Mr. Hoffbauer died at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Jan.
2, 2001 at Elmwood Assisted Living, Tiffin.
He was born May 25, 1912 in Alvada to Peter
and Margaret (Kinn) Hoffbauer. He married Mary Magdelin
Haubert on Nov. 29, 1934 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church,
Frenchtown, and she died March 5, 2000.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Michael (Judy)
Hall, Alvada; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four brothers,
Philemon, Fidalious, Emmett and Ernest; and six sisters,
Helen Finsel, Lucy Mathias, Regina Yost, Rosie and Frances
Hoffbauer, and Sister Irene O.S.F.
Mr. Hoffbauer was owner and operator of
Alvada Tractor Sales.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World
War II.
Mr. Hoffbauer was a member of St. Peter
Catholic Church. He was a member of Eagles Aerie 430 and
a third-degree member of Knights of Columbus Council 1197,
both of Fostoria; and American Legion 354 and Moose Lodge
872, both of New Riegel.

Mrs. Hemmerly died at 12:40 p.m. Thursday,
Jan. 4, 2001 at Wyandot Manor Nursing Home, Upper Sandusky.
She was born July 3, 1927 in Marion County
to Emil and Ruth (Smith) Mattix. She married Paul Hemmerly
on July 24, 1946, and he survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Gary and
Roger, both of Forest; and Rodney of Dunkirk; a daughter,
Susan Myers, Fostoria; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren;
a brother, Donald Mattix, Marion; and a sister, Ruby Herr,
Marion.
She was preceded in death by a brother,
Cecil Mattix; and a sister, Shirley Mattix.
Mrs. Hemmerly was a homemaker.
She graduated from Meeker High School,
and was a 7th degree member of the former York St. Grange,
Marseilles.

Robert L. Haldeman, 84, of Rock Drive, Fostoria,
died at 11:05 p.m. Monday, Jan. 8, 2001, in St. Catherine's
Care Center, Fostoria.
He was born Oct. 19, 1916, in Westerville,
to the Rev. Edward and Bessie (Lee) Haldeman. On Feb. 6,
1942, in Fostoria, he married Dorothy A. Sauler, who survives
in Fostoria.
Other survivors include: a daughter, Mrs.
Jeffery (Sandra Lee) Markle of New Zealand; a brother, John
Haldeman of Mesa, Ariz.; a sister, Betty Alge of Chardon;
and two grandchildren.
Also deceased are two brothers, Paul and
Charles Haldeman; and a sister, Emma Walters.
Mr. Haldeman, a World War II U.S. Army veteran,
retired from the Union Carbide Co. in Fostoria after more
than 30 years of service.
A 1934 graduate of Findlay High School,
he also attended Findlay College.
The Rev. Branson Hawkes will be the officiant
at the 11 a.m. Thursday service in the Harrold-Floriana
Funeral Home, Fostoria. Burial will be in Fountain Cemetery,
Fostoria.

Retired pharmacist
Maurice L. "Mauri" Harry, 69, of Brookstone
Drive, Findlay, died at his residence at 11:55 a.m. Saturday,
Jan. 20, 2001.
He was born July 31, 1931, in Edgerton,
to the late Haven C. and Donelda M. (Myers) Harry. He first
married Julia A. Hart in June 1953, and they were divorced.
He later married Barbara M. Snyder-Hunt on June 4, 1983,
in Fostoria. She survives in Findlay.
Other survivors include: two sons, Bruce
W. Harry of Bartlett, Ill., and Dr. Steven S. Harry of Ft.
Wayne, Ind.; a daughter, Mrs. Gary (Sally A.) Redrup of
Maumee; two step-sons, Allen M. Hunt of Jacksonville, Fla.,
and Gale D. Hunt of Arcadia; two step-daughters, Mrs. Clifford
(Pamela) Elkins of Milton, Fla., and Mrs. Robert (Leann)
Nye of Ada; four grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren;
and four step-great-grandchildren.
Mr. Harry, a 39-year pharmacist, worked
at the Union Prescription Center in Fostoria for 21 years,
retiring in 1992.
A member of Wesley United Methodist Church,
Fostoria, he was a 1949 graduate of Bryan High School and
a 1953 graduate of the University of Toledo, with a bachelor
of science degree in pharmacy.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the
Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home, Fostoria, with the Rev. David
Bringman officiating. Interment will be in Shiffler Cemetery,
Bryan.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday

Joyce A. Ingram, 69, of Truman Drive, Fostoria,
died at 4:44 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2001, in the Good Shepherd
Nursing Home, Fostoria.
She was born Feb. 15, 1931, in Wood County,
to George and Dorothy (Fullmer) Long. Her mother survives
in Bowling Green. On Sept. 27, 1948, in Fostoria, she married
Miles M. Ingram, who survives in Fostoria.
Other survivors include: two daughters,
Sharon Reinhard of Fostoria and Chandra Ingram of Windsor,
Ontario; a brother, James Long of Bloomdale; two sisters,
Susie McCracken and Linda Crawford, both of Bowling Green;
two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Her father and a brother, Frank Long, also
are deceased.
Mrs. Ingram, a 1948 graduate of Jackson-Liberty
High School, retired from the human resources department
of Seneca Wire in Fostoria.

Max Rhea Hamm, 74, of 16206 Highway 115,
Maynard, Arkansas, died Friday, December 22, 2000 at Randolph
County Medical Center.
Mr. Hamm was a member of the Randolph County
Quorum Court. He was born March 14, 1926 in Randolph County,
Arkansas. He was the son of the late Crawford and Jessie
(Mock) Hamm. He was a cattle farmer.
He is survived by his wife, Mary (Brady)
Hamm of the home, a step-son Gary Dennison of Townville,
S.C. and a step-daughter, Trudy Robson, of Payson, Arizona.
Funeral services were held Sunday
afternoon in the Chapel of McNabb Funeral Home with John
Knotts officiating. Burial following in the Maynard Cemetery.

Rita M. Hanson, 75, of Fostoria died at
12:52 a.m., Sunday, Feb. 11, 2001, in the Fremont Memorial
Hospital.
Mrs. Hanson was born June 26, 1925, in
Alvada to Roman J. and Loretta C. (Welter) Hoffbauer. On
June 29, 1946, she married William P. Hanson at St. Wendelin
Catholic Church and he died Oct. 24, 1999. Also deceased
is a sister, Esther S. Stein.
Survivors include: two sons, Donald P.
and Ronald P. both of Fostoria; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild;
a brother, Arles Hoffbauer of Boise, Idaho; and three sisters,
Pauline E. Kuhn and Lucille A. Huth both of Fostoria and
Virginia Carpenter of California.
She retired in 1975 from Ford Motor Co.
(now Honeywell) in Fostoria where she was an assembler.

Mr. Holman was born March 25, 1930, in Hancock
County to Alfred P. and Isabel (Goshe) Holman. He married
Irene E. Cassidy on June 20, 1953, at St. Wendelin Catholic
Church, and she survives.

of Helena, Daniel of New Riegel, Phillip of McClure, Dwight
of Risingsun and Christopher of Kansas; eight daughters,

in her home. She was born Nov. 23, 1926, in Fostoria, to
Orrel and Mary (Ropp) Brubaker; and married Joe Haughawout
Nov. 25, 1944, in Lexington, Ky.
Survivors include: her husband of Fostoria;
two sons, John of Findlay and Duncan of Fostoria; a daughter,
Mrs. Duane (Christine) Luckey of Worthington; and 11 grandchildren.
A brother, Richard Brubaker, is deceased.
Mrs. Haughawout was a 1944 graduate of Fostoria
High School; a homemaker; and a member of Wesley United
Methodist Church, Fostoria, and of the Fostoria American
Legion Ladies Auxiliary.

Owen J. Hunker, 77, died Friday morning,
March 9, 2001, at his home on Dana Street in Lima.
He was born June 21, 1923, in Sandusky,
to Owen and Dorothy (Grohe) Hunker. On Dec. 30, 1943, in
Fostoria, he married Margaret L. Martin, who preceded him
in death May 28, 1989.
Surviving are five sons, James and Randy
Hunker, both of Fostoria, Larry Hunker of Tucson, Ariz.,
Marc Hunker of Tiffin and Jeffrey Hunker of New Martinsville,
W.Va.; three daughters, Brenda Doak of Delaware, Ohio, Carol
Jones of Fostoria and Kay Twining of Aurora, Ill.; four
brothers, Sam Hunker of Daytona Beach, Fla., George Hunker
of Sandusky and Paul and Richard Hunker, both of of Englewood,
Fla.; four sisters, Ruth Ehrnsberger of Sandusky, Mary Alice
Boissoneault of Sheffield Lake, Lois Winland of Pocatello,
Idaho and Shirley Watts of Venice, Fla.; 18 grandchildren
and six great-grandchildren.
Also preceding him in death were a daughter,
Rebecca Brandt; a grandchild; two brothers, Louis and Burton
Hunker; and a sister, Marion Hunker.
Mr. Hunker, a World War II U.S. Army veteran,
retired in 1982 as a maintenance supervisor from Atlas Crankshaft
Co. in Fostoria, after more than 30 years of service.

