Richard "Dog" Peace, 44, of SR 613, Van Buren,
died at 5:30 p.m. Friday, April 11, 2003, in Van
Buren.
He was born Jan. 24, 1959, in Fostoria, to Jack
and Sally (Hoskins) Peace.
He first married Kay Lazza and they divorced.
He then married Marie Cain on July 20, 1996, in
Van Buren.
Surviving are: his wife, Marie Peace of Van Buren;
his mother, Sally Baker of Fostoria; two sons,
Richard and Andrew Peace, both of Carey; a step-daughter,
Leslie Billerman of Arlington; a brother, Donnie
R. Peace of Temple, Texas; two sisters, Sharon
Harris and Regina Scott, both of Fostoria; a grandson
and a step-grandson.
The funeral will be 12 a.m. Thursday at the Harrold-Floriana
Funeral Home in Fostoria. Burial will be in Maple
Grove Cemetery in Findlay.
Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Wednesday at the
funeral home.

Leonard Edwin
Leonard Edwin Phillips, 63, of 120 1/2 Makim
St., Bellevue, died while surrounded by his
family at his daughter's home, in Westerville,
Thursday, April 24, 2003, after a lengthy illness.
He was born Oct. 25, 1939, in Bellevue, to
the late Edwin and Corrine (Leis) Phillips.
On September 28, 1963 he married Judith Bogner
in the Immaculate Conception Church of Bellevue.
She preceded him in death June 11, 1995. Survivors
include: a son, Jeffrey (Patty) Phillips of
Clyde; a daughter, Lorey (Mrs. Chris) Coe of
Westerville; a sister, Alice (Mrs. Paul) Siesel
of Bellevue; mother-in-law, Agnes A. Bogner
of Bellevue; three brothers-in-law, Joe Reinhart
of Fostoria, Wade Fiegelist
of Tiffin, and Kenneth (Charlotte) Rospert of
Bellevue; 16 nieces and nephews; two grandchildren,
Alexa and Jude Coe of Westerville.
Preceding him in death were: two sisters, Anita
Reinhart and Marge Fiegelist; and father-in-law,
Vincent P. Bogner.
Mr. Phillips retired from the Sandusky Ford
Motor Company Plant in 1996, and was the owner
of the former Phillips Carpet and Furniture
store in Bellevue. He was an active member of
Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Bellevue
and a member of Knights of Columbus Council
752, Moose Lodge 238, American Legion Post 46,
V.F.W. Post 1238, Elks Lodge 1013, all in Bellevue,
and a member of numerous carpet and small business
associations. He loved camping and the outdoors,
traveling and spending time with his loving
grandchildren and family. He was also a breeder
of Shitzu dogs.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. today,
April 26, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic
Church, Bellevue with the Rev. John M. Nagle,
pastor of S.A.M. Cluster Parishes, officiating.
Burial will be in Bellevue Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation was Friday in the Foos & Son
Funeral Home, Bellevue.

Norman Charles Raney, 86, formerly of Fostoria,
died at 3:30 p.m. Friday, May 16, 2003, at Heartland
of Perrysburg.
He was born May 10, 1917, in Rudolph, to the
late John and Luella (Rickard) Raney.
Mr. Raney was a U.S. Army veteran of World
War II, serving from March 1941-October 1945,
including the Battle of Normandy.
Services will be 10:30 am. Tuesday at the Mann-Hare
Funeral Home in Fostoria. Burial will be in
Weaver Cemetery, Bloom Township, preceded by
military graveside rites by the United Veterans
of Fostoria.

Harold V. Pahl, 79, 510 St. Mary's Ave., Carey,
died at 7:50 p.m. Saturday, May 24, 2003, in
Wyandot County Nursing Home, Upper Sandusky.
He was born April 5, 1924, in Salem Township,
Wyandot County, to Firmen and Agnes (Wright)
Pahl. On Oct. 16, 1948, in Bascom at St. Patrick's
Catholic Church he married Imogene N. (Lauer)
Pahl. She survives.
Also surviving are: a son, Donald J. (Carol)
Pahl of Carey; four daughters, Diane (James)
Welly of Upper Sandusky; Teresa (Charles) Brodman
of Carey, Karen (David) Mates of Fostoria, and
Lisa J. Pahl of Columbus; 13 grandchildren and
one great-grandchild; and two brothers, Howard
Pahl of Carey and David Pahl of Upper Sandusky.
Preceding him in death were: his parents,;
a brother, Cleo "Sam" Pahl; and a
sister, Mildred Frankart.
Mr. Pahl was a lifelong Wyandot County farmer.
He attended Arcadia and Carey schools and St.
Michael's Catholic School in Findlay.
A horse enthusiast, he was a member of the
United States Trotters Association, Wyandot
County Farm Bureau, and a former member of Moose
Lodge 1093 in Upper Sandusky.

