Zachrich, William D.
BELMORE -- A memorial service for William D. Zachrich, 46, of
Belmore, will be held at 8 p.m. Thursday at Love Funeral Home,
Leipsic, the Rev. Tim Knepper officiating.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral
home.
Mr. Zachrich died at 5:48 p.m. Sunday, March 14, 2004 on County
Road 3, Leipsic, from injuries suffered in a train-pickup accident.
Surviving are his mother, Mildred Zachrich, Leipsic; five sons,
William of Fostoria; Kyle of Toledo; Garrett of Findlay, and Robbie
and Jason; two daughters, Stephanie Zachrich, Fostoria; and Theresa;
two brothers, John of Continental; and Tim of Belmore; and two
sisters, Louann Kuhbander, Cloverdale; and Mrs. Brady (Lisa) Seymour,
Columbus Grove.
Welch, Sydney Lynn
On March 17, 2004, surrounded by her family and loved ones, Sydney
Lynn Welch departed this life to be with the Lord.
Sydney passed away at The University of Michigan Mott Children's
Hospital from bone marrow transplant complications. She was diagnosed
with leukemia seven months ago but left this life cancer free.
Sydney Lynn Welch was born to Charles and Kelly Welch on April
21, 2003.
Sydney is survived by her parents, Charles and Kelly Welch; brother,
Justin; grandparents, Charles and Marjorie Welch of Toledo, Debra
and Steve Ward of Fostoria, OH, David and Denise Schultz of Fostoria,
OH; aunt, Debra (Richard) Hogan of Perrysburg, OH; aunt Katrina
Welch, and cousin, Anthony Vines II of Toledo; Aunt Rosalind and
cousin, Kevin Welch, of Toledo; uncle, Chad Howard and Brittany
of Toledo, OH; uncle, Brad Howard of Fostoria, OH; uncle, Joseph
(Heather) Cline and cousin, Kiley, of Fostoria, OH; uncle, Brian
(Sharla) Cline of Fostoria, OH, and many other relatives and friends.

Children's Hospital and Mott Children's Hospital for not only

Yentzer, Carol R.
Carol R. Yentzer, 71, of 704 Fishlock Ave., passed away at 11:43
a.m., April 16, 2004 at The Taylor House in Findlay.
She was born on December 23, 1932 to parents Lee and Velma (Smith)
Gibson and they preceded her in death. She married, Darl Kear,
whom she later divorced; she then married Dwight E. Yentzer in
1982 and he survives. Also surviving are two sons Jeffrey (Denise)
Kear of Sycamore, and Daniel (Jill) Kear of Findlay; one daughter
Ms. Lisa (Kear) Reynolds of Bucyrus, Ohio; one sister, Mrs. Dahl
(Gloria) Predmore of Findlay; two brothers, Donald and Tom Gibson,
both of Tiffin, Ohio; two step-sons, Dennis (Donna) Yentzer of
Belle Center and Charles (Donna) Yentzer of Fostoria; ten grandchildren,
two step-grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and one step great-grandchild.
Preceeding her in death are two brothers, Harold and Bill Gibson.
Mrs. Yentzer was involved in the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the
American Legion, and the Moose Lodge #698. Funeral services are
being handled by COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME and will be private.

Drew Eric Williamson, 19, of Ft. Wayne, Ind., died Sunday, May
2, 2004.
He was born Feb. 11, 1985, in Toledo, to Larry A. and Cynthia
J. (Hauser) Williamson. His parents survive in Ft. Wayne.
Other survivors include: two brothers, Jerad R. and Gabriel L.
Williamson, and fiancee, Jill Vanderweele, all of Ft. Wayne; paternal
grandmother, Lucille Williamson, and maternal grandparents, Robert
and Marilyn Hauser, all of Fostoria.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Mann-Hare Funeral
Home in Fostoria. Burial will be in Knollcrest Gardens near Arcadia.