Park and Gladys (Boday) Hale. He married Lois Bernadine
Clark on May 9, 1936 in Fostoria, and she died May 18, 1996.
Surviving are a son, Ronald "Skip" of Fostoria;
a daughter, Mrs. William (Roberta) Baxter, Benson, Ariz.;
six grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren;
a step-great-grandchild; six great-great-grandchildren;
and two sisters, Lucy Cook, in Iowa; and Lois Sapp, Cocoa
Beach, Fla.
Mr. Hale was a retired electrician from
Union Carbide in Fostoria.

Private graveside services for Chad M. Howett,
31, of Huron, and formerly of Fostoria, will be held at

Mr. Howett died Thursday afternoon, March
22, 2001 at his residence.
He was born Sept. 3, 1969 in Tiffin to Anthony
and Cheryl (Morgan) Howett, and they survive in Fostoria.
Also surviving are a sister, Mrs. Craig
(Toni) Dukes, Kokomo, Ind.; paternal grandmother, Evelyn
Howett, Fostoria; and maternal grandmother Elizabeth Morgan,
Fostoria.
Mr. Howett was a supervisor at Lear Corp.,
and owned and operated Bucko's Bar in Huron.
He graduated from Huron High School in 1987,
and received a bachelor's degree in communications from
Ohio State University in 1991.
He was a member of Phi Kappa Tau.

died at 5:10 p.m., Tuesday, March 27, 2001, at her residence.
She was born in Artamus, PA., to Gordon
and Leah Smith.
Surviving are daughters; Leona Clagg and
Ruthann Little, both of Fostoria, and Leota Dieterle of
West Millgrove, six grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren
and one great-great-grandchild.
Deceased are a brother, Woodrow Smith and
two grandchildren.
Mrs. Fay retired from Autolite, March 1979,
after 30 years of employment and was a member of the First
Christian Church and the Moose Lodge in Fostoria.

HANGSTELER, MABEL E.
Mabel E. Hangsteler, 94, of 2749 Crystal
Ave., Findlay, died at 11:46 a.m., Tuesday, March 27, 2001,
at Blanchard Valley Regional Health Center.
She was born on June 13, 1906, in Fostoria,
to Sumner G. and Mary (Darst) McHaffie. On June 10, 1931,
in Risingsun, she married Rollin E. Hengsteler. He died
Dec. 13, 1998.
Survivors include two grandchildren and
three great-grandchildren.
Also deceased are: two sons, Eugene Richard
and Dwight Owen Hengsteler; three brothers, Lloyd, Nash
and Clifford McHaffie; and two sisters, Neva Graves and
Florence Sager.
Mrs. Hengsteler, a homemaker, was a graduate
of Risingsun High School, and a member of AARP, the Salem
United Methodist Church, Findlay, and a former member of
the Grange.
The Rev. Ben Lowell will officiate services
at 11 a.m., Saturday, at the Mann-Hare Funeral Home, Fostoria.
Interment will be at the Graham Cemetery in Wayne.

William E. Hoerig, 70, of 473 N. Sandusky
St., died Thursday, April 12, 2001, at his residence.
He was born July 21, 1930, in Tiffin, to
Carl L. and Ruth (Bish) Hoerig. On March 22, 1949, at St.
Joseph Church in Lawrenceburg, Ind., he married Margrette
Elchert, and she survives.
Survivors also include: sons, Rick T. Hoerig
of Fostoria, Michael A. Hoerig of Tiffin, Daniel J. Hoerig
of Fostoria, Kevin J. and Christopher L. Hoerig, both of
Tiffin, and Steven J. Hoerig of Fostoria; daughters, Mrs.
James (Diana) Omlor of Fostoria, Cheryl Burns of Bettsville,
Mrs. Marty (Teresa) McQuistion and Nancy Fleming both of
Tiffin; brothers Mel Hoerig of Florida, Harold Hoerig of
Tiffin, James Hoerig of Michigan and Harry Hoerig of Wakeman;
32 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are: a son, Larry E. Hoerig, a
brother, Charles Hoerig, two infant sisters, and a grandson,
Andrew James Omlor.
Mr. Hoerig attended Melmore Public Schools
and was employed at ITT Abrasives as a wheel balancer, and
J. A. Miller Tile Co. in Bascom.
He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church,
the Eagles Aerie 402 and Moose Lodge 846. He was an avid
camper, fisherman and gardener.

