Atlas Crankshaft retiree
Thomas C. VanCuren, 60, died at
9 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 9, 2000, at his home at 427 Autumnwood Drive.
He was born July 22, 1939, in Tiffin,
to the late William C. and Helen T. (Ziegman) VanCuren. His
wife, Emily (Renninger) VanCuren, whom he married Oct. 15, 1994,
in Akron, survives.
Other survivors include: two daughters,
Kristin VanCuren of Toledo and Karin VanCuren of Akron; two
stepdaughters, Judy Mounts of Port Orange, Fla., and Jennie
Nowak of Winter Park, Fla.; a stepson, Lee Davenport of Perrysburg;
and five grandchildren.
A sister, Charlotte Riester, is
deceased.
Mr. VanCuren retired in 1998 as
an inspector from the Atlas Crankshaft, Fostoria. He also worked
as maintenance supervisor for Gilchrist Molding (Rubbermaid),
retiring in 1999.
A U.S. Navy veteran, having served
on the USS Spieger Grove (LSD 32), he had been involved in the
invasion of Beirut, Lebanon.
He was a member of St. Mary Catholic
Church, the Knights of Columbus and Tiffin Moose Lodge 846.
A funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m.
Wednesday in St. Mary Catholic Church, where the rosary will
be recited at 9:45 a.m. The Rev. Frank A. Murd will be the celebrant.
Burial will be in the parish cemetery, with military graveside
services conducted by the United Veterans Council.
Visitation is 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
today at the Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home, where a Christian
wake service will be at 8:45 p.m.
Memorials may be made to the American
Cancer Society, Calvert High School, Community Hospice Care
or the donor's choice.

Clothing company retailer
M. Reed Zimmerman, 85, of 501 Short
Elm St., Fostoria, died at 8:40 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 27, 2000,
in Independence House, Fostoria.
He was born Nov. 6, 1914, in Jackson
Township, to Mervin and Ida (Bonawit) Zimmerman. His wife, Betty
Gene (Neiman) Zimmerman, whom he married June 30, 1940, in Fostoria,
survives.
Other survivors include: two daughters,
Sharon Fay Zimmerman of Columbus and Joan Hoye of Columbia,
Md.
Mr. Zimmerman, who enjoyed traveling,
picture framing and gardening, had been employed as a retailer
for the Mose Lamfrom Clothing Co. in Fostoria for 26 years,
owning the business 1955 until his retirement in 1973.
He also worked as an accountant
for General Electric 1939-47 in Schenectady, N.Y.
He was a former member of the Fostoria
Kiwanis Club, where he served as president in 1952 and secretary
in 1962.
A 1932 graduate of Fostoria High
School, where he served as class officer, he was active in Boy
Scouts and was a committee member of the Seneca District of
the Put-Han-Sen Council.
He received his bachelor's degree
in business administration in 1939 from the Ohio State University
College of Commerce. While at OSU he was president of the Beta
Gamma Sigma National Commerce Honors Fraternity, president of
the Beta Alpha Psi National Accounting Fraternity, Commerce
Council president, president of Beta Eta Sigma National Freshman
Scholastic Honors Fraternity, Scarlet and Gray treasurer, sophomore
class president and member of the Student Senate, Buckeye Club
and the Freshmen Tennis Team.
His body has been donated to science.

I.
TIFFIN -- Graveside services for
Nellie Irene Walters, 90, of Huss Street, Tiffin, will be held
at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Knollcrest Cemetery, formerly Memory Gardens,
near Arcadia, the Rev. Jeffrey L. Waite officiating.
There will be no visitation.
Mrs. Walters died at 10:51 a.m.
Thursday, Feb. 3, 2000 at Tiffin Mercy Hospital.
She was born May 10, 1909 in Upper
Sandusky to Phillip and Cora (Vent) Dome. She married Frank
Brewer and they divorced. She then married Raymond Walters on
July 13, 1958 in Tiffin and he died in June of 1983.
She is survived by two sons, Clayton
E. and Kenneth D. Brewer, both of Tiffin; two daughters, Mrs.
John (Shirley) McLaughlin, Fostoria; and Sylvia McDaniels, Carey;
seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Agnes
Cornish, Toledo.
She was preceded in death by two
brothers, Roy and Paul Dome; and two sisters, Edith Crist and
Orva Burley.
Mrs. Walters retired in 1971 after
working 21 years as press operator and custodian for Sterling
Grinding Wheel & ITT.
She was a 1928 graduate of Upper
Sandusky High School.

