Dorothy M. Snyder, 75, of 307 W.
Fourth St., Fostoria, died at 4 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 31, 1998,
in Fostoria Community Hospital.
She was born May 29, 1923, in Fostoria,
to the late George and Mabel (Went) Manecke. On June 18, 1949,
in Fostoria, she married Lester L. Snyder, who survives in Fostoria.
Other survivors include: two sons,
Don A. and Gary L. Snyder, both of Fostoria; four grandchildren;
three brothers, Harold and Melvin Manecke, both of Fostoria,
and Clair Manecke of West Millgrove; and a sister, Mrs. Pat
(Dorene) Cushing of Fostoria.
A sister, Norene Manecke, preceded
her in death.
Mrs. Snyder was a homemaker and
member of Grace United Church of Christ, Fostoria.
The Rev. Cindy Hunter will preside
at funeral services at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Mann-Hare Funeral
Home, Fostoria. Burial will be in Fountain Cemetery in Fostoria.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9
p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Myron L. Snyder, 93, formerly of
144 E. Sixth St., Fostoria, died at 5:23 a.m. Saturday, Jan.
23, 1999, in the Good Shepherd Nursing Home, 725 Columbus Ave.,Fostoria,
where he resided.
He was born in Kansas, Ohio, Oct.
27, 1905, to John and Lodiska (Lanning) Snyder. His wife, Velma
I. (Traucht) Snyder, is deceased.
Survivors include: two daughters,
Mrs. James (Jacquelin) Boulhoulle of Fostoria and Mrs. Joretta
Niswender of Columbus; two sisters, Mrs. Cleo Pierce of Columbus
and Mrs. Donna Pierce of Fostoria; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren;
and two great-great-grandchildren.
Two brothers, Clyde and John Jr.
Snyder, and two sisters, Laura Bryan and Beatrice McCullough,
also preceded him in death.
Mr. Snyder, a member of Hope Lutheran
Church, Fostoria, retired Sept. 29, 1967, as an operator from
Gray Printing Company, Fostoria, where he had been employed
for 40 years.
The Rev. Richard Hofmann will be
the officiant at the 10:30 a.m. Tuesday service in the Mann-Hare
Funeral Home, Fostoria Chapel. Interment will be in Memory Gardens,
near Arcadia.
Visitation at the funeral home
will be two hours prior to the service on Tuesday.

Bess L. Stultz, 78, of 9105 SR
18, Fostoria, died at 6:25 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 3, 1999, in
the Good Shepherd Nursing Home, Fostoria.
Born Dec. 27, 1920, in Sawyerwood,
Ohio, to Charles B. and Daisy I. (Scott) Wise, she married Harold
B. Stultz, June 2, 1943, in Fostoria. He died Jan. 8.
Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Allen
(Devota) Angles of Urbana and a niece, Patricia Cronwell, also
of Urbana.
A son, Harold S. Stultz Jr., also
preceding her in death.
Mrs. Stultz, a member of Hope Lutheran
Church, Fostoria, had been employed as alicensed practical nurse
for Dr. James Murray in Fostoria.
Graveside services in Fountain
Cemetery, Fostoria, will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, with the Rev.
Richard Hofmann officiating.
Visitation will be at the convenience
of the family. The Mann-Hare Funeral Home, Fostoria, is in charge
of arrangements.

C. Dale Snyder, 92, of West SR
12, Fostoria, died at 8:10 p.m. Sunday, March 7, 1999, in St.
Catherine's Care Center, Fostoria.
He was born in Risingsun, Sept.
26, 1907, to Ora and Ada (Boyd) Snyder. In February 1929, in
Indiana, he married Leola Grace Grant, who died May 2, 1998.
Survivors include: a son, Jim Snyder
of Fostoria, five grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and
three great-great-grandchildren.
Also preceding him in death were
six brothers, Orie, Dee, Bill, Lyle, Buck and Max Snyder; and
two sisters, Bessie Ecker and Dora Kissling.
Mr. Snyder retired in 1973 as a
self-employed farmer and the former owner and operator of the
Kwik Shake Restaurant in Fostoria.
A 1926 graduate of Jackson Liberty
High School, he was a former member of the Jackson Township
Grange.
The Rev. Ruth Solo will be the
officiant at the 1:30 p.m. Thursday service in the Harrold-Floriana
Funeral Home, Fostoria. Interment will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery,
rural Fostoria.

