Mary Helen Frisch, 87, of 745 Columbus
Ave., Fostoria, died at 6:03 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 22, 2001,
at The Independence House, Fostoria.
Born July 7, 1913, in Calgary, Alberta,
Canada, to Charles and Catherine (Harrigan) Stock, she
married Denver L. Frisch on May 9, 1953, at St. Theresa
Catholic Church, Detroit. He died June 17, 1990.
Survivors include: a step-son, Larry Frisch
of Tampa, Fla; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren;
a brother, Patrick Stock of Bloomfield Hills, Mich.; and
a sister, Mrs. Herve (Theresa) DeJordy of Ottawa, Ontario,
Canada.
A brother, Gerald, is deceased.
She was a retired registered nurse, as
a private duty nurse, for Union Carbide and Fostoria City
Hospital; a member of Michigan State Nurses Association,
Ohio State Nurses Association, St. Wendelin Catholic Church,
its Rosary Altar Society and its Memorial Choir.
The Rosary will be recited at 10 a.m.
Monday in St. Wendelin Catholic Church with the Mass of
Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Daniel J.
Ring officiating. Interment will be in the St. Wendelin
Parish Cemetery.
Visitation is 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and 2-4
and 7-9 Sunday at the Hoening Funeral Home, Fostoria,
where a Christian Wake Service will be at 8:30 p.m. Sunday.

Fostorian's Mother
Beverly B. Guindon, 80, of Escanaba, Mich.,
died Friday, Feb. 23, 2001, at her the Fostoria home of
her daughter.
She was born Nov. 29, 1920, in Boyne City,
Mich., to Fred & Margie (Canute) Cook. On Nov. 9,
1946, in Escanaba, she married Hector J. Guindon. He died
Nov. 25, 1983.
She is survived by: four sons, Victor
Barish, Jr., of Las Vegas, Nev., Howard Guindon of Escanaba,
Phillip Guindon of Monroe, Mich., and Vern Guindon of
Dundee, Mich.; a daughter, Mrs. Timothy (Dee) Ash of Fostoria,
Ohio; 16 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and two
brothers, Jack & Jay Cook, both of Escanaba.
A brother, Bud Cook, and sisters Essie
Kisabeth, Artyth Dorgan and Helen Macki, are deceased.
Mrs. Guindon was a homemaker and member
of Eagles Ladies Auxiliary in Escanaba, Mich.
A memorial service, conducted by the Rev.
Stephen Hamilton Wright, is planned for 3 p.m., March
3, at the Garden of Rest Memorial Park in Wells, Mich.,
where the burial will take place. There is no visitation.

Betty A.
Betty A. Gillfillan, 77, formerly of
Northview Drive, Fostoria, died at 2:45 a.m. Tuesday,
March 6, 2001 at Fox Run Manor, Findlay.
She was born Sept. 17, 1923 in Rudolph
to Ray McKinley and Mary V. (Coldren) Laws. She married
Herb Gillfillan in 1979 in Jellico, Tenn., and he died
Nov. 7, 1989.
Surviving are a son, Irvin Laney, Seattle,
Wash.; three stepsons, Dennis and Rick Gillfillan, both
of Forest; Gary Gillfillan, Kenton; two daughters, Mrs.
Ronald (Helen) Thompson, Wooster; Mrs. Shane (Beverly)
Wagener, Perrysburg;; two stepdaughters, Marlene Gillfillan,
Grant; Mrs. Greg (Lisa) Ananice, Dunkirk; nine grandchildren;
eight step-grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by five grandchildren;
six brothers, Phillip, George, Frank, Albert, Charles
and David Tiell; and two sisters, Mary Ann Welly and Susann
Tiell.
Mrs. Reinhart was a homemaker and had
worked as a baker at Tiffin Mercy Hospital. She was a
member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Frenchtown, its
Rosary Altar Society, and New Riegel Senior Citizens.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated
at 10:30a.m. Friday at the church, the Rev. Conrad Sutter
officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 2-9p.m. Thursday
at Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, Carey, where a vigil
service will be held at 2 p.m.

Bernice Diebley Elsea, 90, died at 11:25
a.m. Wednesday, March 14, 2001, at her residence at 5629
CR 23, Fostoria.
She was born Aug. 12, 1910, in Fostoria,
to Charles and Florence (Cole) Myers. She first married
Harold J. Diebley on July 22, 1931. He died Feb. 21, 1966.
She later married Farrell F. Elsea on Jan. 27, 1974. He
died Nov. 6, 1998.
Survivors include: three sons, Joe and
William "Bill" Diebley, both of rural west Independence
and John Diebley of Helena; a daughter, Mrs. Dorla Walters
of Carey; a step-son and two step-daughters; 15 grand-
children and 23 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Helen
Agnew of Fostoria.
Mrs. Elsea, a homemaker, was a member
of West Independence United Methodist Church.
The Rev. Jeffrey A. Raker will be the
officiant at the 11 a.m. Saturday service in West Independence
United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Union Cemetery,
West Independence.
Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Friday in
the Coldren-Crates Funeral Home, Findlay, and one hour
prior to the service Saturday at the church.