Welly, Lucia Marie
JENERA -- Lucia Marie Welly, 82 of rural Jenera died Tuesday
(May 11, 2004) at 5:00 a.m. at the home of her son Brian and her
dedicated daughter-in-law and care giver Janet Welly.
Lucia had been in failing health for 5 years.
She was born September 2, 1921 in rural Van Buren Township, Hancock
County to Franklin and Lenora (Pifer) Grieser. She married Charles
F. Welly on August 5, 1952 and he survives.
Also surviving are a son and daughter-in-law Brian and Janet
Welly of rural Jenera, three daughters Beth M. and Rick L. Bracy,
Lima, Beatrice A. and Earl J. Streacker, Findlay and Bernice K.
Welly, Findlay. Sadly missed by nine grandchildren and step-grandchildren,
Sarah J. (Todd) Lucius, Fostoria; Stephen N. Welly, Columbus;
Matthew L. Bracy, Lima; Caitlin A.M. Streacker and Earl S.C. Streacker,
Findlay; Dan J. (Kelly) Settlage, Dunkirk; Kim Settlage, rural
Jenera and Austin G. and Jenna Lucia Marie Welly, rural Jenera.
Lucia was an avid reader, attended craft shows and enjoyed collecting
Fenton Glass pieces. Mostly 'Nana Welly' enjoyed watching her
grandchildren grow and participate in activities. Her loving presence
will be greatly missed. May you be wrapped in God's love as He
whispers "Come and rest."
Lucia was a lifelong member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran
Church, Jenera where she taught Sunday School. She attended Hull
School until 1935 when it closed and graduated Salutatorian in
1939 from Arlington High School where she received numerous scholastic
awards. In 1943 she graduated from Bluffton College with a Bachelor
of Arts with honors in Latin and majors in English and minor in
French and History, she also was elected to Pi Delta Society.
In 1982-83 she was given the Martha Holden-Jennings Scholar at
Arlington High School. Lucia belonged to the Hancock County Retired
Teachers Assoc. Lucia taught one year at Vanlue, eight years at
Carey and from 1968 to 1986 at Arlington High School when she
retired with 28 years of teaching.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Paul Evangelical
Lutheran Church with Dr. John Stroup and Rev. Thomas M. Frey officating,
burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be
2-8 p.m. Thursday at CRATES FUNERAL HOME, Arlington and one hour
prior to service at the church.

FOSTORIA -- Mary Ellen (Frisch) Woodward, 82, of Summit St.,
Fostoria, died at 8:05 a.m. Wednesday, May 26, 2004, at her residence.
She was born May 1, 1922, in Gibsonburg, Ohio to George and Nettie
(Kinker) Foster, and they preceded her in death. She first married
Vincent W. Frisch on Jan. 25, 1941 in Fostoria, and he died September
1962. She then married Irvin Woodward on Sept. 15, 1964 in Cheyenne,
Wyoming. He died March 25, 2001.
Surviving are a son, Christopher Frisch of Fostoria; four daughters,
Mrs. Franklin (Rosalind) Thompson, Mrs. Michael (Mary Lou) Luman,
Mrs. Michael (Dorothy Jane) Keiffer all of Fostoria, and Mrs.
Steve (Karen Marie) Weinke of Wausau, WI; three step-daughters,
Mary Louise Woodward of Quantico, VA., Barbara Thompson of Jerry
City, OH, and Susan Coffee of Floral City, FL.; a sister, Alice
Carpenter of Texas City, TX; two brothers, Norman and Donald Foster,
both of Texas City, TX; 16 grandchildren; 9 stepgrandchildren;
16 great-grandchildren; and 9 stepgreat-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Carlton and Raymond
Foster; a sister, Helen Foster; and 1 great-grandchild.
Mrs. Woodward was a homemaker and member of St. Wendelin Catholic
Church, Fostoria.

