Laurel Canyon is a street that connects Los Angeles to the San Fernando Valley. Jane Bentley(Frances McDormand) is a record producer who lives with her young boyfriend, Ian (Allessandro Nivola) who is recording an album. Jane's conservative son, Sam (Christain Bale) and his fiance, Alex (Kate Beckingsale) decide to move to Los Angeles after they graduate from Harvard. Sam hates his mothers' lifestyle but his fiance is inticed into it. Chaos follows. Also stars Natascha McElhone, Lou Barlow, and Alexandra Carter. Directed by Lisa Cholodenko.

The true story of boxers Joe Louis (Leonard Roberts) and Max Schmeling (Til Schweiger) and their lasting friendship. It takes place during world war II and Max is from Germany. They have a couple of fights but the war has started and Hitler has his own ideas about Max fighting. Also stars Richard Roundtree, David Paymer, and Peta Wilson. Written by Jason Horwitch and directed by Steve James.

He encounters a Pulitzer prize winning author and soon finds himself in a strange relationship. Liked this one, also stars James Coburn, Olivia Williams, and Anjelica Huston. Directed by George Hickenlooper.

Subtittled. A newly ordained peist, Father Amaro (Gael Garcia Bernal) travels to Los Reyes to help Father Benito (Sanco Garcia) with his duties in the church. Once there, he meets Amelia (Ana Claudia Talancon) a beautiful 16 year old with whom he falls in love. He refuses to make their relationship public but uncovers a reltionship between Benito and a local drug lord. Father Amaro had a lot of turmoil in his life and does not deal with it very well. Written by Vicente Lenero and directed by Carlos Carrera.

They risk their lives to save their homeland from an army of renegade outlaws let by John King Fisher (Alfred Molina). A true western, lots of action but a little hard to follow. Also stars Rachael Leigh Cook, Ashton Kutcher, Robert Patrick, and Randy Travis. Written by Scott Busby and Martin Copeland, directed by Steve Miner.

Based on a true story, Robert P Hanssen (William Hurt) betrays his family, friends, and country by turning over secrets to the enemy for many, many years. Gets into his past and what shaped his life. A little hard to follow but interesting story. Also stars Peter Boyle, Mary-Louise Parker, David Strathairn, and Ron Silver. Written by Norman Mailer and directed by Lawrence Schiller.
