Porter, Doris, M.
Fostorians Mother

Doris M. Porter, 82, formerly of 60 N. SR 101 Lot 77, died at 1:45 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2001, in the Autumnwood Care Center.

She was born Nov. 15, 1918, in Toledo, to Charles and Mary (Adams) Finch. On March 9, 1940, in Bowling Green, she married Floyd Thomas Porter. He died Jan. 28, 1997.

Surviving are three sons, Thomas A. Porter of Toledo, Paul F. Porter of Tiffin and David L. Porter of Fostoria; two sisters, Mrs. Ernest (Katherine) Bobel of Gallipolis and Mrs. James (Helen) Beam of Tiffin; nine grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

Two brothers also are deceased.

Mrs. Porter, a graduate of Bowling Green High School, had been employed as a secretary at Union Carbide in Fostoria for 11 years.

She was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, its Trinity Twosomes and Mother's Circle.

A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Trinity United Church of Christ, with the Rev. William Smith officiating. Interment will be in Sandridge Cemetery, Bascom.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church. The Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the Building Fund at Trinity United Church of Christ.


Rosenfelt, Jack W.
National Carbide retiree

Jack W. Rosenfelt, 69, 35 St. Francis Ave., died at 11:20 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2001, in St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, Toledo.

He was born Dec. 21, 1931, in Scipio Township, Seneca County, to the late Frank and Elizabeth (Beatty) Rosenfelt. He had never married.

Survivors include: a brother Frank Rosenfelt Jr. of Tiffin; and two sisters, Mrs. Dale (Shirley Ann) Barsness of Simsbury, Conn. and Mrs. Terry (Mary Elizabeth) Smith of Buckeye, Ariz.

A sister, Helen Marie Rosenfelt, died in infancy.

Mr. Rosenfelt, a veteran of the Korean Conflict, retired from the National Electrical Carbon in Fostoria, where he had worked 1956-86.

He spent his life serving Veterans Organizations including member and as an officer of the following:

AmVets, where he served as post sergeant-at-arms, 1999-2000, as post senior vice commander 1996-97 and post junior vice commander 1995-96.

American Legion where he served in the following: county commander 1998-99, county first vice commander 1997-98, post first vice commander 1997-98, county 2nd vice commander 1996-97, post 2nd vice commander 1996-97, post commander 1993-94, post 2nd vice commander 1992-93, county commander 1987-88, county first vice commander 1986-87, county 2nd vice commander 1985-86, post commander 1984-85, post 2nd vice commander 1983-85 and post sergeant-at-arms and honor guards 1954-56.

Ranker, Robert L.
Retired Webster employee

Robert L. Ranker, 79, died at 6 p.m. Monday, Jan. 15, 2001, at his home at 7 W. Market St.

He was born March 31, 1921, in Tiffin, to Raymond C. and Florence (Frary) Ranker. His wife, Phyllis M. (Powell) Ranker, whom he married Oct. 17, 1942, in St. Mary Church, Tiffin, survives.

Other survivors include: a son, Ronald L. Ranker of Tiffin; a daughter, Mrs. Gary (Patricia A.) Bishop of Bucyrus; two brothers, Raymond Ranker Jr. of Bloomville and Mervin Ranker of rural Tiffin; three sisters, Mrs. James (Mildred) Comer and Mrs. Eugene (Phyllis) Kauffman, both of Tiffin, and Mrs. Wilbur (Jean) Elchert of Fostoria; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Also preceding him in death were a son, Robert L. Ranker Jr., and two sisters.

Mr. Ranker, a veteran of the Civil Conservation Corps and the Navy, retired in 1986 as a welder from Webster Mfg., after 30 years of employment. He also mowed fairways at the Mohawk Golf Course.

He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Moose Lodge 846, Eagles 402 and the Bloomville American Legion.

A funeral Mass will be at 12:30 p.m. Thursday in St. Mary Catholic Church, with the Rev. Keith Stripe as celebrant. The rosary will be recited at the church at 12:15 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Visitation is 5-8 p.m. today in the Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home, where Moose Lodge services will be at 7 and a wake service at 8.

Memorials may be made to Community Hospice Care or a charity of the donor's choice.


Pohlman, Steven A.

Word has been received of the death of Steven Allen Pohlman, 53, Flushing, Mich., and formerly of Fostoria. He died Jan. 5, 2001 at Hurley Medical Center, Michigan.

He was born Feb. 5, 1947 in Fostoria to Leroy William and Sandra Lou (Seitz) Pohlman. He married Dorothy A. Schrass July 2, 1971 and they later divorced. He later married Aimee Marie Luea April 29, 1983 in Flushing, Mich. and she survives.

Also surviving are four sons, Ted, Ben, Sam, and Philip; a daughter, Sally; his father and stepmother, North Carolina; a brother, Mark Pohlman, Florida; three sisters, Sherry VanWagoner, Chris Ann Jacobs, and Jill Harner, all of Georgia; a stepbrother, Jeff Light; two stepsisters, Renee and Laura Light; an uncle, Ben J. Pohlman, Fostoria; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother; a brother-in-law, Phyleetus VanWagoner; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ben F. Pohlman and Mr. Clarence Gilbert “Cook” Seitz; and in-laws, Mr. and Mrs. Nick E. Luea.

Mr. Pohlman was retired from Hurley Medical Center where he worked as a nurse.