FOSTORIA -- Hazel E. Zickefoose, 83, of Fostoria, died at 6 a.m.
Wednesday, May 26, 2004, at Monterey Care Center in Grove City,
Ohio.
She was born June 4, 1920, in Elyria, Ohio to Calvin and Maude
(McGill) Robinson, and they preceded her in death. She married
Haldon J. Zickefoose Sept. 26, 1937 in Auburn, Indiana and he
died June 29, 1984.
Survivors include two sons, Rev. Edmond (Carolyn) Zickefoose
of Grove City, and Shannon (Sharon) Zickefoose of Fostoria; a
daughter, Mrs. William "Sheila" Madaras of Pemberville;
a sister, Donna Masowich of Lorain, Ohio; 10 grandchildren; 18
great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Clyde Robinson
and Francis Bowling; and five sisters, Jean Shaeffer, Crystal
Gunder, Dorothy Hall, Gail Rees and Mary Todarello.
Mrs. Zickefoose was a homemaker and member of Fostoria Family
Worship Center, Tiffin AMVETS and Fostoria Eagles Club.

Funeral Home, Fostoria, the Rev. Ralph Baker officiating. Burial

Williams, Hilda B.
Hilda Bernita (Semler) Williams, 78, passed away May 3, 2004
at her home in San Francisco, California with family by her side
following a courageous battle with Multiple Myeloma.
She was born January 27, 1926 in Delaware Twp., Hancock Co. to
the late Charles Henry and Helen Grace (Long) Semler.
She will be dearly missed by her husband of 47 years, George
Richard Williams; daughters, Ann (Kimio) Williams Nakazawa, Yokosuka,
Japan, Rosemary Williams, San Francisco, and Nancy Williams, Martinez,
CA; and son, Roger Williams, San Francisco. She was the proud
grandmother of her one and only grandchild, Casey Nakazawa Williams,
Yokosuka, Japan.
Other survivors include: brothers, Hallas (Ardeth) Semler, Arlington
and Clyde Semler, Jenera; sister, Carol Jean Fulks, Dunkirk; brothers
in law, Paul (Virginia) Williams, Fostoria, Walter Counterman,
Toledo, and Nelson Williams, Floral City, Fl.; and sister in law,
Martha Williams, Washington, D.C.
Two sisters in law, Mary Counterman and Alice Clawson Williams,
also preceded her in death.
Hilda graduated from Mt. Blanchard High School in 1944 and was
later employed by Ohio Bell telephone in Findlay. She played the
organ and taught piano at Mt. Zion Methodist Church where she
and George were married on September 15, 1956. They lived in Findlay
and then Toledo before moving their family to California in 1965.
In San Francisco, Hilda was an active and invaluable member of
numerous community organizations, spending many hours in volunteer
service. She was an avid fan of the Cleveland Indians and the
San Francisco Giants. Hilda was a kind, caring and an incredibly
patient lady, who will be deeply missed.
Family and friends are invited to a celebration of Hilda's life
at 4:00 P.M., Sunday, June 6, 2004 at Mt. Zion Methodist Church,
Arlington, Minister Bruce Lord officiating.

Yentzer, Donna J.
FOSTORIA - Donna J. Yentzer, 54, Fostoria, passed away at 2:15
p.m., Tuesday, June 1, 2004 at Independence House, Fostoria.
She was born November 5, 1949 in Columbus to the late William
F. and Forest R. (Harrison) Beck. She married Charles D. Yentzer
on December 11, 1976 in the First Presbyterian Church, Fostoria,
and he survives.
Also surviving is one brother, Malcolm F. (Yvonne) Beck of Fostoria;
two nephews, Daryl J. Beck of Fostoria and Joel Hale of Tiffin;
and one niece, Ronda O'Brien of Kansas City, Mo.
One sister, Barbara Lynn Hale, preceded her in death.
Mrs. Yentzer was a homemaker and worked for a short period at
Upfront Construction, Arcadia. She was a 1967 graduate of Fostoria
High School and a member of the Women of the Moose in Fostoria.
Mrs. Yentzer enjoyed sewing, reading, attending gun shows with
her husband and collecting antiques. She was an upbeat, friendly
person and a faithful and loving wife.
Friends may call the Mann-Hare Funeral Home on Friday from 2
to 4 and 6 to 7:30 p.m., where funeral services will begin at
7:30 p.m.
Committal services will be private.