Harold N. "Champ" Emerine, 95, of 111
S. Countyline St., Fostoria, died at 3:55 a.m. Tuesday,
March 20, at his daughter's home in Findlay.
He was born Nov. 7, 1905 in Alvada to
John W. and Theresa (Yost) Emerine. He married Mary Estelle
Higley on Oct. 15, 1940 at St. Wendelin Catholic Church,
Fostoria, and she died March 10, 2000.
Surviving are a son, John H. of Alvada;
three daughters, Mrs. James (Karen) Lutz, Chatfield; Mrs.
Cliff (Rosemary) Gardner, Findlay; Mrs. Darryl (Veronica)
Laughlin, Tiffin; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by eight brothers
and three sisters.
Mr. Emerine retired as a punch press operator
from Autolite, Toledo, after 28 years. He had also worked
at the tomato plant in Bloomdale for seven years, and
for Knights of Columbus, Fostoria.
He was a 1927 graduate of St. Wendelin
High School, Fostoria.
He was a member of St. Wendelin Catholic
Church and a 50-year honorary life member of K of C Council
1197, both of Fostoria. He was a member of Golden Eagles
of Fostoria Eagles Aerie 430.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated
at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the church. Burial will be in
the parish cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 7-9
p.m. Thursday at Hoening Funeral Home, Fostoria, where
a rosary service will be held at 8:30 p.m. The rosary

Ms. Gillig died at 9:15 p.m. Wednesday,
March 21, 2001 at her residence.
She was born Oct. 13, 1936 in Fostoria
to Clarence P. and Mary E. (Zirger) Gillig, and her mother
survives in Fostoria.
Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs.
Vernon (Helen C.) Durst, Burgoon; and Mrs. Roger (JoAnn)
Doe, Fostoria; and two brothers, Thomas E. and Michael
J. Gillig, both of Fostoria.
Ms. Gillig attended Mary Jane Kerrick
School, Fostoria. She was a member of St. Wendelin Catholic
Church, its Rosary Altar Society and Special Persons Encounter
Christ's Kingdom group.

Funeral services for Edna Belle Fernbaugh,
96, of rural Fostoria, will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday
at Hoening Funeral Home, Fostoria, the Rev. Gary Staats
officiating. Burial will be in Knollcrest Gardens, east
of Findlay.
Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m.
until services Tuesday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Fernbaugh died at 9:50 p.m. Friday,
March 23, 2001 at St. Catherine's Care Center, Fostoria.
She was born July 5, 1904 in Nina to Homer
and Agnes (Wilkins) Healey. She married Brant W. Fernbaugh
in 1932 in Toledo, and he died in 1966.
Surviving are two daughters, Kate Gwiner,
Fostoria; Mrs. Robert (Delores) Pearsall, Deshler; 12
grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren;
two step-great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild;
and two sisters, Erma Mizell, in Michigan; and Wilma Kreher,
in Arizona.
She was preceded in death by two sons,
John and Valdo; and a great-grandchild.
Mrs. Fernbaugh was a homemaker. She also
was a cook and kitchen worker at several area restaurants.

Mary I. Gerlinger, 94, of 130 W. Culbertson
St., Fostoria, died at 11:30 a.m. Friday, April 13, 2001,
at the Independence House, Fostoria.
She was born Nov. 9, 1906, in Somerset,
to David L. and Florence I (Chalfant) Rousculp. She married
Dr. Lawton C. Gerlinger on June 9, 1930 in Columbus. He
died Feb. 7, 1967.
Surviving are: a son, Dr. Lawton C. Gerlinger
Jr. of Dayton; a daughter, Mrs. David (Ann) Haney of Upper
Arlington; five grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death were: her
parents; three brothers, Alfred, Edward and Wayne Rousculp;
and two sisters, Wilda Koenig and Helen Ridenour.
Mrs. Gerlinger had been a secretary with
Radio City Music Hall in New York City and Ohio Bell Telephone
Co. in Columbus. A long-time member of Hope Lutheran Church,
Fostoria, she was a 1925 graduate of East High School
in Columbus and attended Capital University in Columbus
for two years.
She was a member of the Fostoria Woman's
Club, National Society of D.A.R., Fostoria Historical
Society and several genealogical societies. She was also
a volunteer for the American Red Cross and Fostoria Community
Hospital.
A celebration of life service will be
at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Hope Lutheran Church with the Rev.
Dr. Larry Knigga officiating. Burial will be in Fountain
Cemetery in Fostoria.
Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at
the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home, Fostoria.

KEITH L.
A memorial service for Keith L. Eddington,
53, of 104 Railroad St., Jenera, will be held at 2 p.m.

Mr. Eddington died early Saturday morning,
April 21, 2001 in Jenera due to injuries sustained in
a motorcycle accident.
He was born Dec. 15, 1947 in Bluffton
to William and Adeline (Filliater) Eddington. He married
Rebecca Gorman, and she preceded him in death. He later
married Laurie Tweed, and they divorced. He then married
Linda Michaels, and they divorced.
Surviving are three sons, Rodney Williams
and Jack and Keith Eddington Jr., all of Findlay; two
daughters, Mrs. Morris (Tamara "Tammy") Allen, Texas;
and Donna Eddington, Findlay; four stepsons, Brian Williams,
Indiana; Jeremiah Michaels, Fostoria; and Caleb and Logan
Michaels, both of Findlay; 11 grandchildren; six brothers,
Frank of Fostoria; Dick of New Riegel; David, Don and
Kenny, all of Findlay; and Robert of Arlington; and four
sisters, Ethel Decker, Mrs. Don (Norma) Riker and Kay
Stover, all of Findlay; and Sally Pugh, Dunkirk.
He was preceded in death by a brother,
Roger.
Mr. Eddington was unemployed.

Thomas Botch Fant, 82, of 241 Findlay
St., Fostoria, died at 12:01 a.m. Saturday, April 28,
2001, at St. Rita's Medical Center in Lima.
He was born on March 21, 1919, in Enoree,
S.C., to Jesse and Ella (McBeth) Fant. They are deceased.
Survivors include: three sisters, Mary
Louise Ferguson, Delia Shirley Fairley and Ida Mae Floyd
of Fostoria; an adopted sister, R. Marie Ferguson of Fostoria;
and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are: two brothers, Andrew and
J.W. Fant; and two sisters, Virginia E. Fant and Cleo
Margarite Tucker.
Mr. Fant was a laborer at Fostoria Foundry
for 35 years and retired in 1975. He was a member of UAW
Local 1246. As one of the original founding members (49
years) of Faith Chapel AME Church in Fostoria, he served
as deacon on the Board of Trustees, the treasurer's and
stewards board.
Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at the
Faith Chapel AME Church in Fostoria. The Revs. Archie
White and Thomas H. Fant will be officiating. Interment
will be in Fountain Cemetery in Fostoria.

