Smith, Kenneth P.
Retired farmer

Kenneth P. Smith, 72, of 3274 W. TR 98, New Riegel, died at his residence at 9:30 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 31, 2000.

He was born Oct. 5, 1928, in Seneca County, to Albert and Martha (Welly) Smith. On June 11, 1955, in St. Mary Catholic Church, Tiffin, he married Mary A. Bogner, who survives.

Survivors also include: three sons, Mark A., Gary L. and Greg P. Smith, all of New Riegel; two daughters, Mrs. Daniel (Cindy) Holman and Mrs. Larry (Sandy) Bouillon, both of New Riegel; three brothers, Carl Smith of Fostoria, Richard Smith of Tiffin and Myron Smith of Sandusky; a sister, Catherine Schalk of New Riegel; nine grandchildren and a step-grandchild.

A half sister, Alice Seitz; and two brothers, Alfred and Maurice, also preceded him in death.

Mr. Smith, a lifetime grain and livestock farmer, was retired. He also had worked at the former Miller Tile Yard in Bascom.

He was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, New Riegel and a former member of the Bascom Elevator Board of Directors.

He enjoyed attending farm auctions.

A funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in St. Boniface Catholic Church, with the Rev. Scott Kramer C.PP.S. and the Rev. Leonard Kistler C.PP.S., as concelebrants. The rosary will be recited at 10:15 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Visitation will be 2-9 p.m. Tuesday in the Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home, where a Christian wake service will take place at 4 p.m.

Memorials may be made to New Riegel EMS, the American Cancer Society-Seneca County Unit, Community Hospice Care or the donor's choice.


Sendelbach, Edna Marie
Homemaker

Edna Marie (Adelsperger) Sendelbach, 79, 39 Braden Court, died at 6:45 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 14, 2001, in the Autumnwood Care Center.

She was born July 22, 1921, in Seneca County, to Burton and Callie (Sellers) Adelsperger. Her husband, Robert Sendelbach Sr., whom she married July 29, 1944, in St. Patrick Rectory, Bascom, survives.

Other survivors include: two sons, Robert C. Jr. and Donald Sendelbach, both of rural Tiffin; a brother, Harold Adelsperger of Fostoria; five grandsons, two granddaughters and three great-grandsons.

Also preceding her in death were a sister, Ethel Shultz Smith and three brothers, Cecil, Russell and Wilbur Adelsperger.

Mrs. Sendelbach, an avid bingo player, had worked at Montgomery Wards and at the D of A Home. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church.

The Rev. Frank A. Murd will be the celebrant at the 10 a.m. Thursday funeral Mass in St. Mary Catholic Church. The rosary will be recited at the church at 9:45 a.m. Thursday. Burial will be in St. Andrew Cemetery, Liberty Township.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday in the Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home, where a wake service will take place at 7:45 p.m.

Thraikill, Harriette
Former Fostorian

Word has been received of the death of Harriette Thrailkill, formerly of Fostoria.

Thrailkill, 88, died Dec. 26, 2000 at 11:20 a.m. in Galesburg Cottage Hospital, Galesburg, Ill.

She was born Sept. 11, 1912 in Fostoria to Clarence and Chloe (Mills) McClead. She married Paul Thrailkill March 1, 1941 in Fostoria and he died March 30, 1987.

Surviving are a son, Sidney P. Thrailkill, Galesburg; two daughters, Sandra Banks, Galesburg; and Judith Rowe, Mount Zion; three sisters, Lillian Wice, Fawn McClung, and Beth Butler, all of Fostoria; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Thrailkill had lived in Galesburg since 1950. She had been employed as a cashier at O.T. Johnson’s Department Store. She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church. She was a volunteer at Galesburg Cottage Hospital for 13 years.

Funeral service was Dec. 29, 2000 in Faith United Methodist Church, the Rev. Kevin Treptow officiating. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Faith United Methodist Church and the Cottage Hospital Guild.

Arrangements were made by Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Home.


Shaver, Daniel P.
Auto accident victim

 

Funeral services for Daniel P. Shaver, 35, of 310 Washington St., will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Coldren-Crates Funeral Home, the Rev. Terry McBeath officiating. Burial will be in Graham Cemetery, Wayne.

Visitation will be held from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mr. Shaver died from injuries suffered in a car accident on U.S. 224, two miles west of Tiffin, at 8:30 p.m. Sunday.

He was born Nov. 5, 1965 in Findlay to Duane R. and Mary L. (Stearns) Shaver. His mother, now Mary Wiseman, survives in Findlay. He married Wendy Dymond and they were divorced. His fianc