The family of Clarissa Agnes Went, Fostoria, are saddened to
announce her passing at age 94, She died at 12:52 p.m. Monday,
July 12, 2004 at Fostoria Community Hospital.
She was born April 2, 1910 in Amsden to John R. and Gertrude
(Slemmer) Reed. They are deceased. She married Howard M. Went
on Aug. 25, 1935 in Fostoria and he died Feb. 1, 1974.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Mrs.
Blaine (Mildred) Hummel.
Mrs. Went retired from Ohio Bureau of Employment Services after
28 years of service. She was a lifelong and faithful member of
Hope Lutheran Church, Public Employee Retirees, Inc., AARP, Fostoria
Golden Girls, member and supporter of the Geary Family YMCA and
its arthritis aquatics shining star class. Clarissa enjoyed her
cat Patches.
Clarissa was a world traveler who appreciated nature and loved
gardening. She recently received the Home Beautification Award.
She was a 1928 graduate of Jackson High School, Amsden, and a
member of its 1927 All Star basketball team, and a Tiffin University
alumni.
Funeral services are 11 a.m. Thursday at the Hope Lutheran Church
where a spiritual celebration of Clarissa's life will take place.
The Rev. Dr. Larry Knigga will be officiating. She will be laid
to rest in Fountain Cemetery next to her husband, Howard, of 38
years. Following the cemetery committal services family and friends
are invited back to the Hope Lutheran Church for a lunch and gathering.
Visitation is 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hoening Funeral
Home and also Thursday morning at the church from 10 to 11 a.m.

Michele Lee Wiechman, 28, Perrysburg, passed away on Aug. 1,
2004 in an accident at Reynolds and Heatherdowns, Toledo.
She was born on July 1, 1976 in Wood County to Dennis R. and
Laura L. (Breneman) Wiechman.
She is survived by her father, Dennis Wiechman, Fostoria; her
mother, Laura Byers, Fostoria; one sister, Amy Craun, Bettsville;
one brother, Michael Wiechman, Findlay; paternal grandparents,
Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Wiechman, Findlay; maternal grandparents,
Mrs. Winnifred Messmer, Bowling Green; Paul and Audrey Breneman,
Port Charlotte, Fla.; three stepsisters, Randi Byers, Nikki Byers
and Allicia Lawrence, all of Fostoria.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Timothy.
Miss Wiechman worked as a marketing/sales representative for
Best-Aire Compressor Services, Perrysburg. She was a 1994 graduate
of Elmwood High School where she was a cheerleader for six years.
She graduated from Bowling Green State University in 1999.

Home, Wayne, with the Rev. David A. Bliss officiating. Burial
will be in Graham Cemetery, Wayne.

John F. Waltermire, 71, of Findlay, died at 12:10 p.m. Thursday,
Aug. 19, 2004 at The Heritage, Findlay.
He was born July 8, 1933 in Williamstown to Leo and Stella (Bame)
Waltermire. He married Rita J. Sams on Nov. 28, 1952 and she survives.
Surviving are a son, David R. (Leanne K.) Waltermire, Findlay;
a daughter, Jennifer A. (Tom) Capper of Springfield; two grandchildren,
Andy Capper and Jessica Capper; one brother, Elroy "Sonny"
Davis of Glenns Ferry, Idaho.
John was preceded in death by his parents and his stepfather,
Ray Davis.
Mr. Waltermire was a retired barber, having worked for many years
at The Plaza Clipper & Tan, Fostoria. He also operated the
former Davis and Waltermire Garage in Williamstown. John attended
St. Marks United Methodist Church, Findlay. He also attended Mt.
Blanchard and Arlington Schools.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday Aug. 23, 2004 at Coldren-Crates
Funeral Home, Findlay. Rev. Terry L. Pontius, officiating. Burial
will be in Knollcrest Cemetery, east of Findlay.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday at the
funeral home.

