.
Tammy was a member of St. Wendelin Parish, Seneca County Opportunity
Center Community Options, as well as SPECK at St. Wendelin Church.
She was an annual participant at the FAME Games for 17 years,
where she was a recipient of a Gold Medal.
Tammy had an immense love for music and movies and enjoyed
entertaining through song and dance. She enjoyed bowling, playing
cards and making friendship bracelets. She touched every life
she came in contact with, and will be sorely missed by all who
knew and loved her.
Mass of Christian burial, a celebration of Tammy's life, will
be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2003, at St. Wendelin Catholic
Church in Fostoria with Father Douglas Garand presiding. Burial
will be in Fountain Cemetery.
Visitation will be 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Monday, at Harrold-Floriana
Funeral Home, where the Rosary will be prayed at 8:30 p.m.
The Rosary will also be prayed at 10 a.m. at the church Tuesday.

Arthur Balsat
Arthur C. Balsat, 78, died Tuesday. July 2, 2002
He was born Nov. 22, 1923, in Ohio. An Army Air Corps veteran
of World War II, he was a manufacturing technician for Department
of Defense and a 45-year resident of Boulder City.
He is survived by his sisters, Helen Horner of Las Vegas, Helene
of Reno and Ruth Soraghan of Springfield, Va.
Mr. Balsat graduated from Fostoria High School in 1941.
Services are private. Bunkers Mortuary handled arrangements.
Brickner, Marjorie A.
Marjorie A. Bricker, 93, formerly of 849 Walnut St., Fostoria,
died at 6:20 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 15, 2003, at Good Shepherd
Home in Fostoria, where she was a resident.
Born Feb. 27, 1910, in Arcadia, Ohio, to the late George and
Nora (Oberholtzer) Stall, she married Raymond C. Bricker and
he preceded her in death, Feb. 23, 1980.
Survivors include: one son, Carl B. "Butch" Bricker
and his wife, Judy; two daughters, Mrs. Jack (Carolyn) Earl
and Mrs. Donald (Betty) Ecker, all of Fostoria; eight grandchildren;
20 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by: two sons, Tom and William Bricker;
three grandsons, Terry Bricker and Rick and Randy Earl; one
brother, Luther Stull; and two sisters, Marie Grover and Rachel
Clymer.
Mrs. Bricker was a homemaker and seamstress, and worked in
the cafeteria at Jackson-Liberty High School for a number of
years.
She was a member of Kansas United Methodist Church and its
United Methodist Women, Shepherd Center, AARP, and Harrison
Trail Garden Club. She was also a 4-H advisor for several years.
Services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 19,
2003, at the Mann-Hare Funeral Home in Fostoria. with the Rev.
Ivan Schwenn officiating. Burial will follow in Arcadia Cemetery.
Friends will be received 2-4 amd 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral
home.

GREEN SPRINGS -- Funeral services for Randy L. Black, 20, of
Township Road 169, Green Springs, and formerly of Fostoria,

Mr. Brose died Monday morning, Nov. 17, 2003, at his residence.

sisters, Judy Brose, Fostoria; and Betty Brose, McComb.

Bradner, H. Robert
H. Robert Bradner, 79, of Fostoria, died at 8:35 a.m. Saturday,
Dec. 13, 2003, peacefully at his home. In October of 1999, Bob
had a thoracic aneurysm repaired which left him a paraplegic.
He was born Nov. 12, 1924, in Tiffin, to the late Harry R.
and Beatrice M. (Wonderly), Bradner. He married Helen C. Heilman,
May 29, 1948, in St. Wendelin Catholic Church.
Surviving are: his wife of 55 years, Helen Bradner of Fostoria;
two daughters, Judith (Michael) Russell of Fostoria and Laura
(Chuck) Theis of Tiffin; two sons, Thomas Bradner of Fostoria
and Fred Bradner of Ames, Iowa; 15 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren;
three brothers, James (Norma) Bradner of Fort Wayne, Ind., William
(Marilyn) Bradner of Winter Springs, Fla., David (Betty) Bradner
of Lake Havasu City, Ariz.; and step-mother Haydee Bradner of
Fostoria.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Robert; and
a brother, Richard.
Mr. Bradner retired in 1986 from Hancock-Wood Electric Cooperative
in North Baltimore after 28 years. He was director of public
relations serving as past president of Ohio Member Services
Association, and Wood County Council of Cooperatives-President.
A sergeant in the U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II,
he served in Italy, Austria and Germany. Later he served as
Fostoria Safety-Service director 1954-1957 under Mayor Ray Coburn.
Mr. Bradner assisted photographer Pat Marchion four years and
was a 10 year associate of Hoening Funeral Home. He was also
a familiar voice on WFOB radio, promoting Hancock-Wood Electric.
Mr. Bradner was a member of St. Wendelin Catholic Church in
Fostoria, where he had been a lay distributor, lector, head
usher and member of St. Wendelin's first school board; AARP,
Catholic Golden Agers, member first St. Wendelin Boy Scout Troop
50; life member of the American Legion Post 73, and Knights
of Columbus Council 1179, member VFW Post 421; a literacy tutor;
and fast pitch softball catcher for K of C and Peggs Paints
All Stars; slow pitch softball first baseman for K of C Old
Timers. He was a 1942 graduate of St. Wendelin High School and
later attended John Carroll University in Cleveland.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 1 p.m. Wednesday in St.
Wendelin Catholic Church, where a Rosary will be prayed at 12:30
p.m. Burial will be in Knollcrest Gardens in Arcadia, where
the United Veterans of Fostoria will conduct military honors.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. Tuesday at the Hoening
Funeral Home, Fostoria, where a Christian wake service will
take place at 8:30 p.m.