1, 2001, in St. Catherine's Care Center in Fostoria.
She was born June 10, 1909, in McCutchenville,
to Joseph and Catherine (Altwies) Clouse. On Sept. 6,
1932, she married Norbert W. Finsel at Boniface Catholic
Church in New Riegel. He died in 1984.
Survivors include a son, Duane J. Finsel
of Fostoria; a daughter, Mrs. Bob (Dianne) Park of Fostoria;
10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Deceased include: a son, Don Finsel; two
sisters, Clarena Borer and Bertilla Elchert; and two grandchildren.
Mrs. Finsel was a homemaker, and had been
the Cafeteria Operator at Excello Corp., for many years.
She was a member of St. Wendelin Catholic
Church in Fostoria, and its Rosary-Altar Society; a Charter
member of the Fostoria Ladies Auxiliary of Knights of
Columbus Council 1197; a Golden Age Eagle of Fostoria
Eagles Aerie Auxiliary 430; 55 Plus Club; Catholic Knights
of Ohio Branch 52 in New Riegel; and a 1927 graduate of
New Riegel High School.

Linda L. Eidenour, 53, of 9903 W. Twp.
Rd. 36, Fostoria, died Tuesday, May 15, 2001, in Lexington,
Ky.
She was born Oct. 13, 1947, in Tiffin
to Lyle F. and Elizabeth (Barnes) King. On Dec. 10, 1981,
she married Rick L. Eidenour in Bettsville and he survives.
Other survivors include: her father of
Bettsville; two sons, Dustin Gerhardstein and Matthew
Eidenour of Fostoria; two daughters, Mrs. Denis (Renae)
McLaughlin of Tiffin, and Stephanie Eidenour of Fostoria;
three step-children, Chris and Jessica Eidenour of Fostoria,
and Kelly Eidenour of Perrysburg; seven grandchildren;
and two brothers, Jay D. King of Pennsylvania, and Michael
King of Green Springs.
Her mother and a brother, Larry L. King,
are deceased.
She was a graduate of Bettsville High
School and a retail merchandiser.
A private memorial service will be at
11 a.m. Saturday in the Engle Funeral Home of Bettsville.

Richard E. "Dick" Garrett, 90, of 725
Columbus Ave., Fostoria, died at 4:45 a.m. Friday, May
18, 2001 at Good Shepherd Home in Fostoria. He was born
Dec. 10, 1910 to Gurdon G. and Blanche P. (Rice) Garrett.
His wife of 65 years, Geraldine O. Ward, preceded him
in death.
Surviving include: two sons, Robert W.
Garrett of Uniontown, PA., and Douglas R. Garrett of Boca
Raton, Fla.; two step brothers, Garold Garrett of of Worthington,
and William Garrett of Bowling Green; four grandchildren;
and three great grandchildren.
Deceased are: two step-brothers, Wilmer
and Norman Garrett; and two sisters, Dorothy C. Elser
and Burnadette L. Antieau-Byrd.
Mr. Garrett retired in 1972 from Columbia
Gas System after 43 years of service holding management
positions in Bowling Green, Amherst and Fostoria. His
memberships included: United Methodist Church; Life member
Elks Lodge 818; Columbia Gas Quarter Century Club; Volunteer
Fire Department; and co-founder of Little league Baseball,
all of Bowling Green. He was a volunteer at DayBreak of
Fostoria Adult Day Care Center at Good Shepherd Home,
an avid sportsman, wood crafter and dealer/collector of
antiques.
The Chaplain James Sampson will officiate
the 10:30 a.m. Monday, funeral service at the Good Shepherd
Home Chapel in Fostoria. Burial will be Oak Grove Cemetery
in Bowling Green.

Funeral services for David A. Fruth, 56,
of Seymour, Ind., will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at

military honors will be conducted by joint veterans group

Mr. Fruth died Thursday, May 24, 2001
at Columbus (Ind.) Regional Hospital.
He was born Aug. 18, 1944 in Findlay to
Vincent and Evelyn (Peters) Fruth, and his father survives
in Fostoria. He married Carolyn Beck on Sept. 9, 1967
in Fostoria, and she survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, the
Rev. Michael (Jana) Weaver, Logan; Joy Fruth, Denver,
Colo.; and a sister, Mrs. John (Nikki) O'Dell, Fostoria.
Mr. Fruth retired in 2000 from Cummings
Engine Co., Seymour. He previously worked at Atlas Crankshaft,
Fostoria, from 1970-93, and was a farmer.
He served in the U.S. Army.
He was a member of First Church of the
Nazarene in Seymour, Ind., and its choir. He also taught
Sunday school and was a board member. He graduated in
1962 from Arcadia High School.

Laura S. Fuerstenau-Lambright, 48, of
405 E. Fremont St., died Wed., June 6, 2001, at Fostoria
Community Hospital.
She was born Oct. 3, 1952, in Milwaukee,
Wisc., to Otto C. and Mary E. (Black) Fuerstenau. Her
father is deceased, and her mother survives. On Feb. 12,
1985, in Fostoria, she married Bill G. Lambright, and
he survives.
Survivors also include: a daughter, Kristy
L. Lambright of Fostoria; a brother, Gerald C. Fuerstenau
of Fostoria; three sisters, Jeanne M. Fuerstenau, Mrs.
Michael (Belinda R.) Stahl, and Deanne B. Fuerstenau,
all of Fostoria; and a grandchild.
Deceased include: two brothers, Roy and
Delbert Fuerstenau, and a sister, Jeanette Fuerstenau.
Mrs. Lambright was a homemaker.