Funeral service was Jan. 9, 2001 at St. Robert Catholic Church, Father Nicholas Ritter officiating. Burial was in the parish cemetery. Arrangements were made by Rossell Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Powers Catholic Educational Fund.


Phelps, Robert Edmund
Retired trucking owner/operator

Robert Edmund Phelps, 85, 233 Elm Ave., died at 3:12 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 27, 2001, in the Independence House, Hancock County, Fostoria.

He was born Nov. 28, 1915, in Toledo, to Grover Cleveland and Edna Matilda (Eben) Phelps. On Dec. 11, 1943, in Tiffin, he married Goldie Shirley Tusing, who preceded him in death March 29, 1991.

Surviving are three sons, Alvin Roy Phelps of Anna, Larry Robert Phelps of Tiffin and Gary Edward Phelps of Fostoria; five grandchildren, a step grand-child and two great-grandchildren; two brothers, John Paul and Louis Wayne Phelps, both of Tiffin; and a sister, Mrs. Gerald (Ruth) Hoepf, also of Tiffin.

Two brothers, Roy Dillon and Herbert Phelps, are also deceased.

Mr. Phelps, a retired trucking owner/operator, had lived in Tiffin for 55 years.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Turner-Engle Funeral Home, with the Rev. Virgil Cole officiating. Interment will be in Fairmont Cemetery.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Bridge Hospice of Findlay or a charity of the donor's choice.


 

Reynolds, Jerlene M. (Westenbarger) 
Formerly From Fostoria

Word has been received of the death of Jerlene M. (Westenbarger) Reynolds, 61, Norman, Okla., and formerly of Fostoria. She was born Feb. 23, 1939 in Fostoria.
 
She is survived by her mother, Doris Reidling, Fostoria; a son, Lance Hargis, Austin, Texas; a brother, Rick Westenbarger, Fostoria; and two grandchildren.
 
Reynolds was professor emeritus of interior design in the College of Architecture at the University of Oklahoma, Norman, Okla. She served as a faculty member for 28 years and was serving as director of interior design when she retired in 1995.
 
She was a 1958 graduate of Fostoria High School. She served in the Marine Corps in communications from 1958-60.
 
She received a bachelor’s degree in interior design from the University of Oklahoma in 1965 and a master’s degree in city and regional planning from The Ohio State University in 1971.
 
She also studied graphics at the University of Arizona, video and drafting at the Rhode Island School of Design in Providence. She also studied at Harvard University in 1968 and 1969.
 

During her tenure at O.U., Reynolds completed research and did design work in various locations across the country.

Retired Fostoria Secretary
 
Madonna L. "Donna" Roberts, 81, of 800 Woodward Ave., Fostoria, died at 5:10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 2, 2001, at her home.
 
She was born July 23, 1919, in Fostoria to Fred R. and Fayette (Ferwalt) Howard. She married Kenneth P. Roberts June 14, 1941, in St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria. He died March 15, 1981.
 
Survivors include: a son, Ronald H. of Sycamore; three daughters, Mrs. Richard (Judy) Corner of Findlay, Mrs. Thomas (Jane) Schetter of Fostoria and Mrs. Robert (Rebecca) Secor of Stockton, Calif.; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Henry "Hank" Howard of Fremont; and two sisters, Patricia Wolfarth of Tuscon, Ariz., and Margaret Bruce of Columbus.
 
Also deceased are a brother, Alex Howard; and two sisters, Mary Kintz and Beatrice Ruehle.
 
She was a 1937 St. Wendelin High School graduate; a former secretary at St. Wendelin High School, Ahlenius Company, Dr. Gerlinger and Star Glass and Supply Company, all of Fostoria; member of St. Wendelin Catholic Church; and a volunteer tutor at Lowell Elementary School, Fostoria.
 
The rosary will be recited in the St. Wendelin Catholic Church at 10 a.m. followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Monday with burial in St. Wendelin Parish Cemetery.
 
Visitation will be one hour prior to the Rosary at the Hoening Funeral Home, Fostoria.

Platt, Jacquelyn

Funeral services for Jacquelyn Platt, 32, of Largo, Fla., and formerly of Fostoria, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Smith-Crates Funeral Home, North Baltimore, the Rev. Paul Eichar officiating. Burial will be in Weaver Cemetery, Bloom Township, Wood County.

Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Platt died of natural causes early Sunday morning, Feb. 18, 2001, at her sister's residence in Phenix City, Ala.

She was born Feb. 24, 1968 in Bowling Green to Jack and Patricia (McKee) Garno. Her father and stepmother, Brenda Garno, and her mother and stepfather, Paul Huff, all survive in Bowling Green. She married Jason House, and they divorced. She then married Johnny Platt, and they divorced.

Also surviving are two sons, David Garno, Fostoria; and Jonathan House, Bettsville; five daughters, Ashley House, Tiffin; Jesica and Erica Platt, both of St. Petersburg, Fla.; and Danille and Emily DePersis, both of New York; and a sister, Rita Tyson Ahern, Phenix City, Ala.

Mrs. Platt was a homemaker.

Romer, Lawrence F.

Lawrence F. Romer, 83, of Glandorf, died at 5:50 p.m. Wednesday, March 7, 2001, at Calvary Manor Nursing Home, Glandorf.