Roy G. Smith, 95, of Circle Drive,
Fostoria, died in the Fostoria Community Hospital at 12:46 a.m.
Monday, April 12, 1999.
He was born in Wallace, W.Va.,
Oct. 15, 1903, to John and Eunice (Morris) Smith. His wife,
Virginia A. (Robinson) Smith, whom he married Sept. 24, 1927,
in Clarksburg, W.Va., died Sept. 5, 1993.
Survivors include: two daughters,
Mrs. Charles (Betty) Reed of Vermillion and Mrs. Irvin (Alice)
Butler of Amhurst; four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren
and two step-great-grandchildren.
Five brothers, Clovie, Forest,
Guy, Dewey and William Smith; two sisters, Thresa Jones and
Mary Schifler; and two grandchildren, also are deceased.
Mr. Smith had been employed for
40 years at the Union Carbide Corp. (now National Electrical
Carbon Corp), Fostoria, retiring in 1968.
He was a member of the First Church
of the Nazarene, Fostoria.
The Rev. Russell F. Gumm will be
the officiant at the 11 a.m. Thursday service in the Harrold-Floriana
Funeral Home, Fostoria. Burial will be in Memory Gardens, near
Arcadia.

Union Carbide retiree
Harold D. Seel, 73, of 617 N. Union
St., Fostoria, died at 7:15 a.m. Saturday, April 24, 1999, in
Blanchard Valley Regional Health Center, Findlay.
He was born Feb. 14, 1926, in Fostoria,
the son of Monroe W. and Ethel E. (Rose) Seel. His first wife,
Mildred L. Kuntz, whom he married June 18, 1949, in Fostoria,
died June 3, 1983. He later married Mary Jo Runion, May 31,
1990, in Toledo. She survives in Fostoria.
Survivors also include: a daughter,
Mrs. James (Sue) Miller of Upper Sandusky; a son, Lawrence "Mike"
Seel of Findlay; three brothers, Bernard M. Seel of Fostoria
and Daniel R. and Herman P. Seel, both of Kissimmee, Fla.; a
step-son, Rex L. Runion of Tiffin; and two step-grandchildren.
Also preceding him in death were
two brothers, Vernon and Norman Seel.
Mr. Seel, who attended St. Wendelin
Catholic Church, Fostoria, retired in 1988, from the Union Carbide,
Fostoria, where he had been employed for 34 years.
Services in the Hoening Funeral
Home, Fostoria, will be 1 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in St.
Wendelin Parish Cemetery.

Emmet T. Sheeran M.D.
Retired Fostoria surgeon
Emmet Thomas Sheeran M.D., 75,
died at 4 p.m. Saturday April 24, 1999, at his home at 911 Van
Buren St., Fostoria.
He was born in Fostoria, June 6,
1923, to Emmet P. and Louise M. (Schomaeker) Sheeran. On Dec.
29, 1945, in St. Henry's Catholic Church, Chicago, Ill., he
married Janet M. Wade, who preceded him in death June 15, 1991.
He later married Irene Wurst-Anderson on July 25, 1994, in St.
Mary's Catholic Church, Gatlinburg, Tenn. She survives in Fostoria.
Other survivors include: two sons,
Michael A. Sheeran of Bryan and Emmet T. Sheeran Jr. of Fostoria;
three daughters, Mary Ann Flynn of Honesdale, Pa., Kathryn L.
Brown of Peachtree City, Ga. and Nancy M. Dana of Columbus;
14 grandchildren and a great-grandson; two step-sons, Mike Anderson
of Memphis, Tenn. and Rob Anderson of Shaker Heights; a step-daughter,
Lisa Anderson of Dayton; three step-grandsons; and two brothers,
Harold W. Sheeran of Cheney, Wash. and Thomas A. Sheeran of
Miami, Fla.
Also preceding him in death was
a son, Patrick J. Sheeran.
A 1941 graduate of St. Wendelin
High School,. Dr. Sheeran received his pre-med degree from the
University of Notre Dame; graduated in 1948 from Loyola University
of Chicago Medical School and completed his surgical residency
at Case Western in 1957.
A retired general surgeon, he formerly
was the chief of resident staff at Lakewood Hospital and former
chief of staff at the Fostoria City Hospital.
A captain in the U.S. Air Force
during the Korean Conflict, he served in the U.S. Army Reserves
during World War II. He also was an award winning photographer
and poet.
Dr. Sheeran was a member of St.
Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria and its former Holy Name
Society. He also was a member of the Fellow American College
of Surgeons 1959, Christian Family Movement, Fostoria Right
to Life, Fostoria University Club, where he served as past president
and was a graduate member; Knights of Columbus 3rd Degree Council
1197 and 4th Degree Assembly 845, Fostoria; Fostoria Country
Club and the Seneca County Medical Society, where he had served
as past president.
A Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m.
Wednesday in St. Wendelin Catholic Church, where the Rosary
will be recited at 10 a.m. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Visitation is 7-9 p.m. today and
3-5 p.m. Tuesday at the Hoening Funeral Home, Fostoria, where
the Rosary will be recited at 8:45 p.m. Tuesday. Fourth Degree
Honor guard will take place 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral
home.