Velasquez, Hermelinda
Hermelinda Velasquez, 68, died on Aug. 22, 2004 in El Paso, Texas.
She was born Dec. 11, 1935 to Maria and Tiofilo Velasquez and
her mother survives in Juarez, Mexico.
She is also survived by children: Fransica Bacio, El Paso, Texas;
Maria De Refujio Manguera, Berta Alicia Garcia and Hector Velasquez,
all of Sacramento, Calif.; Oscar Velasquez, Daytona Beach, Fla.;
Olga Lydia Garcia and Martha Patricia Garcia, Juarez, Mexico;
one brother, Ramon Velasquez, Fostoria; and one sister, Petra
Velasquez, Guadalajara, Mexico.
She was buried in Sueneos Eternos Cemetery in Juarez, Mexico.
Williams, Ruth Ellen
Ruth Ellen Abell Williams, 57, Athens, Ala., died Saturday, Aug.
28, 2004 at her residence.
She was born to Arthur C. and Anna Louise Abell. Her mother survives
in Fostoria. She married Charles P. Williams and he survives.
She is also survived by two daughters, Jenny (Tim) Browning,
Athens, Ala.; Marcella (Eric) Jackson, Athens, Ala.; four granddaughters,
Breanna Browning, Emma Browning, Makayla Browning and Alyssa Jackson;
two sisters, Sherry Ebersole, Findlay; Cindy Valenti, Fostoria;
three brothers, Arthur Abell, Fostoria; John Abell, Toney, Ala.;
Mike Abell, Hunstville, Ala.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father and a son, Joseph Daniel
Williams.
Mrs. Williams was a member of Beacon Baptist Church, Rogersville,
Ala. She was a native of Fostoria.
Funeral services are 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Limestone Chapel
Funeral Home, Athens, Ala., with the Rev. William Bishop officiating.
Burial will be in Athens Memory Gardens.
Visitation is 1 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral
home.

Warren, James D.
James D. "Jim" Warren, 69, Arcadia died at 1:30 p.m.
Sept. 30, 2004 near Arcadia.
He was born on Sept. 2, 1935 to the late Harry Don and N. Maxine
(Wilcox) Warren. He married Marna J. Romick on Dec. 19, 1954 and
she survives near Arcadia.
Also surviving are three children: James A. (Lou Anne) Warren,
Alvada; Patricia A. (Al) Sanchez, Vanlue; Sandy A. (Arlene) Warren,
Findlay; grandchildren, Nikki Alford, Cori (Jon) Siferd, Staci
(Richard) Foor, Melanie, Eric and Chad Warren and Randi Bowser:
one great-grandchild, Sydney Foor; and his sister Lelia F. Horton,
rural Findlay.
He was a 1953 graduate of Arcadia High School and Tri-State College
of Engineering in 1956 with a degree in mechanical engineering.
Jim was employed by Autolite Spark Plug from 1956-60, and Cooper
Tire and Rubber Co. from 1960 until retirement in 1996 following
37 years with perfect attendance. He also farmed for nearly 50
years with a love and desire to improve the land.
Jim was a faithful member of the Arcadia United Methodist Church
where he lived out his faith and served as Sunday school teacher
and communion usher. Jim will be sadly missed by his loving family
and many friends.
Jim was a quiet philanthropist, supporting the Washington Township
Fire Department, Arcadia band and sports activities, and many
Masonic activities to name a few. Jim belonged to the Arcadia
Lion's Club, Lion's Civic Association, Findlay Elks BPOE #75 and
volunteer reader for the Arcadia Schools.
Jim's memberships also include: Findlay Masonic Lodge #227, Zenobia
Shrine, Past President of Findlay Shrine Club and secretary for
15 years, former Director Findlay Zenobia Clowns, Honorary Member
Zenobia's Legion of Honor, Tiffin Shrine Club, Fostoria Shrine
Club; Tiffin Hornets, presently President of the Hancock County
Scottish Rite, York Rite Bodies of Findlay, Ambassador to Tiffin
Shrine Club (1998-2001), Royal Order of Jesters Court #21, Tall
Cedars of Lebanon, and Valley of Toledo Scottish Rite.
Funeral services are 11 a.m. Oct. 4, 2004 at Arcadia United Methodist
Church with Rev. Michael Malcosky officiating. Burial will be
in Arcadia Cemetery.
Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday and 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at
COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, where a Masonic Service will be at
7 p.m. Saturday, also the casket will be taken to the church one
hour prior to the service.