FOSTORIA -- Myrtle A. Wright,
66, of 568 Bulger Ave., Fostoria, died at 9:21 p.m. Saturday,
Feb. 5, 2000, at Fostoria Community Hospital.
She was born Sept. 13, 1933, in
Lewisburg, Pa., to Grant and Mary A. (Bennett) Arnold. She married
Howard R. Wright in Watsontown, Pa., and he survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Grant
W. Reynolds, Findlay; Scott W. Booth, North Baltimore; six grandchildren;
three brothers, Charles Arnold, Watsontown, Pa.; Grant Arnold,
Milton, Pa.; Abraham Arnold, New Columbia, Pa.; and three sisters,
Madilene French, New Columbia, Pa.; Virginia Poust, Watsontown,
Pa.; Shirley Snyder, Turbotville, Pa.
She was preceded in death by one
brother, Tom Arnold; and one half brother, Harry Arnold.
Mrs. Wright was a homemaker.
Funeral services and burial will

FOSTORIA -- Esther M. Wendt, 93,
of 519 N. Countyline St., Fostoria, died at 2:42 p.m. Monday,
Feb. 14, 2000, at Fostoria Community Hospital.
She was born June 7, 1906, in Denver,
Colo., to John and Emma (Flechtner) Comer. She married Walter
L. Wendt on June 16, 1929, and he died Dec. 3, 1979.
Surviving are two daughters, Nancy
Malone and Karen Wendt, both of Fostoria; six grandchildren;
six great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Wendt was a homemaker. She
also was a former teacher at Wainwright Conservatory, Fostoria,
Karm School of Music, Tiffin, and gave classes in many surrounding
towns.
She was a member of Hope Lutheran
Church, Fostoria, where she was former Sunday School superintendent
of primary department and Hope 60 Club. She was past president
of Fostoria Lineage Research Society, Fostoria Women's Club
and Fostoria Historical Society.
Mrs. Wendt graduated in 1927 with
a degree in dramatic art and dancing from the Graham School
of Expression, Toledo. She also attended Heidelberg College,
Tiffin.
Funeral services will be held at
10:30 a.m. Thursday at Mann-Hare Funeral Home, Fostoria, the
Rev. Carl Kessler officiating. Burial will be in Fountain Cemetery,
Fostoria.
Visitation will be held from 2-4
p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Wolph's Welding owner/operator
George Robert Wolph, 83, formerly
of 930 Springville Ave., Fostoria, died at 4:23 a.m. Wednesday,
Feb. 23, 2000, in Fostoria Community Hospital.
He was born March 11, 1916, in
Toledo, to George C. and Agnes S. (White) Wolph. His wife, Mary
Joan (Lonsway) Wolph, whom he married June 28, 1941, in St.
Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria, died Feb. 24, 1999.
Survivors
include: a son, Thomas Wolph of California; two daughters, Sharyn
Huffman of Wayne, Pa., and Cecelia Tasker of Fostoria; seven
grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Helen
Wolph of Fostoria.
Preceding him in death were a granddaughter,
Tiffanie Tasker; three brothers, Paul, William and John Wolph;
and a sister, Jayne Behm.
Mr. Wolph, a retired welder, was
the owner and operator of Wolph's Welding Co. in Fostoria.
A World War II U.S. Army veteran,
he was a member of St. Wendelin Catholic Church.
Memorial services will be at a
later date. His body has been donated to science.