He was born Dec. 1, 1917, in Glandorf to Frank and Katherine (Meyer) Romer. He married Dorothy Siebeneck on Oct. 3, 1953, and she died Nov. 6, 1967. He married Lucille Miller in 1979, and she died in 1992.

Survivors include three sons, Thomas and Charles, both of Ottawa; and Richard of Cloverdale; a daughter, Linda Llewellyn, Glandorf; two sstepsons, Jack Miller and Charles Miller, both of Fostoria; two stepdaughters, Marilyn Hauser, Fostoria; and Mary Lou Reinhart, New Reigel; and three grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a stepson, Tom Miller; and three sisters, Bertha Ruhe, Helen Unverferth and Julitta Rampe.

Mr. Romer retired in 1984 from Louisiana-Pacific, Ottawa.

He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Glandorf, and was a member of the Ottawa American Legion and VFW.

He was a U.S. Army WWII veteran.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, the Rev. Harold Brown officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery, with military rites to be conducted by the Ottawa American Legion and VFW.

Visitation will be held from 7-9 p.m. today and from 1-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Friday at Love Funeral Home, Ottawa, where a VFW service will be held at 7 p.m. and a parish rosary service will be recited at 8 p.m., both on Friday.

Memorials may be made to Putnam County Home Health.


RICKARD, RICHARD B.

Richard B. Rickard, 68, of 114 Findlay St., Fostoria, died at 1 a.m. Thursday, March 8, 2001 at Blanchard Valley Regional Health Center, Findlay.

He was born Dec. 15, 1932 in Rudolph to Ben and Helen Alberta (Kiger) Rickard. He married Deloris Gollihue on Jan. 31, 1965 in North Baltimore, and she survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Steve Rickard, Downingtown, Pa.; and Richard Worth, Coatesville, Pa.; two daughters, Sheila Kammeyer and Renee Worth, both of Fostoria; 11 grandchildren; and a sister, Dorothy Cotterman, Cygnet.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Norman; and two sisters, Lorraine Van Scoder and Patricia Krassow.

Mr. Rickard was a maintenance and cleaning worker at UAW and Days Inn, Fostoria.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Mann-Hare Funeral Home, Fostoria, the Rev. Donald Goodwin officiating.

Visitation will be held two hours before services Saturday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Blanchard Valley Regional Health Center, 145 W. Wallace St., Findlay.


PERSE, EVELYN M.

Evelyn M. Perse, 79, formerly of Fostoria, died Sunday, March 11, 2001, at her residence in Marblehead.

She was born May 24, 1921, in Bellevue, to Andrew and Marie (Schaefer) Frankart. She first married Albert O. "Butch" Burrow and he preceded her in death. She later married Wilbur J. Perse, and he also is deceased.

Survivors include: three daughters, Mrs. Charles (Diane) Brandt of Fostoria, Mrs. Richard (Kathy) Gower of Tiffin and Anne Beasley of Marblehead; a stepson, William Perse of Ft. Wayne, Ind.; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Gene (Janet) Gottfried of Ft. Wayne; a sister, Marion Flicker of Bellevue; 14 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

A daughter, Marlene Fraley; a brother, Earl Frankart; a sister, Catherine Krause; and six grandchildren, are deceased.

Mrs. Perse, a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Danbury, enjoyed crafts.

Services will be at noon Wednesday in the Neidecker-LeVeck and Crosser Funeral Home, Peninsula Chapel, Lakeside-Marblehead. Burial will be in St. Paul Lutheran Church Cemetery at a later date.

Visitation is 6-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

ROBBINS, DONALD R.

Funeral services for Donald R. Robbins, 71, of 12495 Tank Farm Road, Cygnet, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Smith-Crates Funeral Home, North Baltimore. Burial will be in Weaver Cemetery, Bloom Township, Wood County.

Visitation will be held from noon to 4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Friday, and from 10 a.m. until time of services Saturday at the funeral home.

Mr. Robbins died at 11:09 p.m. Tuesday, March 20, 2001 at Wood County Hospital, Bowling Green.

He was born Dec. 27, 1929 in Kentucky to Orville and Grace. He married Nancy Zack on Dec. 9, 1956, and she survives.

Survivors also include four daughters, Nancy Jo Wright, Carey; Mrs. Larry (Donna R.) Ressler, Fostoria; Mrs. Tom (Peggy L.) Hoffsis, Bowling Green; Mrs. Barry (Carla "Cake") Hillabrand, Risingsun; two sons, Gust "Dobbs" Dobbins, Galion; Randy Dobbins, Atlanta, Ga.; 15 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, William Robbins, in Wisconsin; a sister, Sarah Peggy Thayer, in Kentucky; and a half sister, Camilla Aldrich, in Ohio.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Zena.

Mr. Robbins was a fork lift operator at Findlay Industries, and previously had worked for Pioneer Packing and Palmer Bros. Concrete.

He was a member of Eagles Aerie 2633, North Baltimore, and UNITE Local 981, Findlay.

He raised pheasants and emus, had been a Golden Gloves boxer, and had trained elephants and horses for circuses.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.


RICHARDS, DONNA J.

Donna J. Richards, 72, of 109 Maple St., Risingsun, died at 9:40 p.m., Friday, April 20, 2001, at her residence.