George E. Ingram, 74, of Park Ave., in Fostoria,
died Sunday, April 15, 2001, at his home.
He was born March 4, 1927, in Marion, Ohio,
to Miles and Cora (Hale) Ingram. On May 5, 1947, in Tiffin,
he married Mildred Niswander and she survives in Fostoria.
Other survivors include sons, Robert Ingram
of Taylor, MI, Howard Laney of Fostoria, and Ronald Laney
of Cripple Creek , Ky., brothers, Miles Ingram of Fostoria,
and Lloyd Ingram of Washington; sisters, Elnora Hainen of
Findlay and Phyllis Correll of Fostoria; 11 grandchildren
andd 11 great-grandchildren.
Deceased is a sister, Mary Jane Krotzer.
Mr. Ingram retired in 1989 as a Millwright
at Chrysler Corp. in Trenton, Mich., and was a WWII U. S.
Navy Veteran.

Annabel Horner, 84, of 1302 North Drive,
Fostoria, died at 12:55 a.m. Thursday, April 26, 2001 at
Blanchard Valley Regional Health Center, Findlay. She was
born Aug. 8, 1916 in Risingsun to Noble and Gail (Forriter)
Loe.
She married Alvin B. Horner on Oct. 1, 1938
in Fostoria, and he died Dec. 3, 1984.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Gerald (Karis)
Matz, Risingsun; and a grandchild. Mrs. Horner was a teacher
for 26 years, and also taught piano for many years.
She was a member of High Street United Methodist
Church, Fostoria, and its Bereans and Pathfinders, and was
a lay reader. She was past president of Alpha Sigma Chapter
of Delta Gamma Kappa; was a 50-year member of Silver Star
Circle of Kings Daughters; and was a Jennings Scholar.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m.
Saturday at the church, the Rev. Jeffrey Waite officiating.
Burial will be in Fountain Cemetery, Fostoria.

Albert Ronald Hemminger, 63, of 7 W. Market
St., Tiffin, died at 4:50 a.m. Friday, May 4, 2001, at Arbors
Nursing Home of Clyde.
He was born July 28, 1937, in Tiffin, to
Howard and Mary (Mareches) Hemminger. His mother survives
in Tiffin. He married Janet Weber and they later separated.
She survives.
Other survivors include: two daughters,
Shari Bryant and Tiffany Hohman, both of Fostoria; two step-sons,
Jeffrey A. Hohman of Tiffin and Kenneth L. Hohman of Fostoria,
a brother, Dalbert Hamminger of Tiffin; a sister, Mrs. Tom
(Mary Ann) Burwell of Tiffin, and 12 grandchildren.
Deceased are: his father, Howard Hemminger;
and two brothers, John R. Hemminger and Theodore J. "Teddy"
Stevenson.
Mr. Hemminger, a member of St. Joseph Catholic
Church in Tiffin, was a laborer at National Machinery and
OHM Materials, and retired. Additionally, he was a crossing
guard and a taxi driver.
Graveside services will take place at 1
p.m. Monday at St. Joseph Cemetery, with the Rev. Richard
Hofmann officiating.

Mildred F. Ingram, 78, of Park Ave., Fostoria,
died at 4:28 a.m., Sunday, May 6, 2001, at the Medical College
of Ohio in Toledo.
She was born on May 22, 1922, in Fostoria,

Ingram of Taylor, Mich., a brother, LaVerne Niswander of
Fostoria; two sisters, Norma Fillhart of Fostoria, and Leona
Smith of McComb; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Deceased are: four brothers, Dale, Jack,
Cloyd and Bob Niswander; and five sisters, Thelma Thomas,
Ruth Rinebold, Margie Zuern, Donna Reidling and Doris Myers.
Mrs. Ingram attended Trinity United Brethren
Church of Fostoria and was a homemaker.
Services will take place at 11 a.m., Wednesday,
at the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home in Fostoria. The Rev.
Keith Davis will be the officiant. Burial will be in the
Fountain Cemetery in Fostoria.