Dorothy Flechtner, 94, formerly of Fostoria,
died at 12:40 a.m. Friday, June 8, 2001, at Pebble Creek
Care Center, Akron.
She was born May 25, 1907, in Fremont
to Timothy C. and Mary (Haubert) Reardon. She married
August M. Flechtner on May 4, 1935, in Fremont, and he
died Aug. 11, 1975.
Survivors include three sons, Thomas W.
of Cleveland Heights; Richard O. of Carthage, N.Y.; and
Harry M. of Pittsburgh; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren;
and two sisters, Ruth Ottney, Gibsonburg; and Sister Mary
Gregory, Fremont.
Mrs. Flechtner was a homemaker.
She was a member of St. Wendelin Catholic
Church, Fostoria, and Catholic Ladies of Columbia.

Arthur Freeman, 67, of TR 1002, Amsden,
died at 1:05 a.m., Sunday, June 17, 2001, at his home.
He was born May 12, 1934, in Fount, Ky.,
to Theodore and Eva (Smith) Freeman. They are deceased.
On April 28, 1956, in Jellico, Tenn., he married Juanette
Nicholson and she survives in Amsden.
Survivors also include: three sons, Arthur
Freeman Jr. of Fostoria, Theodore Freeman of Amsden and
Steven Freeman of Risingsun; two daughters, Cindy Freeman
of Findlay and Mrs. Charles (Phyllis) Cavey of Fostoria;
three brothers, Steve Freeman of Hudson, James Freeman
of East Lake and William Freeman of Ravenna; a sister,
Lorene McMarlin of Ravenna; nine grandchildren; and two
great-grandchildren.
Two brothers, Ralph and Theodore Freeman,
and one great-grandchild are deceased.
Mr. Freeman retired in 1996 from Premier
Refractories (Basic) with more than 30 years of service.
He was a member of the Quarter Century Club.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday
at the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home in Fostoria. Burial

Drive, Fostoria, died Wednesday, June 20, 2001 at her
home. She was born March 23, 1934 to James and Vella (Broshers-Anderson)
Jackson. She married Paul L. Evers. He died on April 11,
1980.
Surviving include: a son, Paul Evers of
Conyers, GA.; a daughter, Mrs. Patricia A. Pullom of Findlay;
five brothers, Andrew Jackson of Toledo, Conley White
of of Norfolk, VA., James White, Gene Jackson, and Larry
White, all of Kalamazoo, Mich.; two sisters, Mrs. Dorothy
Fitch of Tiffin, and Anita White of Kalamazoo; six grandchildren
and two great grandchildren.
Deceased are: a daughter, Rose Ann Johnson;
and a brother, Billy Broshers.
Mrs. Evers was a member of the First Baptist
Church of Fostoria and its Mother's Board.
The Rev. T.A. Smith will officiate the
11 a.m. Saturday, funeral service at the First Baptist

Joan Flechtner-Etchen, 79, formerly of
Fostoria, died at 4:26 p.m. Saturday, June 23, 2001, at
Wyandot Manor in Upper Sandusky, where she resided.
She was born on Feb. 5, 1922, in Fostoria
to Conrad S. and Esther "Peg" (Pugh) Kuhlman and both
are deceased. On April 15, 1950, she married Norman R.
Flechtner and he died May 31, 1973. She married Don J.
Etchen and later divorced.
Survivors include: two daughters, Peg
K. Flechtner of Columbus and Mrs. David (Debbie B.) Conroy
of Aptos, Calif.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Flechtner-Etchen was a homemaker
and had been employed at The Review Times in Fostoria
as a proofreader for several year.
She graduated in 1940 from Fostoria High
School and in 1942 from the former Bliss Business College
in Columbus. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist
Church in Fostoria and a former member of VFW Auxiliary
421 and the Order of Eastern Star 94, both in Fostoria.
Services for Mrs. Flechtner-Etchen will
take place at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Mann-Hare Funeral
Home in Fostoria with the Rev. Rocky Morrison officiating.
Interment will be in Fountain Cemetery in Fostoria.
Visitation is noon-2 p.m. Wednesday prior
to services at the funeral home.

Ivan Albert Goshe, 63, of 915 Vincent
St. in Findlay, died Monday, June 25, 2001, at Blanchard
Valley Regional Health Center in Findlay.
He was born May 12, 1928, in McCutchenville,
to Edmund and Armina (Reinhart) Goshe, both are deceased.
On July 15, 1961, in Albuquerque, N.M., he married Patricia
McNeil, and she survives.
Survivors also include: four daughters,
Mrs. Michael (Sandra) Hampshire of Findlay, Mrs. Timothy
(Jeanne) Kimble of West Millgrove, Mrs. Brad (Barbara)
Dibble of Risingsun, and Margaret Strack of Findlay; 11
grandchildren,1 great-grandchild; three brothers, Donald
Goshe of Tiffin, Harold Goshe of Fostoria and Richard
Goshe of Arcadia; two sisters, Roseann Weyer of Sandusky
and Alma Hiller of Dola.
A brother, Gerald Goshe, is deceased.
Mr. Goshe was an assembler at Whirlpool
for nearly 38 years, and retired on May 31, 2001. He served
in the U. S. Air Force in 1960-62. He was a member of
St. Michael's Church in Findlay, and was a fundraiser
volunteer for West Millgrove Fire Department.
Services will take place at 4 p.m., Friday,
at Routson Funeral Chapel, 201 Osborn Ave. in Findlay.
Deacon Dorsey Hazelton will be the officiant.

Marion Ruth Edison, 90 , of West Ridge
Drive in Fostoria, died at 10:45 p.m. Saturday, June 30,
2001, in Independence House.
She was born July 25, 1910, in Grand Rapids,
Mich., to Byron C. and Helen Clark (Anderson) Kimes. On
July 10, 1933, in the East Congregational Church in Grand
Rapids. Mich., she married Richard M. Edison. He died
Sept. 27, 1992.
Survivors include: three daughters, Sarah
Knapp of Grand Rapids, Mich., Mrs. Lee R. (Judith) Forker
of Hingham, Mass., and Mrs. John (Ann) Walz of Naperville,
Ill.; six grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Edison graduated Grand Rapids Junior
College and George Washington University School of Art.
She was co-founder of Forum, a junior master bridge player,
a former member of the Chamber of Commerce and owner of
the Clothes Closet.
She delivered for Meals on Wheels and
was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church and Altar Guild.
A memorial service will take place at 1 p.m. Tuesday at
the Trinity Episcopal Church in Fostoria with the Rev.
John Trumble officiating. Interment will be in Green Lawn
Cemetery in Grand Rapids, Mich.