Purkey, Gregg
GAUTIER, Miss. -- Gregg A. Purkey, 42, formerly
of Bloomdale, Ohio, died May 22, 2003 in Gautier,
Mississippi.
He was born Sept. 26, 1960 in Findlay, Ohio
to Robert and Barbara Purkey, and they survive
in Cleveland, TN. He married Beth Fox in 1980,
and they were divorced. He then married Amber
Sunde in 1997, and she survives.
Also surviving are: one son, Ryan and one daughter,
Kristen, both of Fostoria; two step sons, Wesley
and Scott Vestal, Jonesville, NC; and a granddaughter,
Nicole, Fostoria; two brothers, Mike (Jan) of
Lima, OH, and Shawn (Tammy), Clyde, OH; and
three sisters, Robin Bassett, Virginia Beach,
VA, Kelley Garlick, Cleveland, TN, and Heather
(Dan) Wells, Fairfield, OH.
Gregg graduated from Elmwood High School. He
was a decorated veteran of the United States
Navy, retiring in 1998. He had been employed
with Mississippi Power and Light, Gautier, MS.
Full military services with burial in the National
Cemetery, Biloxi, MS were held on May 28, 2003.
A memorial service will be held for family and
friends at 1:30 P.M., Saturday, June 7, 2003
at Mann-Hare Funeral Home, Fostoria, with the
Revs. Lee Gill and Edmond Zickefoose officiating.

FOSTORIA -- Janis M. Radcliff, 80, of Fostoria
died Friday morning, June 13, 2003, at her residence.
She was born July 27, 1922, in Risingsun to
Edmund and Agnes (Korta) Lehmann. She married
Dale S. Radcliff Jan. 27, 1943, in St. Mary's
Catholic Church, Millersville, and he survives
in Fostoria.
Other survivors include: four sons, Roger D.
Radcliff and Ron G. Radcliff of Fostoria, Mike
E. Radcliff and Gary L. Radcliff of Bloomdale;
six grandchildren; five step-grandchildren;
five great-grandchildren; and a brother, James
Lehmann of Florida.

St. Wendelin Catholic Church with the Mass of
Christian Burial following at 10:30 a.m. Burial

Andrew Reinhart, 110, of Eaglewood Care Center
will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Our
Lady of Consolation Church, Carey. Burial will
be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Carey.
Visitation will be held from 2-5 and 6-9 p.m.
at the Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, Carey.

Mr. Reinhart died at 5:20 p.m. Saturday, June
14, 2003. He was the second oldest man in the
United States.
Born July 28, 1892 to Thomas and Anna (Arend)
Reinhart, he married the late Esther E. Brooks
on February 25, 1919.
Surviving are four sons, Harold of Barrington,
Ill.; Donald and Franklin, both of Carey; Bernard
of Tucson, Ariz.; three daughters, Mrs. James
(Mary Lou) Gohl, Fort Wayne, Ind.; Mrs. Eugene
(Rita) Newell, Galion; Mrs. Dwight (Virginia)
Orians, Carey; 36 grandchildren; 54 great-grandchildren
and four great-great grandchildren.
Mr. Reinhart, retired, was a farmer and operated
a seed corn business. He was a member of the
Basilica of Our Lady of Consolation, a Charter
member of the Knights of Columbus, was on the
board of directors of the Wyandot County Farm
Bureau, and the Carey Locker Plant.