Carl W. Schubert
Retired farmer
Carl W. Schubert, 79, of Alvada
died at 9 a.m. Friday, May 14, 1999, at the Fostoria Community
Hospital.
He was born April 11, 1920, to
Samuel H. and Dorothy (Snyder) Schubert in Biglick Township,
Hancock County. He married Helen M. Martin March 20, 1940, in
Marietta. She survives.
Other survivors include: three
sons, Samuel L. of Bellevue, Robert C. of Bismark, N.D., and
Edwin R. of Sparta, N.J.; nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren;
three sisters, Fannie Peebles of Edgerton, Pauline Diebley and
Esther Cole, both of Alvada. A sister, Martha Darst, preceded
him in death.
He graduated in 1938 from Arcadia
High School and was a self-employed farmer all his life, retiring
in 1982.
He was a member of the West Independence
United Methodist Church; a member of the Corner Stone Sunday
School Class; a former member of the administrative board of
the church; and a member of the Seneca County Farm Bureau.
The Rev. Jeff Raker and the Rev.
Allen Sanford will officiate at the service at 11 a.m. Monday,
at the West Independence United Methodist Church, followed by
burial in Union Cemetery in West Independence.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9
p.m. Sunday at the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home in Fostoria.

Douglas R. Stock
CSX Railroad tower operator
Douglas R. Stock, 56, of Palmer
Street, Fostoria, died at 12:40 a.m. Monday May 31, 1999, in
the Toledo Hospital.
He was born June 29, 1942, in Fostoria,
to the late Elmer and Alma (Higley) Stock.
Survivors include: three brothers,
William Stock of Fostoria, Charles Stock of Old Fort and Richard
Stock of Niles, Mich.; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Stock, a 1960 Fostoria High
School graduate, was employed as an operator at "F" Tower for
the CSX Railroad in Fostoria. He was a U.S. Army veteran.
The Rev. Bertie Dell will conduct
the 11 a.m. Wednesday service in the Harrold-Floriana Funeral
Home, Fostoria. Burial will be in Memory Gardens, near Arcadia,
where military honors will be conducted at the graveside.

Dewey Smith Jr., 77, of Fostoria,
died at 12:30 a.m. Monday, June 1, 1999, in Fostoria.
He was born in Wallace, W.Va.,
Jan. 30, 1922, to Dewey G. and Lizzie (Dye) Smith. His wife,
Betty Ann (Householder) Smith, whom he married Jan. 24, 1942,
in Piqua, survives in Fostoria.
Other survivors include: two sons,
David L. Adams-Smith of Chicago, Ill., and Steven L. Smith of
Fostoria; a daughter, Mrs. Larry (Vicki) Marshall of Orrville;
a brother, Cap Smith of San Juan Capistrano, Calif.; two sisters,
Eunice Hamilton and Mrs. Lou (Naomi) Wirebaugh, both of Elmore;
nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A 1940 graduate of Fostoria High
School, Mr. Smith retired in August 1986 as a gauge and tool
inspector from Atlas Crankshaft, Fostoria, after 40 years.
He was a member of High Street
United Methodist Church, Fostoria, and UAW Local 336, where
he had served as past financial secretary.

the 10:30 a.m. Friday service in the Mann-Hare Funeral Home,
Fostoria. Interment will be in Memory Gardens, near Arcadia,l
where military graveside services will be provided by the United
Veterans of Fostoria.

Longtime Fostoria resident Harold
R. Stroman, 76, died at 2:38 p.m. Monday, June 28, 1999, at
his home at 1423 Longboat Point, Inverness, Fla.
He was born in Fostoria Nov. 27,
1922, to Harry Ralph and Cena Mae (Yeasting) Stroman. On Sept.
9, 1943, in the First Church of God, Findlay, he married his
wife of 55 years, Ardinelle J. (Thomas) Stroman, who died Jan.
26 of this year.
Survivors include: a son, H. Robert
Stroman of Fostoria; two daughters, Mrs. Ira (Nancy Ann) Stroman
Sleasman of Powell, Wyo., and Seattle, Wash., and Mrs. Dr. Trifon
(Marcia Jo) Dalkalitsis of Inverness; six grandchildren; two
brothers, Jack R. Stroman of Austin, Texas, and Dr. Duane F.
Stroman of Huntington, Pa.; a sister, Lenore Stroman of Naples,
Fla.; and many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Stroman, joined his father
in operating the Stroman Implement Co., Fostoria, following
his return from the service. He then owned and operated the
business, working with his wife for 40 years, retiring in 1984.
He also was a farmer in the Arcadia
area until he joined the U.S. Navy during World War II. He trained
at Great Lakes Naval Center in Illinois and at Aviation Ordinance
training in Norman, Okla. He was stationed at the Naval Air
Base in Puerto Princesa, Palarvan, Phillippines as a Seaman
First Class.
He had attended Fostoria High School
for two years, then transferred to Arcadia High School, where
he graduated in 1940.
Mr. Stroman was an active member
of the Fostoria Lions Club, a member of the Lakeland Golf Club
and a former member of Wesley United Methodist Church of Fostoria.
The Rev. Branson Hawkes will be
the officiant at the 10:30 a.m. Friday service in the Mann-Hare
Funeral Home, Fostoria. Interment will be in Memory Gardens,
near Arcadia.