Mr. Garlick died late Sunday evening,
July 15, 2001 at his residence.
He was born Jan. 3, 1923 in Berkey to
Ira E. and Agnes Addie (Gibson) Garlick. He married Juanita
(Finerd) Preston on July 25, 1975 in Monroe, Mich., and
she died Dec. 18, 2000.
Surviving are two sons, Dennis of Fostoria;
and Allan of Perry; a daughter, Mrs. Mark (Kathleen) Faulhammer,
Perry; four stepdaughters, Mrs. Charles (Sue) Frizzell,
Pemberville; Debra Preston, Receda, Calif.; Mrs. David
(Barbara Preston) Rumschlag, Fostoria; and Mrs. Duane
(Cheryl) Flugga, Findlay; a stepson, Paul Richard Preston,
Clearwater, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren;
and two brothers, Kenneth of Swanton; and Larry of Berkey.
He was preceded in death by two daughters,
Martina Ball and Elaine Garlick; and a sister, Mary Anne
Garlick. Mr. Garlick was a retired machine repairman for
Autolite, Fostoria.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War
II, serving from 1943-46.
He was a member of Trilby United Methodist
Church, Trilby, Fla.; and Masons (Lyons and Fostoria chapters).

2001, at his residence.
He was born March 30, 1938, in Tiffin
to Clifford and Dorothy (Mohr) Flechtner. He is deceased
and she survives in Tiffin.
On Jan. 21, 1957, in Angola, Ind., he
married Marilynn Armstrong, and she survives.
Survivors also include: two sons, Gary
Guy Flechtner Jr. and Gregg Charles Flechtner, both of
Tiffin; three daughters, Gloria Lynn Focht of Tiffin,
Mrs. Ed (Geri) Theis of Fostoria, and Mrs. Dennis (Gwynn)
Wickert of Tiffin; and six grandchildren.
Mr. Flechtner graduated in 1956 from Tiffin
Columbian H. S. He was a stationary engineer at Tiffin
Developmental Center and retired. He was a member of First
Christian Church in Tiffin, the Seneca Radio Club and
Tiffin Columbian H.S. Tornado Athletic Boosters.
Services will take place at 1 p.m. Friday,
at Hannay-Traunero Funeral Home in Tiffin, with the Rev.
Jan Kucera officiating. Burial will be in Seneca Memory
Gardens in Tiffin.

James E. Grine, 62, of Fostoria, died
at 2:30 a.m. Sunday, July 22, 2001, in The Toledo Hospital.
He was born May 1, 1939, in Hancock County,
to Alvin and Esther E. (Fox) Grine Sr., and they are deceased.
On April 6, 1967 at St. Wendelin Catholic Church, he married
Nettie Banks and she survives.
Other survivors include: a son, Michael
D. Leal of Fostoria; four brothers, Vernon E. Grine, Vincent
E. Grine, and Paul L. Grine, all of Fostoria, and Harold
J. Grine of Albrightsville, Pa.; a sister, Ellen R. Greek
of Tiffin; and four grandchildren.
Two brothers, Alvin Jr. and Richard Grine;
five sisters, Margaret Grine, Helen Kauffman, Hilda Krupp,
Rita Calvert and Inez Miller; and a grandson are deceased.
Mr. Grine was a fork lift operator with
Atlas Inc. in Fostoria. He was a member of St. Wendelin
Catholic Church, Eagles Aerie 430, "Dads" of VFW Post
421 and United Sportsman Club, all of Fostoria, and Moose
Lodge 846 of Tiffin.
A mass of Christian burial will take place
at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Wendelin Catholic Church
in Fostoria. The rosary will be recited at 10 a.m. prior

William H. Graber, 51, Eagleville Road,
Fostoria, died at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, July 29, 2001, at
his residence.
He was born in Fostoria, Aug. 19, 1949,
to Willard and Evelyn (Lantz) Graber, and both are deceased.
He married Shirley A. Johnson April 19, 1969 in Fostoria
and she survives.
Survivors also include: a son, William
Graber of Cygnet; a daughter, Mrs. John (Christy) Chambers
of Fostoria; two sisters, Janet Graber of Fostoria and
Ellen Graber of Florida; and a grandson.
Mr. Graber retired in 1988 as a tool sharpener
at Atlas Crankshaft in Fostoria. He graduated in 1967
from Fostoria High School and attended the University
of Findlay. He was a member of West Millgrove Congregational
Church.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday
at the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home in Fostoria. The
Rev. Donald Goodwin will be the officiant. Burial will
take place in Fountain Cemetery.

N. Roller "Red" Fox, 82, of 2323 Mccutchenville
Rd., Fostoria, died at 3:38 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 2, 2001
at Fostoria Community Hospital. He was born in Arcadia
April 23, 1919 to Nicholas and Goldie (Roller) Fox. He
married Maxine Bloom (now Maxine Phelps) in 1940. They
later divorced and she survives in Fostoria. He then married
Arena B. "Renee" Speaker on Sept. 23, 1963. She died July
15, 1993.
Surviving include: a son, Gary N. Fox
of Tiffin; a stepson, Larry "Scott" Head of Fostoria;
a daughter, Mrs. Dian L. Brandt of Fostoria; a step-daughter,
Mrs. Sue A. Thompson of Fostoria; a sister, Mrs. Leola
Myers of Findlay; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren;
and five step-grandchildren.
Deceased include: a brother, Irvin Fox;
and a sister, Mrs. Wilma Lanker.
Mr. Fox graduated from Arcadia High School.
He was a boiler operator at St. Luke's Hospital in Maumee
for 13 years retiring in 1983. A member of Grace United
Church of Christ in Fostoria. He was an avid bowler and
fisherman.
The funeral services will be held at
10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Mann-Hare Funeral Home in Fostoria.
Burial will be at Knollcrest Gardens in Arcadia.