HUNT, BETTY J.
Betty J. Hunt, 70, of North Vine Street,
Fostoria, died at 2:51 p.m. Tuesday, May 22, 2001 at St.
Charles Hospital, Toledo.
She was born March 5, 1931 in Leon, W.Va.,
to John H. and Virginia B. (Davis) Sayre. She married William
P. Hunt on Feb. 2, 1952 in Cottageville, W.Va., and he survives.
Also surviving are a son, Mickey A. of Fostoria;
three daughters, Mrs. Larry (Vicki) West, Chesterfield,
Ind.; Mrs. Richard (Paula) Reinhart and Heather Hunt, both
of Fostoria; a sister, Nellie Casto, Evans, W.Va.; seven
grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, five step-grandchildren
and two step-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Hunt retired in 1991 from Airfoil Textron
(formerly Ex-Cell-O Corp.) after more than 30 years.
She was a member of First Christian Church,
Fostoria, and Fostoria Women's Club. She was a 1949 graduate
of Ripley High School, Ripley, W.Va.

HUTH, HAROLD P.
Harold "Hootie" P. Huth, 79, of 146 W. Sixth
St., died at 2:12 a.m., Sunday, June 3, 2001, in St. Catherine's
Care Center in Fostoria.
He was born July 5, 1921, in Fostoria, to
Eugene and Virgil "Virgie" (Bohyer) Huth. On Jan. 24, 1942,
in Fostoria, he married Betty Ohls and she survives in Fostoria.
Survivors also include: a son, Robert A.
Huth of Findlay; and two grandchildren, Brandon R. and Amy
Jo Huth.
Preceding him in death also include a half-brother,
Joe Kahler.
Mr. Huth retired in 1987, after 38 years
as an Appliance Sales Associate with Sears, in Fostoria
and Findlay.
He was a member of St. Wendelin Catholic
Church, the Fostoria American Legion Post 73, a 1939 graduate
of St. Wendelin High School, and the Fostoria Country Club.
Additionally he was a U.S. Army Veteran having served in
WWII.
Services will take place at 11 a.m., Wednesday,
at the Hoening Funeral Home in Fostoria. Burial will be
in Knollcrest Cemetery, near Arcadia.

Verta F. Hendricks, 81, of S. Poplar St.,
died at 9:35 a.m., Thursday, June 7, 2001, at Good Shepherd
Nursing Home in Fostoria.
She was born Sept. 11,1919, in Fostoria,
to S. Oden and Myrtle (Folk) Martin. On Nov. 15, 1939, in
Fostoria, she married Arthur D. Hendricks. He died March
19, 1985.
Survivors include: a brother, Melvin Reynolds
of McComb; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased include: a brother, Don Reynolds;
and a sister, Virginia Woodruff. Mrs. Hendricks was a homemaker,
a member of the Fostoria Baptist Church, and a former volunteer
at St. Catherine's Care Center in Fostoria.
Services will take place at 11 a.m., Monday,
at the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home in Fostoria, with the
Rev. David Chapman officiting. Burial will be in Knollcrest

W.Va.; and a sister, Loretta Ernestine "Tine" McMillan,

He was preceded in death by a brother, Charles.
Mr. Jackson was a retired truck driver for
W. Hoops Trucking Co.
He was a member of FOE Aerie 2118, and played
stringed instruments in various area bands for more than
50 years.

in the home of his daughter.
Mr. Hall was born May 9, 1941, in Parkersburg,
W.V. He married Evagean Enochs and they divorced.
Survivors include: two sons, Colbert Hall
Jr., and Lloyd Hall of Fostoria; eight daughters, Angie
Terrell of Wharton, Sheri Terrell and Wilma Terrell of Butler,
Pa., Margaret Hall of Tiffin, Pamela Craft, Edith Hall,
Brenda Hall and Samantha Hall all of Fostoria; 28 grandchildren;
three great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Rich Hall of
Marion and Jake Hall of West Virginia.
A son, David Lee Hall, preceded him in death.
He was a plumber for Bingle Plumbing of
Fostoria; a member of the Army National Guard; and a former
member of the Amvets, Tiffin.