George P. Sherick, 67, of Girton,
died in the Medical College of Ohio Hospital, Toledo, at 2:30
p.m. Sunday, July 4, 1999.
He was born in Powell, Wyo., Nov.
7, 1937, to the late William D. and Gertrude A. (Johnson) Sherick.
In 1971, in Fostoria, he married Carol Hire and they were divorced.
Surviving are: a brother, William
B. Sherick of Helena; and two sisters, Mrs. Duane (Laura) Jurrus
of Fostoria and Mrs. Dale (Barbara) Yoder of Kansas, Ohio.
A sister, Nancilee Crawford, is
deceased.
Mr. Sherick, a 1949 Fostoria High
School graduate, retired from the Autolite Corp. (now AlliedSignal)
in Fostoria after 30 years of employment.
An avid fisherman and hunter, he
served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict.
Services in the Harrold-Floriana
Funeral Home, Fostoria, will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, with
the Rev. H.T. Hill officiating. Burial will be in Fountain Cemetery,
Fostoria.

John Shaffer, 86, formerly of 906
Seneca St., Fostoria, died at 8:20 p.m. Friday, July 30, 1999,
in the Good Shepherd Home, Fostoria.
He was born March 2, 1913, in Hollister,
to Michael and Gizelda (Barkey) Shaffer.
Surviving are nieces and nephews.
Also preceding him in death were
four brothers, Joseph, Alec, Frank and Andrew Shaffer; and two
sisters, Elizabeth and Matilda Shaffer.
A World War II U.S. Army veteran,
he retired as a construction worker. He was a member of St.
Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria.

Mary C. Shiley, 84, of Hancock
CR 254, Arcadia, died Monday, Oct. 4, 1999, in St. Catherine's
Care Center, Fostoria.
She was born June 10, 1915, in
Seneca County, near Fostoria, to Clarence E. and Amelia (Mertel)
Reinhard. On Oct. 19, 1935, in Fostoria, she married Robert
L. Shiley. He survives in rural Arcadia.
Other survivors include: two sons,
Dennis L. Shiley of Fostoria and David L. Shiley of New Knoxville;
a daughter, Mrs. David (Janet L.) Corbin of Arcadia; a brother,
Harold Reinhard of Fostoria; four sisters, Bertha Barth of Upper
Sandusky, Martha Phillips of Fostoria, Mrs. Howard (Joyce) Knight
of Fremont and Mrs. Al (Roma) Sauber of Tiffin; seven grandchildren,
two great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death were
three brothers, Eugene, Charles and LaVerne Reinhard; a sister,
Ruth Reinhard; and two great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Shiley, a member of Enon Valley
Presbyterian Church, Findlay, and its Women's Group, retired
in 1995 as a wallpaper hanger in the Fostoria area, after 44
years.

Rev. Tom Everett will be the co-officiants at the 10:30 a.m.
Thursday service in the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home, Fostoria.

She was born in Lambertsville,
Mich., Sept. 4, 1932, to the late Joseph and Gertrude (Ward)
Teets. Her husband, William W. Sherlock, whom she married Jan.
5, 1970, in Fostoria, survives in Arcadia.
Other survivors include: three
sons, Robert Delong of Findlay, Wayne Delong of Fostoria and
Edward Arnett Jr. of Arcadia.
A homemaker, Mrs. Sherlock was
a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Arcadia.
Graveside services will be at 10:30
a.m. Thursday in Arcadia Cemetery.

DUNKIRK -- Beulah M. Sampson, 80,
of Dunkirk, died Thursday morning, Oct. 21, 1999 at Hardin Memorial
Hospital, Kenton.
She was born May 15, 1919 in Kentucky
to Samuel and Mae (Naus) Hipsher. She married James Albert Sampson
in 1937, and he died in August 1978.
Surviving are two sons, Reggie
and Jim, both of Dunkirk; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren;
and five brothers, Dick and Barney Hipsher, both of Findlay;
Gene Hipsher, Caledonia; Jess Hipsher, Dunkirk; and Roger Hipsher,
Fostoria.
She also was preceded in death
by two brothers and four sisters.
Mrs. Sampson was a homemaker.
There will be no funeral service.
The body will be cremated.
Visitation will be held from 6-8
p.m. today at Price Funeral Home, Dunkirk.