She was born June 23, 1928, in Fostoria, to Burl and Ruth (Bullock) Sprow. They preceded her in death. On Aug. 2, 1946, in Fostoria, she married Garrett "Jack" Richards. He died Jan. 10, 1973.

Survivors include: a son, Michael G. Richards of Risingsun; two daughters, Linda "Sue" Smith of Fostoria, and Pamela K. Reinbolt of Barrington, R.I., a brother, Frederick Sprow of Okinawa, a sister, Mrs. Jack (Julie) Butler of Fostoria, a companion, Harold "Pee Wee" Calmes of Carey; six grandchildren and 10 grat-grandchildren.

Deceased also include: a step-father, Lee Betzer; a brother, Richard Sprow; a sister, Sally Sprow; and a grandson, Gary Reinbolt.

Mrs. Richards was a kindergarten aide at Lakota Schools and a laborer for 34 years with Airfoil Textron (formerly Excello) in Fostoria, retiring in 1989. She was a member of First Church of God in Risingsun, the Eagles Auxiliary 430, VFW Auxiliary 421, and the UAW Local 1246, all in Fostoria.

Services will take place 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the First Church of God in Risingsun with the Rev. Paul Rutledge officiating. Interment will be in the Fountain Cemetery in Fostoria.

Visitation is 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday at the Mann-Hare Funeral Home in Fostoria, and one hour prior to the service at the church.

RAMIREZ, FRANCES N.

Frances N. Ramirez, 89, of 612 Stinchcomb Drive, Fostoria, died at 2:40 a.m. Saturday, April 21, 2001, in St. Catherine's Care Center in Fostoria.

She was born Oct. 4, 1911, in Mexico, to Francisco and Justa (Arellano) Navarro. On April 14, 1928, in Monroe, Mich., she married Henry O. Ramirez. He died Feb. 8, 1981.

Survivors include: a son, Robert Tom Ramirez of Toledo; three daughters, Theresa Ramirez of Florida, Mrs. Art (Lupe) Costilla of Fostoria, and Mrs. William (Irene) Moyer of North Baltimore; 29 grandchildren; 92 great-grandchildren; and 29 great-great grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were: her parents; two sons, Henry Jr. and Frank Ramirez; four brothers, Ramon, Vicente, Rafael, and the Rev. Ramon R. Navarro; and a sister, Guadalupe Torres.

Mrs. Ramirez was employed at Fostoria Packing House, Fostoria Country Club, Bishops Dry Cleaning, and Mr. B's Dry Cleaners in Fostoria.

She was a member of St. Wendelin Catholic Church in Fostoria, and a former member of Fostoria Eagles Aerie 430.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the St. Wendelin Catholic Church in Fostoria, with the Rosary to be recited at 10 a.m., prior to the service. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Visitation is 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the Hoening Funeral Home, Fostoria, with a Christian Wake service at 8:30 p.m.

Memorials may be made to Hospice Care of Seneca County or in the form of Mass Intentions to St. Wendelin's Church.


PEYTON, LETITIA N.

Letitia N. Peyton, 94, of St. Catherine's Care Center in Fostoria, died at 3:15 p.m., Friday, April 20, 2001, at the center.

She was born Sept. 21, 1906, in Huron, Ohio, to Price and Jessie (Jamison) Cherry. On April 27, 1925, in Sandusky, she married Harry G. Peyton. He died June 5, 1976.

Survivors include: two sons, Robert Peyton of Fostoria, and James Peyton of New Mexico; a daughter, Mrs. William (Norma) Jones of Lake Wales, Fla., 14 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

Preceding her in death also include: a son, George Peyton; two brothers, Donald and Hal Cherry; and sisters, Ruth Conley and Marietta Ludwig.

Mrs. Peyton, a member of the Grace United Church of Christ in Fostoria, was a homemaker and knitted sweaters for the Red Cross during WWI and WWII.

Services will take place at 11 a.m., Tuesday, at the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home in Fostoria and will be officiated by Lawrence Lynch. Burial will be in Fountain Cemetery.

Visitation is 6-8 p.m., Monday, and one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Grace United Church of Christ in Fostoria.


RINEBOLD, MARJORY L.

Marjory L. Rinebold, 75, of Westhaven Drive, Fostoria, died at 1:11 a.m. Saturday, May 26, 2001, at Independence House in Fostoria.

She was born May 11, 1926, in Wyandot County, to Clyde and Mildred (Riedel) Hufford, and they are deceased. On Sept. 1, 1948, in Covington, Ky., she married Gordon H. Rinebold. He died Oct. 12, 1980.

Survivors include: two sons, Michael Rinebold of Austin, Texas, and Monte Rinebold of Fostoria; a sister, Dorothy Risner of Fostoria; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Rinebold was a homemaker and 1944 graduate of Fostoria High School as well as a life member of Fostoria Chapter NAACP.

Her body was donated to science.

POWELL, MARGARET E.

Margaret E. Powell, 84, of 728 Oaklawn Ave., died Monday, May 28, 2001, at her residence.

She was born Nov. 19, 1916, in Fostoria, to Ross and Dama (Shrider) Kooken. On May 18, 1941, in Fostoria, she married Dean Willis Powell. He died March 27, 1994.

Survivors include: two daughters, Gay A. Powell and Susan E. Powell, both of Fostoria; and two sisters, Marilyn Kooken of Tiffin, and Marian Kreiss of Bryan.

