To all Athletic Directors

Please share this info w/ other AD's
If you know or if you have done business with Michael A. Cefaratti
III of
C.S.A.N. Visions Inc. or another name for the company is
Hometown Values
Fund Raising and Marketing Specialists, please contact me at
simmons_d@hccanet.org or 513-943-8209.

The company owes Glen Este a considerable amount of money
from a card fundraiser done with them in the Fall, but their phone
and business address is out of order. I know he has done
business with other schools in the area, and he encourages you to
go with his company b/c he uses college students to canvas the
area for sales. Be wary, let me know if you have info and I'll turn it
over to the proper authorities.

Botkins will have a VARSITY boys team this fall. After playing as club team the last 2 years, and playing the area JV teams during that time, the school board elected to sponsor a team for the 2005 fall season. The local club will again sponsor the JV team along with a JV girls team.

Botkins will be Div III team, and is located 20 miles south of Lima or 50 miles north of Dayton, right off I-75. This will be a junior dominated team. They were very competitive last year as sophomores, winning the Otsego/Bowling Green JV tourney along with a few varsity match ups during the season.

For varsity games, please contact Lavelle Smith, AD at smithl@botkins.k12.oh.us or phone 937-693-4241.

For JV games, please e-mail botkinssoccer@hotmail.com.

Please help us get this program going!

DON’T MISS THIS YEAR’S SPRING CONFERENCE

FINDLAY INN

HOT TOPICS FOR DISCUSSION

GREAT NEW IDEAS TO HELP EVERYONE

FANTASTIC GRAND PRIZE

Dear Northwest Ohio Athletic Director,

This year’s conference promises to be better than ever. We will again follow the two-day format, but as you requested, we will dismiss early. On Sunday, April 14, we will kick off the evening with a social hour and a delicious dinner buffet. Our keynote speaker will be Urban Meyer, the Bowling Green State University football coach. Special awards will be presented and dress will be casual for the evening. In addition, as many of you have requested, we are encouraging you to bring your wife/husband, significant other, or a friend to our Sunday evening festivities.

Topics that highlight Monday’s card include many new, innovative ideas we can all use. We were excited just planning the day. Of course, the Northwest District Board will be present to answer any of your questions. I have asked you to write down any questions you might have on the back of your registration form. You will also have the opportunity the day of the conference to write down questions. These will be compiled and given to the Board. The grand finale will again be a fantastic grand prize.

Our entire executive board hopes you will make every attempt to join other athletic administrators on both days. If you plan to stay at Findlay on Sunday night the Findlay Inn will accommodate you at a special rate of Queen $59.95 and Double $67.95. Phone (419) 422-5682 for reservations.

Finally, only NW-OIAAA members may attend the conference. I have noted on each application whether or not your 2001-2002 membership has been received. If you need to join for this year and also wish to attend the conference, simply include both on one check. Send all membership applications, and conference registrations to me. PLEASE NOTE MY ADDRESS ON REGISTRATION FORM.

I’m looking forward to seeing all of you on April 14, 2002.

Sincerely,

Mary Ruth Crandall

Message from the President

I hope your start to this school year has been a smooth one. I am sure those of you that are winning football games are doing fine. People want to complain that we put to much emphasis on athletics. Then why do we feel we have a better chance passing a levy if our football team is winning or most of the talk at the class re-union is about athletics during our high school days? How often do you discuss English class or Math class at your class re-union? Reality? Athletics are an important part of the high school. Many people just need to keep them in perspective.

As I returned home from the OIAAA State Conference, I was hoping that all of you that attended enjoyed the conference as much as I did. The conversations with fellow AD’s are invaluable. The presenters did a good job of giving us new information and new ideas. The info-mercial on College Recruiting was very good. I didn’t spend the $400.00 to purchase the program, however I received great information about recruiting. The round table discussions at the NWOIAAA hospitality hour was very productive also. It is nice to know that all of us face many of the same problems. Some of us deal with them differently, which gives us ideas how to make things better at our schools. Also, don’t forget to receive that 1.6 CEU’s for certificate renewal.

Our membership is growing. It is my job to make you feel like being a member of the NW-OIAAA is worthwhile. I am sure many of you see the benefits of the NW-OIAAA during the OIAAA State Conference. (at least those of you that were in attendance in the NW-OIAAA hospitality room.)

I am sure you are thinking that you can not afford the time away from your office to attend a conference. Just the opposite is true. Getting away can refresh you and get you motivated. Mental health days are a very important part of longevity in this business. The selection of these dates affords all Athletic Administrators the opportunity to attend before all the chaos hits us.

Good luck and keep swimming!

Yours in Athletics