Marlene A. Hartman, 45, of 152 Golfview
Drive in Tiffin, died Monday, July 23, 2001, at her residence.
She was born in Tiffin, Aug. 12, 1955, to
Alvin and Vanetta T. (Schalk) Theis. He is deceased and
she survives in New Riegel. She married Gary Hartman on
June 9, 2001, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in New Riegel.
He survives in Tiffin.
Survivors also include: a stepson, Greg
Hartman of Tiffin; and four brothers, Robert and Joseph
Theis both of Fostoria, Steven Theis of Tiffin, and David
Theis of New Riegel.
Mrs. Hartman was a graduate of New Riegel
H.S. and Tiffin Academy of Hair Design. She was owner of
Marlene Hair Classic in New Riegel and co-owner of T-N-T
Pizza in Sycamore and New Riegel.
She was a past member of the New Riegel
Village Council, was village grant writer; member of the
Moose Auxiliary; and a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church
in New Riegel.
The rosary will be recited at 10:15 a.m.
followed by Mass at10:30 a.m. Friday, at St. Boniface Catholic
Church, New Riegel. The Rev. Harry Cavanaugh C.P.P.S will

Frances Marie Hitchings, 94, formerly of

She was born Aug. 10, 1907, in Fostoria
to John and Millie (Fruth) Diebley. She married William
Hitchings on July 30, 1955, at West Independence United
Methodist Church, and he died in 1981.
Surviving are two stepsons, William Hitchings,
Port Clinton; James Hitchings, Arcadia; 13 step-grandchildren;
15 step-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mildred Dreisbach,
Fostoria; and Ruth Sullenberger, Carey.
She was preceded in death by two stepsons,
Robert and Raymond Hitchings; and two brothers, Harold and
Elton Diebley.
Mrs. Hitchings was a former employee of
the A&P Store and John B. Rogers Productions, both of Fostoria.
She was a graduate of Fostoria High School.
She was a member of West Independence United
Methodist Church and its United Methodist Women. She was
a charter member and secretary/treasurer of Arcadia Senior
Citizens.

Henretty. On March 19, 1926 she married Norman C. Heilman
in Old Fort. He is deceased.

of Syracuse, N.Y.; five daughters, Mrs. Lois Christner of
Wolcottville, Ind., Mrs. Margaret Faunce of Burgoon, Mrs.
Jean Sprow of Toledo, Mrs. Beatrice Vallimont of Helena
and Mrs. Joyce Brose of Fostoria: 26 grandchildren, 26 great
grandchildren and a great-great grandchild.

She was born Oct. 12, 1907, in Bloomdale
to Tom and Cora (Kieffer) Dunn. She married L.W. "Bill"
Jones on Dec. 26, 1927, in Fostoria, and he died in 1972.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Andrew (Donna)
Holodnak, Castalia; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by six brothers
and five sisters.
Mrs. Jones was a homemaker.
She was a member of St. Wendelin Catholic
Church, Fostoria, and its Rosary Altar Society. She was
an honorary member of St. Wendelin Circle of Mercy; and
an American Red Cross volunteer.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated
at 10 a.m. Saturday at the church. Burial will be in the

Hartley on Jan. 28, 1939, and he died Nov. 7, 1979. She
then married Loy L. Wickard in 1980, and he died in 1990.
She married Howard E. Harris Oct. 31, 1992, and he survives.

Findlay; a daughter, Mrs. Dan (Pat) Gorrill, Fostoria; five
grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers,
Milan, Loran and Elsworth Scovill; and three sisters, Zeta

Mrs. Harris retired as an assembler from
Autolite, Fostoria, after 30 years. She was a member of

on Oct. 10, 1939, and he died Oct. 20, 1981.

Shuff, Tiffin; Mrs. John (Lucretia) Curtis, Sylvania; and
a brother, James Bare, rural McCutchenville.
She was preceded in death by a sister and
a brother.
Mrs. Heilman had worked four years at McDonalds,
Ashland. She previously worked 20 years at Good Shepherd
Nursing Home, Fostoria; and retired from the former Bendix
plant, Fostoria, after 31 years.
She was a member of Trinity United Church
of Christ, McCutchenville, and a 50-year member of William
Myers OES Chapter 196, McCutchenville.
She was a 1940 graduate of McCutchenville
High School.

to William R. Hopple and Georgia J. Sterling. His father
survives in Van Buren, and his mother survives in Fostoria.

both of Fostoria; a sister, Betsy L. Sterling, Fostoria;
a half sister, Danielle Cook, in Florida; a paternal grandmother,

Jeremiah was a junior at Elmwood High School,
where he participated in the Occupational Work Experience
(OWE) Program. He worked at Burger King in Bowling Green,
and was a former employee of Striff Insurance Agency, Findlay.