A son, Danny Powell, also is deceased.

Mrs. Powell graduated from Fostoria High School, was a homemaker, and had been employed at the former Feisel's Grocery in Fostoria. She was a member of The Church of the Brethren in Fostoria.

Services will take place at 11 a.m., Thursday, at the Mann-Hare Funeral Home in Fostoria, and will be officiated by the Rev. Sterling Beasley. Interment will be in Fountain Cemetery.

Visitation is 10-11 a.m., Thursday, prior to services, at the funeral home.

PRENZLIN, ROBERT E.

Robert E. Prenzlin, 75, of North Union Street, Fostoria, died at 5 a.m. Thursday, May 31, 2000 at St. Catherine's Care Center, Fostoria.

He was born Feb. 11, 1926 in Kansas to John and Clara (Shultz) Prenzlin. He married Greta M. House on Sept. 9, 1950 in Angola, Ind., and she survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Steve Prenzlin and Dallas "Joe" Prater Jr., both of Fostoria; a daughter, Mrs. Ralph (Dorothy) Davidson, Upper Sandusky; a brother, Carl Prenzlin, Findlay; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Michael; a daughter, Ann Prenzlin; three brothers, Johnnie, Wayne and Warren; and two sisters, Zenith Flagg and Etta Myers.

Mr. Prenzlin retired in 1984 after more than 30 years as a machine operator at Autolite (now Honeywell), Fostoria.

He was a World War II Army veteran, and a member of the American Legion and Moose Lodge, both in Fostoria.

He was a 1944 graduate of Montgomery High School, Wayne.

A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in the chapel at Knollcrest Garden, near Arcadia, where military honors will be conducted by the joint service group of Fostoria.

No visitation will be held.

PEYTON, MARK G.

Mark G. Peyton, 44, of Maple St., in Fostoria, died at 4:15 a.m., Wednesday, June 6, 2001, at his home.

He was born April 21, 1957, in Fostoria, to Robert and Mary Ann (Cook) Peyton, who survive in Fostoria. On May 21, 1977, in Fostoria, he married Christina Steinhauer, who survives.

Survivors also include: a son, Jonathan Peyton and a daughter, Jessica Peyton, both at home; and two sisters, Janna Wagner of Fostoria, and Cindy Fennewald of Toledo.

Mr. Peyton was owner and operator of Peyton Remodeling in Fostoria. He was a 1975 graduate of Fostoria High School and a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Fostoria. Services will be at 11 a.m., Friday, at the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home in Fostoria. The Rev. Terry Steinhauer will be the officiant. Burial will be in Fountain Cemetery in Fostoria.

Visitation is 6-9 p.m., Thursday, and one hour prior to Friday's services, at the funeral home.

PHILLIPS, NORMAN M.

Norman M. Phillips, 77, of 516 Maple St., in Fostoria, died Tuesday, June 12, 2001 at Fostoria Community Hospital.

He was born Feb. 17, 1924 in Tiffin, to Julius and Flossie (Harrison) Phillips, and both are deceased. On Aug. 15, 1942, at the Second United Church of Christ in Tiffin, he married Eileen M. Woodland, and she survives.

Survivors also include: three daughters, Mrs. Wetzel (Sandra) Ray of Lafayette, Mrs. Otto (Kathy) Blackburn of Fostoria, and Mrs. David (Tracy) Hierholzer of St. Marys; a sister, Mary Alice Swably of Tiffin; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Mr. Phillips served in the U.S. Army during WW II and was Staff Sergeant serving in the American Theater, awarded an EAME ribbon with a Bronze Star Good Conduct Medal and Bronze Star Victory Medal.

He was employed with the grocery store business for 55 years which included the former A&P in Tiffin, and later became manager for the Bellevue, Fostoria, and Lima A & P stores, and the Pantry Pride Store in St. Marys.

He was of the Catholic faith, a life member of St. Mary's VFW Post, and the St. Mary's American Legion Post.

Services for Mr. Phillips will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, at Hoffman Gottfried Funeral Home in Tiffin, with the Rev. Al Wilkes officiating. Military graveside services, conducted by the United Veterans Council, will be in Greenlawn Cemetery.

Visitation is 4-9 p.m., Friday, at the funeral home.


PETHE, RICKIE A.

Rickie A. Pethe, 74, of 461 E. Tiffin St., Fostoria, died at 10:22 p.m., Wednesday, June 27, 2001, in her daughter's home in Lima.

She was born July 16, 1926, in Steubenville to John and Anna (Kish) Mihalyo. She married Arthur E. Pete on Dec. 27, 1953, in St. Michael's Catholic Church, Findlay, and he survives in Fostoria.

Other survivors include: two sons, Timothy M. of Fostoria, and Kelly A. of Delaware; three daughters, Mrs. Nathan (Kim) Heckathorn of Fostoria, Mrs Jim (Tobie) Reese and Mrs. John (Natalie) Lord, both of Lima; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three brothers, Andrew, Regis and Mike Mihalyo, all of Steubenville; and three sisters, Regina Mihalyo and Mary Chilinski of Steubenville and Tobie Seals of New Haven, Ind.

An infant son and a brother, John, are deceased.

She was a homemaker and a member of St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria.

The Rosary will be at 12:30 p.m. Saturday in the St. Wendelin Church, Fostoria, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 1 p.m. and burial in St. Wendelin Parish Cemetery.

Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. today in the Hoening Funeral Home, Fostoria, where a Christian wake service will be at 8:30 p.m.

ROUSER, HELEN R.

Helen R. Rouser, 92, of Cory Street in Fostoria, died at 5:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 3, 2001, at St. Catherine's Care Center in Fostoria.

She was born April 6, 1909, in Iler to William and Lorena (Briegel) Omwake. On Sept. 4, 1927, in Iler, she married Raymond Rouser. He died July 4, 1991.

Surviving are: two daughters, Mrs. Lewis "Beverly Jo" Williams of Mount Airy, Md., and Judy K. Fisher of Briny Breezes, Fla; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Two brothers, Carl and Leon Omwake, and three sisters, Anna Hitchings, Iris Baldwin-Dicken, and Mary Striff, also are deceased.

Mrs. Rouser was a member of Hope Lutheran Church in Fostoria, a former member of Zion Lutheran Church, a 1926 graduate of Jackson High School in Amsden and a member of its 1926 championship basketball team. She attended Bowling Green State University.

She was a 50-year member of the Seneca County Farm Bureau and Pioneer Council. She taught Sunday school at Zion Lutheran Church for many years, was a member of Martha Circle, the Hope 60 Club, Shepherds Center in Fostoria, Briny Breezes Square Dance Club for over 30 years, the Boating and Fishing Club, Bridge and Good Music Clubs and former Instructor at the Briny Breezes Hobby Club all in Florida.

Services will take place at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home in Fostoria with the Rev. Dr. Larry Knigga officiating. Burial will be in Fountain Cemetery.

Visitation is 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

RICHARDSON, JENNIE M.

Jennie M. Richardson, 90, of Fostoria, died Monday July 30, 2001 at Judson Retirement Community in Cleveland.

She was born May 31, 1911 in Norwalk to Fred Manley and Muriel (Twiss) Linson. She married Duane Everett Richardson Aug. 20, 1936 in Toledo. He died May 11, 1992.

Survivors include: two daughters, Mrs. James (Suzanne) Blaser, Shaker Heights; and Mrs. Joseph (Carole) Taris of Chula Vista, Calif.; three grandchildren; two great-grandsons, and a sister, Nancy Linson Keaney of Wheat Ridge, Colo.

Mrs. Richardson graduated from Oberlin School of Commerce and attended Miami University in Oxford, where she was a member of Delta Zeta sorority. She was an active member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Fostoria, and the Rachel Circle. She was also a member of Forum Literary Group, a long-time volunteer at Fostoria Community Hospital and the Hospital's Auxiliary.

She was an avid reader, professional golf fan and college athletics fan. She remained dedicated to a weekly swimming regimen.

Memorial services will take place at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Wesley United Methodist Church in Fostoria. The Rev. Branson Hawkes will be the officiant.

Jean Rosenberger, 75, of 219 Ely Ave., died Friday morning, Sept. 7, 2001, at her residence.

She was born July 19, 1926, in Ohio to Orvil and Lena (Osenbaugh) Higley. She married Worth Schutzberg, and he preceded her in death. She then married William "Bill" Rosenberger Oct. 7, 1968, and he survives.

Also surviving are three daughters, Linda F. Davis, Findlay; Mrs. Chris (Sue E.) Winstead, Bozeman, Mont.; and Mrs. Clifford (Kathy A.) Ferguson, Fremont; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Shane (Sharon L.) Zickefoose, Fostoria; a stepson, Mark W. Rosenberger, Marblehead; five grandchildren; three brothers, George T. Collert, Aiken, S.C.; Jack L. Collert, Lima; and Gerald J. "Gerry" Collert, Findlay; and a sister, Mrs. Jim (Rosella) Pemberly, Barnesville, Ga. Mrs.

Rosenberger was a clerical worker at Dow Chemical. She had worked at Montgomery Ward, Fostoria; and retired from Jaqua's Sporting Goods.

She was a member of Arcadia United Methodist Church and Findlay Chapter 632 Women of the Moose.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Coldren-Crates Funeral Home, the Rev. Chris Cravens officiating. Burial will be in Knollcrest Gardens, near Arcadia.

RUSSELL, CHARLES E.

Charles E. Russell, 71, of Elyria, and formerly of Fostoria, died at 1:01 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2001, at Elyria Memorial Hospital.

He was born March 1, 1930, in Fostoria to Melvin and Ethel (Bell) Russell. He married Norma J. Frankart on June 2, 1951, at St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria, and she survives.

Also surviving are a son, Craig E. of Elyria; and a grandchild.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Lois Jean Smith.

Mr. Russell retired in 1986 from the Federal Aviation Administration in Oberlin, where he had worked since 1964. He previously had worked for the FAA in Detroit, Mich., from 1955-64.

He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War, serving from 1951-55.

He was a 1948 graduate of Jackson-Liberty High School.

He was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church, Elyria, and National and Northern Ohio Thunderbird clubs.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Harold E. Rainey, 90, formerly of 405 E. South St., Arcadia, died at 9:55 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 13, 2001, at Heartland of Bucyrus.

He was born Oct. 24, 1910, in Fostoria to Fredrick H. and Myrtle (Yost) Rainey. He married Minta Criss on July 24, 1933, and she survives him in Arcadia.