Michael "Mike" Eugene Frankart, 44, of
2477 N. SR 635, Tiffin, died at 11:49 p.m. Tuesday, Aug.
7, 2001, in the Intensive Care Unit at Blanchard Valley
Health Center in Findlay.
He was born March 21, 1957 in Fostoria
to Paul and Dorothy (Collet) Frankart and they survive
in Fostoria. He married Dorothy Brickner Nov. 28, 1981
at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Bascom and she survives.
Survivors also include: a son, Adam Frankart
and a daughter, Ashley Frankart, both at home in Tiffin;
two brothers, Kenneth and Joseph Frankart, both of Bascom,
and two sisters, Virginia Ekleberry and Irene Karhoff,
both of Findlay.
Mr. Ekleberry graduated from Hopewell-Loudon
H. S. in 1975 and attended Terra Community College for
one year. He worked for Ohio Farmers from 1975-1987, and
worked for Church and Dwight in Old Fort from 1987-2001
as a machine adjuster.
He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic
Church in Bascom, a volunteer with the Bascom Joint Fire
District since 1982, and helped with the summer softball
program in Bascom. His hobbies included, snowmobiling
and gardening.
Services will take place at 10:30 a.m.
Saturday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Bascom. Father
Arthur Niewiadomski will be the officiant. Burial will
be in the parish cemetery.

Eleanor B. Howe Funk, 85, of Custar, died
at 7 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2001, at her residence.
She was born March 26, 1916, in Dunbridge
to Harvey and Cynthia "Nettie" (Miller) Knettle. She married
Norman Howe on Dec. 29, 1945, and he died Dec. 27, 1959.
She then married Carl Funk on Aug. 18, 1962, in Hoytville,
and he died Sept. 15, 1976.
Surviving are two sons, David and Roger
Howe, both of Custar; a daughter, Cynthia Howe, Loudonville;
three stepdaughters, Mrs. Richard (Barbara) Buckingham,
Wayne; Mrs. Perry (Judy) Emmitt, Custar; Karen Smallwood,
McComb; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and
a brother, Ralph Knettle, Fostoria.
She was preceded in death by two brothers,
Frederick and Elmer Knettle; and a sister, Lula Kinker.
Mrs. Funk was a homemaker.
She was a member of Hoytville United Methodist
Church.

He was born March 27, 1950, in Fostoria,
to Carle and Sada Glenn (Nichols) Frederick and they are
deceased. He married Elizabeth Wahrer Feb. 26, 1977 in
Findlay, and she survives.

and Schaffen Frederick, and a daughter, Autumn Frederick,
all at home; and a brother, James Frederick of Port Clinton.
An infant brother also preceded him in
death.
Mr. Frederick served in the U. S. Army
and was employed at Intermetro in Fostoria. He was a member
of Grace United Church of Christ in Fostoria.

the United Veterans of Fostoria at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Fountain
Cemetery in Fostoria.

John Joseph Fiegelist, 84, of 19 Linwood
Rd., Tiffin, died Saturday, Aug. 25, 2001 at St. Francis
Home.
He was born Aug. 10, 1917, in Tiffin,
to Ervin J. and Verena (Niederkohr) Fiegelist and they
are deceased. He married Kathleen A. Teeple on Aug. 2,
1943 at St. Wendelin Catholic Church in Fostoria and she
survives.
Survivors also include: two sons, John
T. and Michael J. Fiegelist, both of Tiffin; a daughter,
Mrs. David (Mary Ann) Pahl of Tiffin; a brother, Wade
Fiegelist of Tiffin; six grandchildren and two great-grandsons.
A sister, Margaret Studer, preceded him
in death.
Mr. Fiegelist was a 1935 Calvert High
School graduate, a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church
and he retired as a machinist at National Machinery.
He was a member of the National Machinery
Quarter Century Club; Moose Lodge 846, Knights of Columbus;
and Seneca County Historical Society. He enjoyed gardening,
bird and squirrel feeding, Cleveland Indians and NASCAR.
He was an amateur Seneca County historian and had written
articles for the Advertiser-Tribune.
A mass will take place at 1 p.m. Tuesday
at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Reverends Richard Dunn
and Frank A. Murd officiating. The rosary will be recited
at 12:45 p.m. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Norman A. Finsel, 80, of 1928 Township
Road 243, Fostoria, died at 2:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 27,
2001, at Blanchard Valley Regional Health Center, Findlay.
He was born Aug. 20, 1921, in Hancock
County to Ralph A. and Helen B. (Hoffbauer) Finsel. He
married Elva I. Cripps on Oct. 1, 1979, at St. Wendelin
Catholic Church, Fostoria, and she survives.
Also surviving are a brother, Charles
of Findlay; four sisters, Mrs. Hubert (Mildred) Naderer,
Fostoria; Mrs. Herbert (Mary) Gabel, Fremont; Mrs. Edward
(Barbara) Zoltanski, Maumee; Mrs. Marvin (Catherine) Nofziger,
in Florida.
He was preceded in death by a sister,
Ursula Maciejewski.
Mr. Finsel was a Hancock County farmer.
He also operated a retail propane business, and was a
certified auto mechanic for more than 20 years.
He was a member of St. Wendelin Catholic
Church.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated

Dennie L. "Butch" Glover Sr., 59, of Fostoria
died at 8:40 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2001, at Medical
College of Ohio.
He was born July 1, 1942, in Fairmont,
W. Va. to Clarence and Anna (Kirk) Glover. He married
Ruby F. Mitchell on Sept. 7, 1962 in Fairmont, W. Va.
and she survives in Fostoria.
Survivors also include: two sons, Dennie
Glover, Jr. of Fostoria and James Glover of Tiffin; three
daughters, Denna Yoder of Fairmont, W. Va., Anna Johnson
of Bradner, and Genie Glover of Fostoria; four brothers,

Va., Eli Glover of Sommersville, W. Va., and Clarence
Glover, Jr. of Farmington, W. Va., a sister, Firginia

Mr. Glover retired in 1994 from Seneca
Wire in Fostoria after 25 years of service. He was a U.
S. Army veteran and a member of Dillon Road Baptist Church

in Fostoria, and he survives.