Clyde E. Henning, 91, formerly of 342 Davis

William and Nellie (Parr) Henning. He married Bertha F.
Simon on June 16, 1935, and she died Oct. 29, 1988.

five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a sister,

Virgil Hull, 79, 127 Ella St., died at 3:55
p.m. Sunday, Oct. 14, 2001, in St. Vincent Mercy Medical
Center, Lucas County, Toledo, where he had been a patient
since Saturday.
He was born Dec. 11, 1921, in Bloomville
to the late Ralph and Fanny (Firestone) Hull. On July 4,
1948, in Toledo he married Gwendolyn Zoll, who preceded
him in death Aug. 9, 1997.
Surviving are a son, Michael J. Hull of
Tiffin; a daughter, Mrs. George (Rebecca A.) Shaull of Risingsun;
seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a half brother,
Michael Firestone; and two half sisters, Jeannette Firestone
of Fostoria and Mary Thacker.
Also preceding him in death were two sisters,
Jane Sours and Marjorie Knepper.
Mr. Hull, a member of Ebenezer United Methodist
Church, retired as a foreman from the Seneca County Highway
Department.
He also was a member of the Boy Scouts of
America, where he served as a leader for over 30 years and
received the Silver Beaver Award.
He served in the U.S. Army in the Philippines
during World War II, and he received a Purple Heart.
He had lived most of his life in Tiffin.
The Rev. Scott Hayward will be the officiant
at the 10 a.m. Wednesday service in the Turner-Engle Funeral
Home. Burial will be in Fairmont Cemetery, with military
services held at the graveside.

HEINZE, MILDRED
Mildred Heinze, 80, of 1521 N. Countyline
St. in Fostoria died at 11:35 a.m.
Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2001, at St. Catherine's
Care Center, Fostoria.
She was born Jan. 9, 1921, in Gallia County,
Ohio to Lewis and Pansy (Walsh)
Spires. Both are deceased. She married Delbert Heinze on
December 28, 1967,
in Findlay and he survives in Fostoria.
Survivors also include: a brother, Ted Spires
of Defiance; four sisters,
Dorothy Underwood of Fostoria, Hilda French of
McConnelsville, Ohio, Virginia Addlesburger of Gallipolis,
and Marie Powers
of Huntington, W. Va.
Preceding her in death include: six brothers,
Clair, Stanley, Emerson,
Chester, Ralph, and Lawrence Spires; and two sisters,
Frances Price and Margie Gardner.
Mrs. Heinze was a homemaker and a member
of the Fostoria Eagles Auxiliary;
Ladies of the Moose; and VFW Auxiliary of
Fostoria.
Services will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday
in Hoening Funeral Home in
Fostoria. The Rev. David Chapman will be the officiant.
Burial will be in
Knollcrest Gardens in Arcadia.
Visitation is 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at
the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the
donor's choice.
HUFFMAN, MARY E.
Mary E. Huffman, 76, of 642 McDougal St.,
Fostoria, Ohio, died at 11:09 p.m.
Tuesday Nov. 20, 2001, in Fostoria Community Hospital.
She was born Oct. 22, 1925, in Fostoria,
Ohio, to the late Floyd Petre and
Alice J. (Kauffman) Petre-Laipply. Her husband,
Donald R. Huffman, whom she married Dec. 19, 1953, in Angola,
Ind., survives
in Fostoria.
Other survivors include: a son, Robert T.
Huffman of Fostoria; a
granddaughter, two great-grandchildren and two brothers,
Thor Laipply of
Payne, Ohio and Victor Petre of Mid West City, Okla.
Mary had been a cook for several Fostoria
area restaurants. She started the
"Adopt a Pet" program and helped find homes for
over 5800 pets in many area
cities. She also was known as the "Afghan Lady,"
making and showing dozens
of her prize
winning afghans. She did survey work and solicitations for
the American
Heart Association, American Cancer Society and volunteer
work for Fostoria
Altrusa Club.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday
in the Hoening Funeral Home,
Fostoria. Burial will be in Knollcrest Gardens,
Arcadia.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday
at Hoening Funeral Home,
Fostoria.