Also surviving are two daughters, Shirley A. Etoll, Findlay; and Mrs. Gary (Marilyn K.) Auck, Bucyrus; four grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Charles L. of Elyria; and two sisters, Clara Eatherton, Florida; and Mary Nungester, Arlington.

He was preceded in death by a grandchild; a great-grandchild; two brothers, Cecil H. and Roy; and three sisters, Florence Estep, Hazel Schook and Mabel Rainey.

Mr. Rainey retired in 1975 as a miller for Mennel Milling Co., Fostoria, after 35 years.

He was a member of Arcadia United Methodist Church.

She was born Jan. 20, 1922, in Findlay to Milton Earl and Lula Ellen (Shearer) Beard. She married Galen Ray Presler on Sept. 14, 1940, in Vanlue, and he died Jan. 8, 1997.

Surviving are two daughters, Faye J. Taggart, Arcadia; Mrs. James (Kay Ellen) Campbell, Houston, Texas; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Lester Thomas and Gerald Levi Beard; and a sister, Evelyn Beard.

Mrs. Presler retired in 1988 as a bookkeeper at Presler Oil Co., Fostoria, after 35 years. She also was an evangelist with her husband.

She was a 1939 graduate of Vanlue High School.

She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, Findlay; National Rifle Association; Lakewood Church, Houston, Texas; and the former Pythian Sisters, Arcadia.

Merle E. Pelfree, 74, of Kokomo, IN, died at 9:05 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 21, 2001, at his home.

He was born Oct. 5, 1927, in Bloomington, Ind., to Hershal and Flossie (Deming) Pelfree-Balanger. He married Ruby L. Smith on April 26, 1952 in Tiffin and she survives.

Millie Rossow, 89, of Arcadia, Fla., formerly of Fostoria, died Oct. 25, 2001, in Arcadia, Fla.

She was born June 23, 1912, to the late Maximilian and Henrietta (Hoehler) Kaufeld. She married Carl Rossow. He is deceased.

There will be no services or visitations. Burial will be in Fountain Cemetery in Fostoria.

She was born Dec. 29, 1910, in Arcadia to John J. and Nettie (Brookman) Snyder. She married Robert B. Reid on June 19, 1935, and he died July 5, 1986.

Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Wilbur (Carol) Altman, Reno, Nev.; Mrs. Alfred (Pat) Braaksma, Hot Springs Village, Ark.; and Joan Steers, Fort Wayne, Ind.; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Lawrence Snyder, Fostoria; and two sisters, Margaret Rhoten, Arcadia; and Wilma Park, Ada.

She was preceded in death by a grandchild and a great-grandchild. Mrs. Reid was a homemaker.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Arcadia, and Women of WELCA.

PHILLIPS, NORMAN F.

Norman F. Phillips, 77, of 425 West Ridge Dr., Unit 11, Fostoria, died at 10:20 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2001 at Independence House, Fostoria. He was born Oct. 25, 1924 in Risingsun to Floyd W. and Elizabeth (Kinney) Phillips. He married Marjorie K. Fawcett on Sept. 9, 1944. They were divorced. He then married W. LaVonne Roppe on Feb. 23, 1974 and she survives.

Other survivors include: a son, Michael J Phillips of Annandale, VA.; a daughter, Mrs. Ann Phillips DiMisa of Fairfax Station, VA.; two step-daughters, Mrs. Paula (Good) Lombardy and Pamela (Good)
Huffman, both of Fostoria; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Ruth Jurrus of Hamilton.

Mr. Phillips was a U.S. Navy Veteran serving in WW II.

A private service will be held in Mann-Hare Funeral Home, Fostoria. Internment at Knollcrest Gardens, Arcadia with Military Graveside Services by the United Veterans Council.


RINEBOLD, MARY L.

Loving wife and mother Mary L. Rinebold, 91, of 1185 VanBuren St., Fostoria, died at 6:38 p.m. Friday, Nov. 23, 2001, at The Toledo Hospital.

She was born Aug. 22, 1910, in Fostoria, to Louis and Rosalie (Erbland) Bauer. Both are deceased. She married Judson "Jud" Rinebold on July 19, 1940, at St. Wendelin Catholic Church in Fostoria. He survives in Fostoria.

A son, Rodger Rinebold of Cincinnati, also survives.

Preceding her in death also include: two brothers, Louis Bauer Jr. and Albert Bauer; and two sisters, Josephine Nibeck and Louise Aurand.

Mrs. Rinebold was a homemaker and a retired registered nurse, having worked at Fostoria Community Hospital and private practices.

Memberships included: St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria; a longtime blood bank volunteer for the Fostoria American Red Cross, and the Fostoria Country Club where she was an avid golfer.

She graduated in 1928 from St. Wendelin High School in Fostoria and in 1933 from St. John's Hospital in Cleveland.

A rosary will be prayed at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria, followed by a Mass of Christian
Burial at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in Fountain Cemetery, Fostoria.

He was born Nov. 26, 1980, in Findlay to Dennis R. and Catherine M. (Enright) Roberts. They survive in Findlay.

Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Duane M. (Jennifer L.) DeBoo and Tera M. Roberts, both of Findlay; maternal grandmother Dorothy M. Enright, Findlay; paternal grandmother Kathleen H. Roberts, Findlay; stepgrandmother Pauline "Polly" Roberts, Findlay; and maternal great-grandmother Mary Jennings, Fostoria.