FOSTORIA -- Nina L. Barbour, 76, formerly of Walnut Street,
Fostoria, died at 2:50 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2003 at Good Shepherd
Nursing Home, Fostoria.
Surviving are her husband, Carl E. of Fostoria; two daughters,
Mrs. John (Carla) Ballreich and Mrs. John (Peggy) Souder, both
of Fostoria; and two stepsisters, Opal Babcock, Risingsun; and
Janet McDaniel, Findlay.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Harrold-Floriana
Funeral Home, Fostoria, the Rev. Larry W. Knigga officiating.

FOSTORIA -- Funeral services for Lauren "Bud" Brandeberry,
79, formerly of East High Street, Fostoria, will be held at

Mr. Brandeberry died at 11:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 25, 2003

Brickner, Agnes B.
Agnes B. Brickner, 92, formerly of E. North St., Fostoria,
died at 7:10 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 28, 2003, in Good Shepherd Home
in Fostoria.
She was born March 24, 1911, in St. Croix, Ind., to the late
Martin and Della (Bodart) Flannagan. She married Robert B. Brickner,
June 30, 1934, at St. Wendelin Catholic Church in Fostoria.
He died Sept. 10, 1957.
Surviving are: two sons, Eugene H. Brickner of Upper Sandusky
and Robert C. (Martha) Brickner of Green Valley, Ariz.; nine
grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; three brothers,
Charles Flannagan of Jasper, Ind., Albert Flannagan of St. Croix,
Ind., and Martin Flannagan of Chillicothe, Ohio,; and three
sisters, Anna Ramsey of Newburgh, Ind., Irene Flamion and Christine
Hawkins, both of Tell City, Ind.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband; a brother,
William Flannagan; and two sisters, Florence Flannagan and Helen
Beck.
Mrs. Brickner was a homemaker and retired from RCA in Findlay
in 1976.
She was a member of St. Wendelin Catholic Church, and its Rosary-Altar
Society; and the daughters of Isabella.
Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 a.m. Friday in St. Wendelin
Catholic Church, where a Rosary will be prayed at 10 a.m. Burial
will be in St. Wendelin Parish Cemetery in Fostoria.

June(Wilnetta) Bower, 85, a native of Fostoria, died Saturday
Dec. 27,2003 in Tallahassee, Fla.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday Jan 2, in the Chapel
of Bevis Funeral Home in Tallahassee, Fla. with interment following
in Roselawn cemetery, also in Tallahassee, Fla.
Mrs. Bower was born July 22, 1918 the daughter of William and
Myrtle (Greer) Butzier. She was a longtime employee of Bugner's
Grocery Store and also worked at Whitney's Drug Store and Kelly's
Diner all of Fostoria. She was a member of the Foursquare Church
.
She is survived by two daughters, Carolyn Bower and Pat Dillingham,
both of Tallahassee, FLa.; her son, Kenneth Bower, Frederick,
Md.; five grandchildren, Candi Bower, Brett Bower and Jillian
Bower, all of Cincinnati; Micheal Bower and Daniel Bower both
serving with the United States military; and two great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are several nieces, nephew and cousins in Ohio.