Essex Jr., Columbia, Tenn.; a daughter, Iva M. Krupp,
Fostoria; four grandchildren; two step-grandchildren;

Paula L. Hoffman, Bascom; Linda M. Slick and Delthia L.
Tyson, both of Fostoria; and Judy A. Kauffman, Alvada.
She was preceded in death by a stepfather,
Lester C. Stewart; and a sister, Peggy E. Fouts.
Mrs. Essex was a beautician, and owned
and operated Peggy's Beauty Salon in Fostoria for 30 years.
She also managed Hardees in Fostoria for three years and
worked five years at Hisan, Findlay.
She was a 1961 graduate of New Riegel
High School and a 1962 graduate of Ohio State School of
Cosmetology.
She was a member of Eagles Aerie 430,
Fostoria.

Virtie "Lois" Emahiser, 63, of Fostoria,

She was born Sept. 11, 1938, in McCeary

Dennis Emahiser of Bellevue, Rodrick Emahiser of Monroe
Falls, Jessie, Jeffrey, Tim and Tom Patrick all of Parkers
Lake, Ky., daughters, Marilyn Patrick and Carolyn Goodin
both of Pakers Lake, Ky., April Emahiser of Colorado Springs,
Colo., a brother, Charles Perry of Parkers Lake, Ky.,
,many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at
the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home in Fostoria with the
Rev. Donald Goodwin officiating. Burial will be in McCutchenville
Cemetery.
Visitation is one hour prior to services,
Tuesday, at Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home.

FRED H.
Fred Hartman Gassman, 82, of 21986 U.S.
224, Fostoria, died Monday morning, Oct. 15,2001, at The
Heritage, Findlay.
He was born Dec. 26, 1918, in Biglick
Township, Hancock County to Harold and Esther (Hartman)
Gassman. He married Bertha Helen Adelsperger on Jan. 27,
1940, and she died Jan. 30, 1998.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Floyd B.
(Judy) Rader, rural Fostoria; a son, Richard M. of Alvada;
five grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and three sisters,
Loma Wilson, Arlington; Mrs. Charles (Faye) Walters, Wharton;
and Mrs. Kenneth (Ellen) Russell, Walbridge.
He was preceded in death by a son, Gerald
Lynn.
Mr. Gassman was a retired farmer.
He was a graduate of Arcadia High School.
He was a member of West Independence United
Methodist Church, Hancock Farm Bureau, and Gold Star Fathers,
and was a former member of Arcadia school board and Biglick
Grange.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30
a.m. Thursday at the church, the Revs. Jeffrey A. Raker,
Lowell Reeder and Alan Sandford officiating. Burial will
be in Union Cemetery, Biglick Township.
Visitation will be held from 3-9 p.m.
Wednesday at Kirkpatrick-Behnke Funeral Home, Findlay,
and an hour before services Thursday at the church.

HAROLD A.
Harold A. Finsel, 87, of 54 Teakwood Drive
in Tiffin and formerly of Fostoria, died at 12:52 p.m.
Saturday, Oct. 27, 2001, in St. Vincent Mercy Medical
Center in Toledo.
He was born Feb. 23, 1914, in Hancock
County, Ohio to William and Hermina (Kinney) Finsel. They
are deceased. He married Louise Gilliland and she died.
He later married Helen (Schook) Weimerskirch and she died.
He then married Velma (Binger) Ferkel and she survives
in Tiffin.
Survivors also include: three sons, Larry
Finsel of Fostoria, David Finsel of N. Carolina and Dennis
Finsel of Fostoria; two daughters, Roselyn Kuhn of Oak
Harbor and Nancy Thompson of Fostoria; a stepson, Rick
Ferkel of Tiffin; a stepdaughter, Joanne Avers of Illinois;
16 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 9 step-grandchildren;
17 step-great-grandchildren; 2 step-great-great-grandchildren;
a brother, Wilbur Finsel of Fostoria; and a sister, Mrs.
Ed (Dorothy) Weinshank of Noblesville, Ind.
Preceding Mr. Finsel in death include:
three brothers, Norbert, Richard, and Delbert Finsel and
a sister, Agnes Rumschlag.
Mr. Finsel had been the Owner and Operator
of Finsel Sunoco, Finsel Motors, and H&L Supply, all in
Fostoria.
He was a member of St. Wendelin Catholic
Church in Fostoria and a 3rd Degree member of the Knights
of Columbus Council 1197 in Fostoria.
The Rosary will be prayed at 10 a.m. Wednesday
in St. Wendelin Catholic Church in Fostoria followed by
a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30a.m. Burial will be
in the parish cemetery.
Visitation is 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday
at Hoening Funeral Home in Fostoria. A Christian Wake
Service will take place at 8:30p.m.