HAMMER, CLYDE C.
Clyde C. Hammer, 76, of 399 W. Zeller Road,
Fostoria, died at 11:15 a.m.
Friday, Nov. 23,
2001, at his residence.
He was born Nov. 23, 1925, in Fostoria
to Clarence J. and Eunice I. (Penn)
Hammer. He married
Mildred T. "Millie" Kelbley on Sept. 4, 1954,
at St. Wendelin Catholic
Church, and she survives.
Also surviving are a son, Ron C. of West
Bend, Wis.; three grandchildren;
a great-grandchild; a sister,
LaDonna Smalley, McComb; and four brothers, Owen and Frederick,
both of
Fostoria; and Alton and
Earl, both of Houston, Texas.
He was preceded in death by three brothers,
Clarence, Gerald and Bernard.
Mr. Hammer retired in 1988 as a real estate
developer and broker in
Fostoria. He also had worked for
Brown Pacific Maxon Construction Company in Guam for four
years and was a
certified real estate
appraiser.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran who served in
the Scout & Radar Division, where
he received a Bronze
Star. He also volunteered into the Sino-American Cooperative
Organization,
also known as Navy Group
of China -- The Rice Paddy Navy.
He graduated from Fostoria High School
in 1944, and attended Bowling Green
State University.
He was past president of Fostoria Board
of Realtors, and a member of U.S.
Chess Federation, U.S.
Powersquadron and American Legion Post 73, Fostoria. He
was a former
member of Elks.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated
at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St.
Wendelin Catholic Church,
Fostoria. Burial will be in the parish cemetery, with military
rites by
United Veterans of Fostoria.
Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 7-9
p.m. Monday at Hoening Funeral
Home, Fostoria, where a
rosary will be recited at 8:30 p.m. A rosary also will be
recited at 10
a.m. Tuesday at the church.

JOHNSON, RALPH
Ralph Johnson, 69, of St. Catherine's Care
Center, Fostoria, and formerly of Spruce Street, Fostoria,
died at 9:17 a.m., Friday, Nov. 30, 2001, in Fostoria Community
Hospital.
He was born Jan. 13, 1932, in Fostoria,
to Andrew and Mary (White) Johnson who are both deceased.
He married Ethel J. Baker on Feb. 16, 1957, in Toledo, and
she survives in Fostoria.
Other survivors include: a daughter, Mrs.
Glenn (Laurie) Camp of Beavertown, Pa.; a grandchild; six
brothers, William of San Diego, Calif., Melvin of Phoenix,
Ariz., Jesse, John and James all of Fostoria, and Nathaniel
White of Atlanta, Ga.; and three sisters, Louise Johnson
of San Diego, Calif., Mildred Ramsey and Dorothy Lyburtus
both of Fostoria.
He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean
War.
There will be private graveside services
at Fountain Cemetery, Fostoria.
Mann-Hare Funeral Home, Fostoria, is handling
the arrangements.
HINSON, DIANE L.
Funeral services for Diane L. Hinson, 48,
of Park Avenue, Fostoria, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday
at Nopper-Veh Funeral Home, Gibsonburg. Burial will be in
Metzgar Cemetery, Helena.
Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 7-9
p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Ms. Hinson died of natural causes Saturday
evening, Dec. 1, 2001, at her residence.
She was born Aug. 29, 1953, in Fremont to
Roy and Lilly (Kern) Sterling. Her mother survives in Gibsonburg.
Also surviving are a son, Lance of Gibsonburg;
and a grandchild.
She was preceded in death by a daughter,
Bobbie Jo; and two brothers, Earl and Leroy Sterling.
Ms. Hinson was a factory assembler at Honeywell
Corp., Fostoria.
She was a 1971 graduate of Gibsonburg High
School.

HUNT, WILLIAM P.
William P. Hunt, 73, of Fostoria, died at
3:43 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2001, at Toledo Hospital.
He was born Nov. 7, 1928, in Cottageville,
W. Va., to the late William H. and Velma (Nutt) Hunt. He
married Betty J. Sayre Feb. 2, 1952, in Cottageville, W.
Va. She died May 22, 2001.
Survivors include: a son, Mickey Hunt of
Fostoria; three daughters, Mrs. Larry (Vicki) West of Chesterfield,
Ind., Mrs. Richard (Paula) Reinhart, and Heather Hunt, both
of Fostoria; two brothers, Robert Hunt of Titusville, FL
and Curtis Hunt of Letart, W.VA, a sister, Mrs. Gary (Lois)
Hoffman of Letart, W.VA, sevel grandchildren, five step-grandchildren,
six great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren.
Services will take place at 11 a.m. Friday
at the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home in Fostoria. Burial
will be in Knollcrest Gardens near Arcadia.
Visitation is 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., December
6, at the funeral home.