Charles William Reinhart, 50, of 53 Lisa Ann
Drive, Fremont, died at 3:45 a.m. Monday, June
16, 2003, at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center
in Toledo.
He was born May 11, 1953, in Tiffin, to Walter
J. and Oleta M. (Tiel) Reinhart. His mother
survives in Tiffin. Also surviving are: two
brothers, Andrew (Julie) Reinhart and Allen
(Suzanne) Reinhart, both of Tiffin; a sister,
Sharon (Todd) Walter of Columbus; four nieces,
Ashley Reinhart and Melissa Reinhart, both of
Tiffin; Amanda Walter and Emily Walter, both
of Columbus; and three nephews, Gregory Reinhart
of Tiffin, Shane Walter and Nicholas Walter,
both of Columbus. Preceding him in death were:
his father; and a sister, Donna M. Colvin.
Mr. Reinhart was a 1971 graduate of Columbian
High School. He worked at Fostoria Foods from
1972-1982 and then at Atlas Industries from
1983 to the present.
He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church.
He was also a member of the Sons of the American
Legion Squadron 354, in New Riegel.
Mr. Reinhart enjoyed boating, watching drag
racing and spending time at Riverfront Marina.
A funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday,
June 19, 2003, at St. Mary Catholic Church in
Tiffin with the Rev. Stephen Schroeder officiating.
Burial will be in Seneca Memory Gardens.

Tiffin, with a wake service at 8:30 p.m. The

Marion "Ruth" Piatt, 96, formerly
of Shoals, Ind., died at 5:40 p.m. Thursday,
June 26, 2003, at Martin County Health and Rehabilitation
Center in Loogootee, Ind.
She was born Jan. 1907, in Shoals, Ind., to
the late William and Emma (Westhafer) Dustin.
On March 7, 1936, in Crawfordsville, Ind., she
married Horace P. Piatt. He died in October
2000.
Surviving are: a daughter, Brenda Baker of
Tiffin; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Born January 7, 1952 in Fostoria to Cecil and
Betty (Wittebort) Rader, he married Carla Harp
on June 2, 1979 at St. Paul United Methodist
Church and she survives.
Also surviving are a son, Adam of Findlay;
and a sister Carol Rader, Findlay.
Mr. Rader worked for Fulton Elementary School
as a teacher of learning disabilities and was
involved in the TAPESTRIES program for the last
three years. He was an usher and member of College
1st Church of God. His pride and joy was watching
his son play hockey. He thoroughly enjoyed football,
researching the Civil War and its history, and
family genealogy.

Charles Richard "Charlie" Reed, age
80 of Canton, formerly of Vermilion and Lorain
died Monday September 1, 2003 at the Canton
Regency Retirement Community.
He was born on February 25, 1923 in New Orleans,
Louisiana. He grew up in Fostoria, Ohio and
had lived in vermilion since the early 1970's.
He also lived in Lorain, Mansfield and Fremont.
He was a graduate of Fostoria High School Class
of 1941. He was a veteran of the United States
Navy having served during World War ll in the
Naval Aviation PBY 7th Patrol. Following his
military service, he was a deep sea sponge diver
in Tarpon Springs, Florida.
He was a licensed insurance and real estate
agent and had worked for the National Life Insurance
Company, first as an agent, later promoted to
District Manager.. He was a member of the National
Association of Life Underwriters, serving on
its Ethics Committee, and also the National
Association of Realtors. He also founded Town
Village Insurance Company in Lorain and worked
for Harbourtown Reality and Lehman Johnson Reality
Company, which he retired from.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church
in Vermilion and taught the Adult Bible Study
Class. He was also a member of the American
Legion Post 397 in Vermilion, the Vermilion
Athletic Booster Cub, the Vermilion YMCA and
Ritter Public Library.
Survivors include a daughter, Jan Greenfelder
of Canton< OH. one step-grandson, Jason Greenfelder,
brothers Rolfe Babb of Fostoria and Ralph Babb
of Fort Wayne, IN., sisters, Betty Ickes, of
Thornsville, OH: and Joan Filliator, of Fostoria.
He was proceeded in death by his wife, Bettie
June Reed, a son Craig Reed, parents, Guy Wilbert
reed and Lillie Fern (nee Sturgess) Redd-Babb
and brothers, Gene Reed and Hank Babb.