Mildred Marie Stoltz, 81, died
at 4:10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 23, 1999, at her residence at 4806
Sixth St. West, Lehigh Acres, Fla.
She was born in Fostoria, March
17, 1918, to Edwin and Marie (McCandless) Appel. On May 29,
1943, she married Cecil Lewis Stoltz. He preceded her in death
Dec. 2, 1994.
Surviving are: two sons, David
Stoltz of Garner, N.C., and Robert Stoltz of Lehigh Acres; a
daughter, Nancy Risner, also of Lehigh Acres; three grandchildren;
a great-grandchild; and a brother, Richard Appel of Lebanon,
Ohio.
A homemaker, Mrs. Stoltz was a
graduate of Fostoria High School and a member of Memorial United
Methodist Church, Carey.

Mabel H. Smith, 91, formerly of
McDougal Street, Fostoria, died at 12:20 a.m. Tuesday, Oct.
26, 1999, in the Good Shepherd Nursing Home, Fostoria.
She was born in Fostoria, Aug.
22, 1908, to Alpheus and Bertha (Carrel) Dillon. She first married
Ernest L. Benninghoff on Aug. 28, 1930, in Fostoria. He died
June 1, 1954. She later married Harold W. Smith in July 1954,
and he preceded her in death in March 1958.
Surviving are: a son, Eugene R.
Benninghoff of Monroe, Ohio; a step-daughter, Mrs. George (Kathryn)
Thacker of Maumee; five grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death were
two brothers, Carl and Frank Dillon; two sisters, Mae Waggoner
and Helen Nolan; and a grandchild.
Mrs. Smith, a homemaker, was a
member of High Street United Methodist Church, Fostoria, its
Kings Daughters and Bereans.
She also was a member of the Arcadia
Garden Club and served as a volunteer at: Fostoria Community
Hospital, the Good Shepherd Home and the American Red Cross.
The Rev. Jeffrey L. Waite will
conduct the 11 a.m. Friday service in the Harrold-Floriana Funeral
Home, Fostoria. Burial will be in Fountain Cemetery, Fostoria.

FOSTORIA -- Martha R. Swisher,
91, formerly of North Drive, Fostoria, died at 6:05 p.m. Wednesday,
Oct. 27, 1999, at Good Shepherd Nursing Home, Fostoria.
She was born Nov. 9, 1907, in Loudon
Township, Seneca County, to Charles and Emma (Welly) Brickner.
She married James Calvin Swisher on April 28, 1935, in Fort
Wayne, Ind., and he died Dec. 21, 1982.
Surviving are nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Swisher was a bookkeeper and
owner-operator of Auto Parts Store, Bluffton, Ind.
She was a member of St. Wendelin
Catholic Church, Fostoria, and a member of the Fostoria Coin
Club and the Association of Fostoria Barbershoppers. She graduated
in 1925 from St. Wendelin High School, Fostoria.
Funeral services will be held at
2 p.m. Friday at Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home, Fostoria. Burial
will be in St. Wendelin Catholic Cemetery, Fostoria.

prior to services Friday at the funeral home.

Emily M. Smith, 86, a resident
of the Good Shepherd Nursing Home, Fostoria, died at the home
at 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 6, 1999.
She was born in Fostoria, Oct.
17, 1913, to Balus and Lelia (Teeters) Fox. Her husband, Otis
V. Smith, whom she married June 25, 1944, in Fostoria, died
June 18, 1992.
Surviving are: nieces and nephews.
Four brothers, Dale, Harold, Raymond
and Walter Fox; and a sister, Alberta McLaughlin, also are deceased.
Mrs. Smith, a 1931 graduate of
Fostoria High School received her LPN through Flower Hospital
School of Nursing in Toledo. She retired as an LPN from the
office of Doc Bruggemann in Fostoria.
She was a member of High Street
United Methodist Church, Fostoria.
Graveside services will be at 1
p.m. Tuesday in Pleasant View Cemetery, Wingston Road, Wood
County (near Rudolph), with the Rev. Jeffrey L. Waite officiating..
There will be no visitation. The
Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home, Fostoria, is in charge of arrangements.

on Nov. 29, 1940 and he survives.
Also surviving are three sons,

Carolina; two daughters, Patricia Hudson, Findlay; Linda Palomo,
Texas; 11 grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren;
13 stepgreat-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by a
brother, Timothy Myers and a grandchild.
Mrs. Smith was retired from the
Dollar General Store.

Edna Mae Shank, 74, of Carrie Lane,
Fostoria, died at 3:38 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 17, 1999, at Blanchard
Valley Regional Health Center, Findlay. She was born July 25,
1925, in Athens to George and Florence (McConaha) Coleman. On
Aug. 12, 1941, she married John H. Shank. He died July 9, 1987.
Survivors include: two sons, Gene
Shank of Wayne and John Shank of Genoa; three daughters, Mrs.
Mary Abbott of Wayne, Margaret Arnold of Jamestown, N.D., and
Sharon Griffen of Fostoria; a brother, George Coleman of Deshler;
a sister, Irene Thomas of Fostoria; 17 grandchildren and 17
great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were: two
brothers, Gerald and John Coleman, and three sisters, Helen
Coleman, Sylvia Scott and Margaret Bump.
Mrs. Shank was a homemaker and
a member of the Fostoria Eagles Ladies Auxiliary.