Louise B. Wagner, 73, West Culbertson Street, died Tuesday, Oct.
5, 2004 at her home.
She was born Nov. 6, 1930 in Marion to Edward and Gladys (Rosier)
Zeigler. She married Marlowe F. Wagner on March 18, 1948 in Fostoria.
She is survived by one daughter, Tina Wilson, Fostoria; two sisters,
Marie Harrison, Flagstaff, Ariz.; Lenora Buckley, Pinconning,
Mich.; and one grandson, Jason Droll, Fostoria.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Darrin Wagner;
and two brothers, Ed and Jack Zeigler.
Mrs. Wagner retired from Gray Printing Co. where she worked in
negative assembly. She was a member of Grace United Church of
Christ.
Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Fountain Cemetery
Memorial Chapel with Pastor Don Giesmann officiating. Burial will
be in Fountain Cemetery.

Wagner, Marlowe F.
Marlowe F. Wagner, 85, West Culbertson Street, died Tuesday,
Oct. 5, 2004 at his home.
He was born June 25, 1919 in McCutchenville to Edward and Clara
(Trott) Wagner. He married Louise B. Zeigler on March 18, 1948
in Fostoria.
He is survived by one daughter, Tina Wilson, Fostoria; one brother,
James (Lee) Wagner, Brunswick; one sister, Joan Fleming, Fostoria;
and one grandson, Jason Droll.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Darrin Wagner;
one sister, Elita Mae Susor; and six brothers, Forrest, Delbert,
Charles, Burton, Junior and Kenneth Wagner.
Mr. Wagner retired from Gray Printing Company where he was a
pressman. He was a member of Grace United Church of Christ. He
was a World War II Army veteran.
Graveside services are 1 p.m. Tuesday at Fostoria Memorial Chapel
with Pastor Don Giesmann officiating. Burial will be in Fountain
Cemetery where the Joint Veterans of Fostoria will conduct military
honors.

Phyllis M. Walters, 80, Risingsun, died at 12:57 a.m. Wednesday,
Oct. 13, 2004 at Blanchard Valley Regional Health Center, Findlay.
She was born Nov. 1, 1923 in Risingsun to Oran and LuElla (DePointier)
Correll Sr. She married Milo M. Walters on Dec. 26, 1944 in New
Rochester and he survives.
She is survived by her husband, Milo M. Walters, Risingsun; two
sons, Michael Walters, Dayton; Tom (Jodi) Walters, Fostoria; two
daughters, Linda (Lynn) Bridinger, Tiffin; Kay (Mark) Konwiczka,
Risingsun; two brothers, Donald Correll, Fostoria; Oran Correll
Jr., Risingsun; two sisters, Betty Morel and Mary Mundwiler, both
of Risingsun; seven grandchildren, Michael, Matthew and Kimberly
Konwiczka, Toby and Courtney Bridinger and Brody and Beau Walters;
and one great-grandchild, Trinity Kay Konwiczka.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Lois Engle.
Mrs. Walters was a homemaker. She graduated from Risingsun High
School in 1941.

