History

Brief History

Music is an integral part of Fostoria’s heritage. There has been a band representing Fostoria, taken from Fostoria and the surrounding area, for nearly seventy years. Fostoria has been the home of the nationally known VFW Band of the 1940’s and 50’s, the Federation Band, and most recently, The Community Band. Though the older bands have been long gone, the love of music has prevailed through in the creation of the Fostoria Community Band in the mid 1990’s. The band was formed under the direction of Dave Zoll, a former Fostoria Schools music instructor. The band has grown under several conductors and now is under the directorship of Jarrod Koskoski, instrumental music teacher at Toledo Christian Schools. The band performs several concerts throughout the year at various venues in and around Fostoria. Approximately 40 members participate in each concert. The Fostoria Community band practices on Thursday evenings from 7:00 to 9:00 PM in the Fostoria Middle School band room.