Mr. Roberts was an Ohio University student majoring in communications. He also was a part-time disc jockey at WFOB Fostoria, and worked part-time at Dietsch Brothers.

He was a member of Findlay Cobras Travel Soccer Team, Findlay Area Golf and Hockey associations, and Junior Achievement. He played Findlay High School soccer, was a Roppe Corporation scholarship recipient, and was vice president of Beta Chapter of Phi Kappa Tau fraternity.

She was born May 25, 1914 in Harlan, Ky. to Henry and Eliza (Lewis) Creech. She married John N. Pullom Sr. in October 1935, and he died March 26, 1971.

Survivors include three sons, William "Bunny" of Fostoria; John N. of Cairo, Egypt; Michael E. of Findlay; four daughters, Mrs. William (Juliana) Lawson and Brenda Anderson, both of Fostoria; Mrs. Henry (Marva "Cookie") Goodwin, Toledo; Rita K. Lincoln, Findlay; 21 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; three sisters, Mrs. Walter (Helen) Brown and Opal Miller, both of Louisville, Ky.; and Mrs. Paul (Jenell) Johnson, Berkeley, Calif.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Donald and Maurice; a great-grandchild; two brothers, Horace and Merle Creech; and three sisters, Mae West, Verl Bailey and Hazel Clemens.

Mrs. Pullom was a production welder for 22 years for General Electric, Tiffin, retiring in 1974.

She graduated from Rosenwald High School, Harlan, Ky.

She was a former member of First Baptist Church, Harlan, Ky. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Fostoria, where she was a former chairperson of the Building Fund Committee, a pianist, choir director and Missionary Board member.

She also was a member of Eastern Star Chapter 93, Fostoria; past secretary for the local NAACP and the Longfellow PTA; and a former member of Longfellow Elementary School election board.

REINHART, JOSEPH DANIEL

Joseph Daniel Reinhart, 71, of 1004 S. Main St., Fostoria,, died at 7:10 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 29, 2001, in Heartland of Browning Nursing Home, Waterville.

He was born March 11, 1930, in Tiffin, to Thomas M. and Evelyn (Welter) Reinhart. He married Idella Nye on Nov. 18, 1950, and they divorced.

Survivors include four sons, Daryle Reinhart, Keith Reinhart, Wayne Reinhart and Ken Reinhart of Fostoria; two daughters, Kathleen Reinhart of Cygnet, and Joyce Shellhouse of Fostoria; 10 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a step-great-grandchild; two brothers, John S. Reinhart and Lewis E. Reinhart of Fostoria; and a sister, Mrs. Ralph (Mary Louise) Weinandy, Alvada.

His stepmother, Charlotte Cooper, preceded him in death.

He retired in 1984 from Atlas, Inc., Fostoria; attended St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria; was a member of the New Riegel American Legion Post 354 and Fostoria Eagles Aerie 430; and was a United States Army veteran.

A Rosary will be prayed at 10:40 a.m. Monday in St. Peter Catholic Church, Alvada, with Mass of Christian Burial following at 11 a.m. Military funeral services will be conducted by New Riegel American Legion. Fr. Leonard Kistler C.P.P.S. and Deacon Lewis E. Reinhart will be officiating. Burial will be in the St. Peter Parish Cemetery, Alvada.

Visitation will be 2-9 p.m. Sunday at the Hoening Funeral Home, Fostoria, where a Christian wake service will be 1at 8 p.m. followed by an American Legion memorial service.

RIFE, W. DAN W.

Dan Rife, 65, of Upper Sandusky, died Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 11, 2001, in Fostoria Community Hospital.

He was born Aug. 6, 1936, in Bucyrus to Grier S. and Leafa E. (Dudley) Rife. Both are deceased. He married Carolyn J. Brown on April 30, 1961, in Bucyrus and she survives.

Survivors also include: two daughters, Mrs. Quinton (Kim) Clady of Sycamore, and Mrs. Dan (Beckie) Patchett of Upper Sandusky; four grandchildren; and two sisters, Gwen Becknell of Thomasville, Ga., and Shirley Stahl of Inverness, Fla.

Mr. Rife served in the U.S. Army from 1955-1956.

Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Bringman-Clark and Co. Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky. Burial will be in Old Mission Cemetery.

Visitation is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.


REESE, ZELMA

Funeral services for Zelma "Rachel" Reese, 83, of 1501 Marcelle Ave., will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at First Assembly of God Church, the Revs. Darrell Ramsey and Charles Jarvis officiating. Burial will be in Knollcrest Gardens, east of Findlay.

Visitation will be held from 2-5 p.m. Sunday at Routson Funeral Chapel.

Mrs. Reese died Thursday, Dec. 13, 2001 at her residence.

She was born Dec. 23, 1917 in Lima to Herman and Jennie (McElroy) Augsburger. She married Byron Reese on Sept. 18, 1935, and he died Oct. 20, 1999.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Charles (Janice) Jarvis, Fostoria; and Mrs. Harold (Sharon Ann) Gerken, Tennessee; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a brother, Gale Augsburger, McComb.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Wilford Augsburger.

Mrs. Reese was office manager at Reese Refrigeration for more than 40 years.

She was a charter member of First Assembly of God Church for more than 60 years; and and a member of Christian Women's Association.