Funeral Home. Burial will be in Fountain Cemetery.

John E. Wade, 86, Olmsted Township, died Oct. 11, 2004.
He was born to Ora R. and Minnie (Miller) Wade on Sept. 8, 1918
in Fostoria. He is the beloved husband of Marie (nee Greenwood)
and she survives.
He is also survived by a son, David (Janet) Wade, Chesterfield,
Mo.; and two grandchildren, Haley and Michael Wade.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Patricia, and one sister,
Pauline Hartman.
Mr. Wade was an attorney working for Tops Supermarkets. He was
a Mason and member of the Shrine.
Graveside service is 2 p.m. Friday at the Lakewood Park Cemetery,
Rocky River.
Visitation is 3 to 6 p.m. Thursday at the Zeis-McGreevey Funeral

Ward, Vera Jean
Vera Jean Ward, 72, Fostoria, died at 11:25 a.m., Friday, Nov.
5, 2004 at St. Catherine's Care Center, Fostoria.
A native of Fostoria, she was born Aug. 4, 1932 to the late Henry
and Hazel (Leatherman) Kreais. She married Larry E. "Shorty"
Ward on Feb. 14, 1962 in Fostoria, and he survives.
Other survivors include: one son, Duane (Lisa) Ward, Mt. Cory;
three daughters, Cheryl (Frank) Hampshire, Chesnee, S.C.; Cathy
(Dennis) Stauffer, Findlay; and Sue (Jeff) Meyers, Key Largo,
Fla.; 11 grandchildren, Jason, Steven, Kevin, Mandy, Patrick,
Matt, Joshua, Robert, Nicole, Greg, and Noah; and three great-grandchildren,
Kaela, Mason, and Malayna.
One brother, Don Kreais, preceded her in death.
A 1950 graduate of Fostoria High School, Mrs. Ward was a homemaker.
She was a member of the First Christian Church, Fostoria, where
over the years she was involved as a greeter, deacon, choir and
women's club member.
Vera was past president and more than 50-year member of American
Legion Post 73 Auxiliary, Fostoria. For many years, she worked
with the board of elections and served with the Bureau of Concern,
where she was in charge of Christmas Baskets for several years.
Vera was also a member of the Sharing Kitchen in Fostoria and
the AARP and Refunding Club. Her hobbies included gardening, dancing,
and having good conversation. She also enjoyed riding motorcycles
and taking bus tours with her husband.
Friends will be received on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
in the Mann-Hare Funeral Home, Fostoria, where funeral services
will begin at 10:30 a.m., Monday, Nov. 8, 2004. The Rev. Mark
Harris will officiate. Burial will follow in Knollcrest Gardens,
Arcadia.

of Fostoria or the American Stroke Association.

Berton L. Walter, 83, Pioneer and formerly of Fostoria, died
at 1:14 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 13, 2004 at Manor Nursing Home, Montpelier.
He was born to John H. and Alice M. (Lynch) Walter.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy May, Pioneer; two daughters,
Patricia Bovia, Jacksonville, Fla.; Paula Frankart, Fostoria;
one son, James Walter, Fostoria; four stepdaughters, Carol Keesecker,
Camden, Mich.; Ann Lane, Pembroke, Maine; Janet Pertner, Rossford;
and Kay Oldham, Maumee; and two sisters, Hazel Braumbaugh, and
Marian Farr, both of Beliot, Kan.
Funeral services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Pioneer Methodist
Church with Pastor Mike Raypholtz officiating. Burial will be
in West Union Cemetery, Gibsonburg, with graveside committal service
with military rites at 2 p.m.
Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Thompson Funeral Home,
Pioneer.