Ralph C. Sheets, 84, of 1007 N.
Main St., Fostoria, died at 12:58 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 4, 1999,
at the home of his son in Fostoria.
He was born in Fostoria, Oct. 5,
1915, to Arnold J. and Nora (Dyer) Sheets. His wife of 61 years,
Lillian R. (Murphy) Sheets, whom he married July 16, 1938, in
St. Wendelin Parish, Fostoria, survives in Fostoria.
Other survivors include: two sons,
Thomas E. and Kevin R. Sheets, both of Fostoria; and three grandsons.
A brother, Edward Sheets, also
is deceased.
Mr. Sheets, a U.S. Navy veteran,
retired as a machinist in 1977 from Union Carbide (now National
Electric Carbon), Fostoria, after 36 years of employment. He
also worked at Fruth Hardware in Fostoria for nine years.
He was a member of High Street
United Methodist Church, Fostoria, where he served as a trustee,
usher, former treasurer and as a member of the Administrative
Board.
An avid bowler and golfer, having
recorded five holes-in-one in his lifetime, he also was a member
of Lakeland Golf Club and American Legion Post 73, both of Fostoria.

the officiant at the 10:30 a.m. Tuesday service in the Mann-Hare
Funeral Home, Fostoria. Interment will be in Memory Gardens,

Frank E. Tryon, 84, formerly of
315 Elm St., Fostoria, died at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 23, 1999,
in the Ohio Veterans Home, Sandusky.
He was born in Akron, April 13,
1914, to Frank E. and Helen K. (Staiger) Tryon. On Dec. 14,
1940, in Akron, he married Jessie F. May, who died Feb. 6, 1984.
Survivors include: a son, Michael
J. Tryon of Arcadia; two daughters, Mrs. Ron (Kathy) Schaufelberger
and Mary E. Elsea, both of Fostoria; a sister, Mrs. Ralph (Mary)
Thomas of Cuyahoga Falls; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Mr. Tryon, a World War II U.S.
Army veteran, where he attained the rank of Captain, retired
in 1970, after 35 years of service, from the Firestone Tire
and Rubber Co., where he was manager for many years. He also
owned and operated Fostoria Carpet Cleaning (now TNT Carpet
Cleaning).
A 1936 graduate of Akron University,
he was a member of Lamda Chi Alpha Fraternity, Fostoria Masonic
Lodge 288 and Grace United Church of Christ. He was an associate
member of the Ft. Myers Congregational United Church of Christ,
Ft. Myers, Fla.
He also served as the Santa Claus
at Ft. Myers Mall in Florida.
Memorial services will be 1 p.m.
Saturday, Feb. 6, in Grace United Church of Christ, Fostoria,
with the Rev. Cindy Hunter officiating. Interment will be at
the family's convenience.

John K. Talbott, 68, of Woodward
Ave., Fostoria, died at 5:40 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 18, 1999 at
him his home. He was born May 31, 1930 in Zanesville to John
and Grace (Jones) Talbott, they preceded him in death. On Jan.
7, 1961 he married Rose Schultz in Fostoria, and she survives.

Marlene Keckler of Fostoria; five sisters, Eulah Kuhn of Arizona,
Alice Tomsey of Bascom, Mary Shiley and Betty Keckler, both

He was born Sept. 10, 1953, in
Findlay, to Donald and Clara Jane (Miller) Thompson who both
survive in Mt. Blanchard. His wife, Nancy C. (Finsel) Thompson,
whom he married April 19, 1980, in the First Christian Church,
Findlay, survives in Mt. Holly Springs.

He married Elizabeth A. "Betty" Goshe on Jan. 9, 1982, in Wesley
United Methodist Church, Fostoria. She survives in Findlay.

She was born Feb. 11, 1930, in
Wyandot County, to Raymond F. and Gertrude M. (Thiry) Collet.
Her mother survives in Findlay. On May 28, 1949, in St. Michael's
Catholic Church, Findlay, she married George "William" Huth,
who preceded her in death July 2, 1976.
Survivors include: two sons, Michael
R. Huth of Manchester, Mass., and Gregory G. Huth of Cleveland;
two daughters, Nancy M. Huth of Muncie, Ind., and Sandra D.
Huth Grosko of Pickerington; two grandchildren; and a brother,
Bernard J. Collet of Mansfield.
Also preceding her in death were
her father and a daughter, Cynthia Huth.
Mrs. Huth, a secretary, was recently
employed by Rural Life Ministry/Diocese of Toledo. She also
served as administrative assistant for Catholic Charities for
18 years and was the former owner/manager, with her husband,
of Commercial Press in Fostoria for 18 years.
She had previously worked as a
secretary at Ohio Oil (now Marathon), Patterson's Department
Store and National Automotive Fibers, all of Findlay.
A 1947 graduate of Findlay High
School, she was a member of St. Wendelin Catholic Church, its
Rosary-Altar Society and the church Finance Committee. She also
served the church as a lector and usher and St. Wendelin Schools
as a former member of the its Advisory Committee, Parish Council
and organizer of its Music Boosters.
She currently served as vice president
of the Board of United Way, vice-chair of the board of Fostoria
Chapter American Red Cross, past president of Altrusa of Fostoria;
former memer of Altrusa District Board and former Camp Fire
leader.
A Mass of Christian Burial will
be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria,
with the rosary recited at 12:30 p.m. Interment will be in the
parish cemetery.