September 3, 2003 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2003 at her
residence.
She was born Nov. 10, 1948 in Tucson, Ariz.
to Nathaneil and Jacqueline Pond. Her father
is deceased. She married Ray Reinhart on July
30, 1985, and he survives
Surviving are her mother, Jacqueline Pond,
in Pennsylvania; her husband, Ray Reinhart,
Fostoria; two sons, Kenneth Falk, Fostoria;
and Geoffrey Crist, Elkhart, Ind.; a brother,
Ron Pond, Phoenix; and a sister, Patricia Kostrzewa,
Melbourne, Fla. and six grandchildren.
Mrs. Reinhart was a head nurse, RN, CNN, BSN
with Dialysis Partners of Northwest Ohio Toledo.
She graduated from Owens Technical School and
Toledo University, where she was a member of
the Sigma Theta Tau Sorority. She was also 1st
lieutenant in the U.S. Army Reserves, serving
in the 256th Mash Unit for 8 years.

Caudill and they were divorced. He then married
Darlene Palmerton on Nov. 12, 1971 and she survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Paula McLaughlin,
Carey; and Jami (PV2 Brian) McCumber, Fostoria;
two sons, James (Fran) Jr. of Thomasville, Ga.;
and Jeffrey of Carey; two stepsons, Tim Palmerton,
McComb; and Tom Palmerton, Hudson, Fla.; three
sisters, Nancy (Jim) Martin, Upper Sandusky;
Pat (George) Lasley, Findlay; and Marlene Quail,
Carey; a brother, Bobby (Barb) of McCutchenville;
seven grandchildren, David, Chelsie, Jessica,
Jamie, Kaysie, Kodi and Kyle; and a great-granddaughter,
Madison.
Preceding him in death are a brother, Charles;
and a granddaughter, Billie Jo McLaughlin.
Mr. Plott retired after 30 years from Seneca

Parker, 74, died Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2003 in
Beverly Hills, Fla.
He was born May 18, 1929 to Ferris H. and Hulda
L (Flowers) Parker Sr. He married Mary Jane
Parker on May 28, 1950 and she survives in Beverly
Hills, Fla.
Also surviving are a son, Kenneth L. (Day)
of Palm Bay, Fla.; a daughter, Mrs. Dan (Lauren)
Patrick, Beverly Hills, Fla.; three brothers,
Ferris H. Jr. in Indiana; Robert in Arizona;
and Harry of Winter Park, Fla.; two sisters,
Rosella Parker-Grilliot, in Kansas; and Mary
Fern, Portage; five grandchildren and a great
grandson.
Mr. Parker retired in 1991 after 21 years as
a Maintenance Electrician with the former Allied
Signal Company, Fostoria.
He was a resident of Bloomdale for over 45
years, was a member of the United Methodist
Church of Bloomdale and a member of Knights
of Pythius, Bloomdale. He was a past volunteer
fireman, cub scout leader, community volunteer
and served as Mayor of Bloomdale in the late
50s and early 60s, initiating the new Village
Hall/Fire Hall during his tenure. He loved singing,
played the guitar and mandolin, and had a special
love for Country Gospel and Country Bluegrass
music. He was a former member of Wood Country
Amateur Radio Club, Bowling Green, and the Findlay
Amateur Radio Club, and his call letters were
W8IJR.
Funeral services and burial will be private.

Ruth
FOSTORIA -- Funeral services for Ruth Riggle,
89, of Cory Street, Fostoria, will be held at
11 a.m. Monday at Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home,
Fostoria, the Rev. Lynn J. Huffman officiating.
Burial will be in Knollcrest Gardens, east of
Findlay.
Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.
Sunday at the funeral home where an Eastern
Star Memorial Service will be conducted at 6
p.m.
Mrs. Riggle died at 5:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov.
27, 2003 at Doctor's Hospital, Columbus.
She was born Dec. 5, 1913 in Ada to Mark and
Margaret (Eckenrode) Ramsey. She married Chalmer
Riggle on Dec. 24, 1937 and he died March 1,
1988.
Surviving are a daughter, Margaret "Peg"
Collins, Columbus; a son, Robert (Sue) Riggle
of Alexandria, Va.; four grandchildren, Melanie
Hall, Robert Riggle Jr., and Catherine and Jennifer
Collins; and four great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Riggle was a homemaker.
She was a 1932 graduate of Ada High School,
studied music at Ohio Northern University and
was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church,
Fostoria. Ruth will be remembered for her work
in the church choir through the years. She participated
in many community choirs and provided music
for the Fostoria Christian Science Church. She
was a member of Kings Daughters and United Methodist
Women. She was a volunteer for many years at
the American Red Cross and assisted residents
at the Good Shepherd Nursing Home. She was also
a member of the Fostoria Woman's Club and Fostoria
Chapter 94 Order of the Eastern Star.