Anthony E. "Tony" Earl, 38, of Carrie
Lane, Fostoria, died Thursday morning, Nov. 1, 2001, from
injuries suffered in a motorcycle accident on Manor Hill
Road in Findlay.
He was born Feb. 3, 1963, in Findlay to
Dean and Betsy (Swinehart) Earl, and they survive in Findlay.
He married Peggy S. Bullock, and they divorced.
Also surviving are a son, Tyler of Fostoria;
a daughter, Trisha Earl, Fostoria; four brothers, James
Conley, Warsaw, Ind.; John Benedict, Fostoria; Dennis
of Azores; and Jeff of Alvada; and five sisters, Kandy
Dunn, Gray, Tenn.; Arlene Nickless, Holt, Mich.; Darlene
Eherenman, Warsaw, Ind.; Deborah Earl-Smith, Eagle, Colo.;
and Cathy Earl, Findlay.
Mr. Earl was a machine operator at Roppe
Corp. and manager of Greens Apartment Complex, both in
Fostoria.
He was a 1982 graduate of Fostoria High
School.
A memorial service will be held at 2:30
p.m. Sunday at Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home, Fostoria.
Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. until
time of services Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials

Alan L. Folk, 56, of Fostoria, died at
9:05 p.m. Friday, Nov. 2, 2001, at his home.
He was born June 18, 1945, in Fostoria
to Ernest and Lillian (Reichert) Folk and they survive.
He married Leona J. Waldron. They later divorced.
Survivors include: a son, Steven A. Folk
of Fostoria; a daughter, Kristie L. Pohlman of Fostoria;
two sisters, Diana Geiger of Lima and Clara Folk of Fostoria
and a granddaughter.
Services will take place at 1 p.m. Wednesday
at the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home in Fostoria. Burial
will be in Knollcrest Cemetery near Arcadia.
Visitation is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday
at the funeral home.

PAUL A.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Paul A.
Frey, 73, of 13426 County Highway 95, Upper Sandusky,
will be celebrated at noon Wednesday at St. Mary Catholic
Church, Kirby, the Rev. James Holmer officiating. Burial
will be in the parish cemetery, with military rites by
local veterans organizations.
Visitation will be held from 1-4 and 7-9
p.m. Tuesday at Bringman-Clark & Co. Funeral Home, Upper
Sandusky, where a Biblical scripture service will be held
at 8:45 p.m.
Mr. Frey died at 7:35 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, 2001, at
Wyandot Manor Nursing Home, Upper Sandusky.
He was born Feb. 8, 1928, in Wyandot County
to Raymond G. and Arlys G. (Kentfield) Frey. He married
Jocele (Claridge) Spath in 1966, and she survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Andrea
M. Thiel and Sue Vent, both of Upper Sandusky; two sons,
Tracy P. and Anthony J. "Tony," both of Kirby; two stepsons,
Rodger L. Spath, Lima; Richard L. "Jake" Spath, Marion;
two stepdaughters, Rita L. Spath, Delaware; Rhonda L.
VanNess, Alexandrea; 12 grandchildren; a brother, Ronald
I. of Kirby; and five sisters, Mary Catherine Bouillon,
Fostoria; Mrs. Paul (Evelyn) Bouillon, New Riegel; Martha
Wagner, Carey; Mrs. Francis (Elizabeth) Reiter, Tiffin;
and Mrs. Mark (Edna) Davidson, Nevada.
Mr. Frey was a farmer. He also was a plumber
at Frey's Hardware in Kirby and Willie Frey Plumbing,
and had worked for Bernard Bouillon Construction in Fostoria.
In 1989, he retired from Farmers Commission Co., Upper
Sandusky.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran. He was a member
of St. Mary Catholic Church, and was a teamster at Wyandot
County corn husking competition.

A private graveside service for Lenwood
"Lenny" Freeman, 78, of Fostoria, will be held > Friday

He was born Aug. 23, 1923, in Front Royal,
Va. to Harry M. and Lula > (Robinson) Freeman.
Surviving are a daughter, Toine R. Clausi,
Findlay; and a grandchild.
He was preceded in death by a sister,
Marie Dutcher.
Mr. Freeman owned and operated Sohio Service
Station, at Countyline and Elm streets in Fostoria, for
50 years, until 1993. He also had owned and managed several
rental properties and had been an assistant zoning inspector
in Fostoria.
He graduated from Front Royal High School
in Virginia.

Gilbert H. Elchert, 83, of Fostoria, died
at 5 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, 2001,
at Good Shepherd Home in Fostoria where he resided the
last two years.
He was born Jan. 14, 1918, in Berwick, Ohio,
to Ralph and Eulalia (Altwies)
Elchert and both are deceased. He married Betty J. Davis
on June 17, 1944, in New Riegel and she survives in Fostoria.
Survivors also include: four daughters,
Carol Boos of Fostoria, Mrs. Allan
(Mary Jo) Baker- Beddows of England, Mrs. Keith (Jane
L.) Snyder of Findlay, and Rebecca A.
Shanks of Republic; 13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren;
a step-grandchild; a brother,
Cyril "Bud" Elchert of New Riegel; and three
sisters, Doris Clark of New Riegel, Wilma Renninger of
New Riegel and Virginia Brown of Carey.
He is preceded in death by: a great-grandchild,
Tahlor Dawn Snyder, and a sister, Rosemary Keating.
Mr. Elchert retired in 1982 as a millwright
at Allied Signal in Fostoria after 41 years of employment.
He was a 1936 graduate of New Riegel High
School. His memberships included:
St. Wendelin Catholic Church in Fostoria; a Third Degree
Honorary Life member of the
Fostoria Knights of Columbus Council 1197, he held the
Grand Knights office twice; and a former
member of American Legion Post 73.
He was a World War II Army Air Corp veteran
having served in the South Pacific.

Carolyn H. Evanesky, 67, 216 W. Jackson
St., Fostoria, died Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2001, at her residence.
She was born April 17, 1934, to the late
Carl and Opal Leora (Polen) Williams. She married John
Joseph Evanesky on Jan. 31, 1952, in Hagerstown, MD and
she survives.
Survivors also include: three daughters,
Mrs. Michael (Mary) Puffenberger and Mrs. Richard (Theresa)
Gwiner, both of Fostoria, and Mrs. William (Carolyn) Brauer
of Bemidji, MN, a foster brother, Clifford Bissett of
Morgantown, WV; and four grandchildren.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday
at St. Wendelin Catholic Church in Fostoria. Burial will
be in the parish cemetery.