She was born Feb. 15, 1936, in
North Carolina to Winston and Mattie Benson. She married Robert
J. Tuttle on Jan. 1, 1956, and they were divorced.
Surviving are a live-in companion,
John V. McClish, Fostoria; one daughter, Mrs. Richard (Theresa)
Smith, Lowell, Mich.; one son, William of Bowling Green; three
grandchildren; and one sister, Doris Beatty, Wilmington, N.C.
She was preceded in death by one
brother, Boyd Benson.
Mrs. Tuttle retired in 1993 after
working 19 years at the Fostoria Credit Union.
She was a member of St. Wendelin

C. Heilman on March 3, 1934, and she died Sept. 5, 1999.

Rawson; Mrs. Lloyd (Judy) Seymour, Columbus; eight grandchildren;

Pahl, Carey.
He also was preceded in death by

Mr. Tanner was a retired farmer

Eastern Star and social member of Sycamore American Legion Post
250, all in McCutchenville.
Mr. Tanner was a former member
of the Seneca County Fair Board, a member of the Seneca County
Horseman's Association and the Mohawk High School Hall of Fame,
Class of 1999.
He was a member of North Central
Ohio Colt Circuit, Wyandot County Historical Society, Mohawk
Historical Society and was instrumental in starting the Little
League baseball program in McCutchenville.
He also bred, broke and raced his
own horses.

Texas, to Cornelio and Josefina (Cardenas) Trevino. He married
Diane Sperow Oct. 25, 1965, in the St. Patrick's Catholic Church
in Bascom.
He is survived by his wife; his
mother of Laredo, Texas; a son, Barry Trevino of Tiffin; three
daughters, Mrs. Christopher (Beth) Boehler of Tiffin, Mrs. Clark
(Amy) Hubbard of Pax River, Md., and Mrs. Michael (Lori) Dempsey
of Toledo; three brothers, Cornelio Jr., Geraldo and Efrain,
all of Laredo, Texas; two sisters, Mrs. Richard (Josefina) Devine
of Jacksonville, Fla., and Margareta Rodriquez of Laredo; and
five grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were a twin
brother, Cayetano, and an infant brother.
He was in the U. S. Army 1966-1969;
was a 1977 graduate of Terra Technical College with an associate
in applied science, mechanical engineering; attended Heidelberg
College; and was a boiler operator/custodian in the Fostoria
Community Schools;
a member of St. Joseph Catholic
Church and St. Mary Catholic Church; St. Joseph Church Choir;
and Tiffin Eagles Aerie 402.
The rosary will be recited at 10:15
a.m. Monday with funeral Mass following at 10:30 in the St.
Joseph Catholic Church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery
with the United Veterans Council conducting the graveside service.
Visitation is 7-9 p.m. Sunday at
the Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home.

WEST MILLGROVE -- Funeral services
for Nicholas A. "Nick" Stahl, 16, of 6457 N. Main St., West
Millgrove, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Smith-Crates Funeral
Home, North Baltimore, the Rev. Bob Neuhard officiating. Burial
will be in Bradner Cemetery, Wood County.
Visitation will be held from 7-9
p.m. Saturday and from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral
home.
Mr. Stahl died Wednesday evening,
Dec. 8, 1999 in Hatton.
He was born Oct. 4, 1983 in Bowling
Green to Tina M. and Richard L. Stahl Sr. His mother survives
him in North Baltimore, and his father and step-mother, Christina
Stahl, survive him in West Millgrove.
He is also survived by two brothers,
Richard L. Jr. of West Millgrove; and Lucas W. of Fostoria;
two sisters, Jodi Brian, Pemberville; and Katie Lopishok, Helena;
a stepbrother, T.J. Kimble of West Millgrove; and two step sisters,
Chelsea and Brooke Kimble, both of West Millgrove.
He was preceded in death by a sister,
Chrystal E. Stahl.
Mr. Stahl was a 10th grade student
at Elmwood High School.
He was a member of Fostoria Emergency
Corp.