FOSTORIA -- Cleo G. Pierce, 92, of Whitehall,
and formerly of East Fremont Street in Fostoria,
died Wednesday morning, Dec. 3, 2003, at Manor
at Whitehall, in Whitehall.
Survivors include a son, James of Fostoria;
two daughters, Mrs. Norman (Jeannine) Might,
Powell; and Mrs. John (Jenna) Ash, Galloway;
and a sister, Mrs. Donna Pierce, Fostoria.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday
at Mann-Hare Funeral Home, Fostoria. Committal
services and burial will follow in Knollcrest
Gardens, near Arcadia.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Saturday at the funeral home.

Elnora S.
Elnora S. Rayle, 88, formerly of N. Vine Street,
Fostoria, died at 5:08 a.m., Wednesday, December
17, 2003 at Independence House, Fostoria, where
she was a resident.
She was born December 22, 1914 in Pandora,
Ohio to the late Albert and Sarah (Hilty) Burry.
She married Harold R. Rayle on January 21, 1941
in Pandora, Ohio, and he preceded her in death
December 21, 1995.
Survivors include: three sons, H. Robert (Erma)
Rayle, Taylors, SC, Russell W. (Cheryl) Rayle,
Toledo, and Kenneth E. (Cathryn) Rayle, Lakeville,
MA, seven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren,
and three sisters, Elvina (Ray) Burkholder,
Pandora, Lucille (Victor) Bucher, Columbus Grove,
and Agnes (Joe) Pepple, Waynesfield.
Two brothers, Benjamin and Vilas Burry and
two sisters, Melvina Neuenschwander and Margaret
Basinger also preceded her in death.
Mrs. Rayle was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening.
She was also employed as a cashier at the former
White Front Market, Fostoria. She was a graduate
of Pandora-Gilboa Schools, and was a member
of Wesley United Methodist Church, Fostoria.
Mrs. Rayle was also a member of Order of Eastern
Star, Fostoria and Dendarah Court, Toledo.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00
p.m., Saturday, December 20, 2003 at Wesley
United Methodist Church, Fostoria, with Pastor
Lynn J. Huffman officiating. Burial will be
in Fountain Cemetery, Fostoria. The family will
receive friends on Friday from 2 to 4 and 6
to 8 p.m. in the Mann-Hare Funeral Home, Fostoria,
where OES memorial services will be held at
7:00 p.m.

Rasp, 69, of Walnut Street, Fostoria, will be

Mrs. Rasp died Wednesday evening, Dec. 17,
2003 at Fostoria Community Hospital.
Surviving are two sons, Michael L. of Fostoria;
and John W. of Bowling Green; three daughters,
Mrs. Tim (Susan) Peck, Fremont; Mrs. Matthew
(Patricia) Van Wagner, Wayne; and Marla J. Nye,
Fostoria; and a sister, Shirley Stahl, Clyde.

FOSTORIA -- Norman G. Piper, 90, formerly of
1437 N. Union St., Fostoria, died Monday morning,
Dec. 29, 2003 at Independence House, Fostoria.
He was born Sept. 23, 1913, in Fostoria, to
the late James W. and Ruth M. (Padgam) Piper.
He married Garland A. Hunker on Sept. 4, 1937,
in Fostoria. She died July 16, 1988.
Surviving are four sons, Gary A. of Sandusky;
Lanny L. of Raleigh, N.C.; Michael D. of Iowa
City, Iowa; and William R. of Fostoria; and
a sister, Winifred Morris, Tiffin.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m.
Saturday at Mann-Hare Funeral Home, Fostoria,
the Rev. Larry W. Knigga officiating. Burial
will be in Fountain Cemetery, Fostoria.
Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.
Friday at the funeral home.