Mr. Stahl died from injuries sustained
in an all-terrain vehicle accident.
Frances E.
Schumm
Ohio Bell retiree
Frances E. Schumm, 80, 182 St.
Francis Ave., died at 3:55 p.m. Monday, Dec. 13, 1999, in St.
Francis Home.
She was born in Tiffin Jan. 10,
1919, to Herman J. and Kathryn E. (Dowdell) Schumm. She had
never married.
Survivors include: a brother, Richard
L. Schumm of Fostoria; two sisters, Gertrude E. Perko of Parma
and Mrs. James M. (Margaret) Deats of Tiffin; and a number of
nieces and nephews.
A 1937 graduate of Calvert High
School, Miss Schumm had been employed as an operator for Ohio
Bell for 44 years.
She was a member of St. Joseph
Catholic Church and its Rosary Altar Society; the Telephone
Pioneers of America and St. Francis Auxiliary.
She served as a volunteer for Mercy
Hospital, the Gray Ladies and Tel-Care, the American Red Cross
and at Bloodmobiles.
A memorial Mass will be at 11 a.m.
Friday in St. Joseph Catholic Church, with the Rev. James K.
Say officiating. The rosary will be recited at 10:45 a.m. Friday
at the church. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
There will be no visitation. The
Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Funeral services for Shirley Ann
Smith, 64, of 1800 Cherry Lane, will be held at 1 p.m. Friday

p.m. today and from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral

Mrs. Smith died at 11 p.m. Monday,
Dec. 13, 1999 at Blanchard Valley Regional Health Center.
She was born Sept. 3, 1935 in Arcadia
to Edward and Eula (Ritter) Vitt. She married Harold "Hoke"
Smith on Sept. 19, 1954 and he survives.
Also surviving are a son, Gary
of Findlay; three daughters, Cindy Ernest, Terri Oates and Kathy
Knox, all of Findlay; eight grandchildren; three step-grandchildren;
six great-grandchildren; four brothers, Tom, Terry, Dan and
Mike Vitt, all of Fostoria; two sisters, Nancy Little and Carol
Kauffman, both of Fostoria.
She was preceded in death by a
brother, Dennis Vitt.
Mrs. Smith was a surgical technician.

Stainbrook, 100, of 1227 S. Blanchard St., will be held at 1

p.m. Thursday at Coldren-Crates Funeral Home, and for an hour
before the services Friday at the church.
Mr. Stainbrook died at 11:23 p.m.
Sunday, Dec. 26, 1999 at Blanchard Valley Regional Health Center.
He was born March 10, 1899 in Kansas
to William and Laura (Yoakum) Stainbrook. He married Mildred
Smith on April 27, 1924, and she died June 21, 1975. He married
Margaret L. Cain on May 26, 1990, and she survives.
Also surviving are a daughter,
Mrs. Vincent (Mary Lou) Derr, Wharton; a stepdaughter, Mrs.
Richard (Marie L.) Peace, Van Buren; a stepson, John W. Cain,
Findlay; 11 grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren;
two step-great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren;
and a sister, Kathryn Dull, Fostoria.
He was preceded in death by an
infant daughter; a stepdaughter, Barbara Byrd; two grandchildren;
a step-grandchild; two brothers, Ralph and George; and a sister,
Ruth Stainbrook.
Mr. Stainbrook was a former welder
at Nye's Implement, Fostoria.
He was a lifelong member of Hope
Lutheran Church in Fostoria, and a current member of First Lutheran
Church, Findlay. He also was a member of Findlay Moose Lodge
698.

F. Bruce Theobald

Fostoria insurance agency co-owner
F. Bruce Theobald Sr., 88, of
Van Buren Street, Fostoria, died at 11:35 a.m. Thursday, Dec.
30, 1999, in the Medical College of Ohio Hospital, Toledo.
He was born in Napoleon, March
25, 1911, to Franklin A. and Laura (Belknap) Theobald. His wife,
Mary Arline (Boyer) Theobald, whom he married in Henry County,
died March 14, 1969. He later married Thelma Barber, who survives
in Fostoria.
Other survivors include: a son,
Bruce Theobald Jr. of Port Clinton; and two grandchildren.
A daughter, Laurel Ann Van Sickle;
and a sister, Helen Parker, also are deceased.
Mr. Theobald, a graduate of Napoleon
High School, the Ohio State University and the Ohio State School
of Law, worked in legal practice in Napoleon for several years
before moving to Fostoria in 1949, where he became a partner
in the Kinn and Theobald Agency, dealing in insurance and real
estate. He retired in 1989.
A former member of the Fostoria
Lions and Kiwanis Clubs, he was a member of the First Presbyterian
Church, Valley Creek Lodge and Elks 935, all of Fostoria.
Also a member of the Fostoria Country
Club, he was an avid golfer, having been the Fostoria Country
Club champion in 1950, 1962 and 64.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m.
Wednesday in the Mann-Hare Funeral Home, Fostoria, with the
Rev. R. Edson Reed officiating. Interment will be in Fountain
Cemetery, Fostoria.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8
p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to a local
Hospice organization.