Raymond J. Wilhelm, 79, of 124
Wentz St. died at 12:07 a.m. Thursday, March 16, 2000, in Lucas
County.
Mr. Wilhelm was born June 24, 1920,
in Seneca County to John and Margaret (Desch) Wilhelm. He first
married Genevieve Caruso and she died in 1983. He then married
Rose (Troxell) Windau in St. Mary's Church, Tiffin, on Jan.
25, 1986, and she survives.
Also surviving are: five daughters,
Mrs. Jeffrey (Diana) Hollis of Willoughby, Mrs. Richard (Denise)
Kirchner of Huber Heights, Mrs. Steven (Debra) Smalley of Carey,
Mrs. David (Darlene) Bauer of Columbus, Mrs. Todd (Donna) Hefner
of Tiffin; two stepsons, Steven Windau of Tiffin, Jeffery Windau
of Peachtree City, Ga.; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Darrell (Karen)
Mann of Littleton, Colo., Brenda Pisani of Copley, Pa.; 13 grandchildren;
six step-grandchildren; five brothers, Bill, John, Donald, Karl
and Gene, all of Tiffin; four sisters, Sister Mary Beth Wilhelm
of Fond-du-Lac, Wis., Mrs. Joseph (Helen) Rippinger and Mrs.

Two brothers, Paul and Robert,
are deceased.
He graduated from Calvert High
School in 1938; a World War II Army veteran; was a self-employed
carpenter; a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Tiffin Moose
Lodge #846, Eagles Aerie #402, V.F.W. #2858 and AmVets 348.
The Rosary will be recited at 10:15
a.m. at the St. Mary's Catholic Church with the funeral mass
following at 10:30 a.m. Monday. The Rev. Frank Murd and the
Rev. Richard Dunn will officiate. Interment will be in St. Mary's
Cemetery with military graveside services conducted by the United
Veterans Council.

Mr. Young died Wednesday morning,
March 22, 2000 at his residence.
He was born Feb. 12, 1973 in Fostoria
to Kyle and Cheryl (Seel) Young, and they survive in Fostoria.
He married Jennifer Kaye Lanning on June 23, 1995 in Risingsun,
and she also survives in Fostoria.
Other survivors include two daughters,
Hannah Young and Brittany Boos-Young, both at home; two sisters,
Mrs. David (Jessica) Young-Turner and Mrs. Brett (Jorie) Young-Moes,
both of Fostoria; maternal grandparents Bernard and Joyce Seel
Sr., and Joan Seel, all of Fostoria; and paternal grandmother
Violet Young, Fostoria.
Mr. Young was a machine operator
for Hancor Inc., Findlay.
He was a 1991 St. Wendelin High
School graduate and earned an associate's degree in fire science
from Owens Community College.
He was a member of St. Wendelin
Catholic Church, Fostoria, and was a former Kansas volunteer
fireman.

Allied Signal retiree
Cleo Marie Wagner, 71, of Main
Street, Risingsun, died at 6:35 p.m. Monday, March 27, 2000,
in Fostoria Community Hospital.
She was born in Kansas, Ohio, Aug.
14, 1928, to Sherman and Elva (Roush) Klotz. On Oct. 4, 1952,
in New Riegel, she married Wilfred G. Wagner. He survives in
Risingsun.
Other survivors include: a son,
Curtis R. Wagner of Fostoria; three daughters, Sheila M. Sharp
of Fostoria, Pamela Feller and Ginger Wilson, both of Risingsun;
a brother, Dallas Klotz of Helena; a sister, Valena Gibson of
Bowling Green; 11 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Also preceding her in death were
a brother, Cletus Klotz; and three sisters, Natilla Gaskalla,
Elma Baker and Martha Klotz.
A 1947 graduate of Risingsun High
School, Mrs. Wagner retired in 1980 as an inspector from Allied
Signal (now Honeywell) in Fostoria, where she had been employed
for 33 years.
She was a member of St. Paul's
United Methodist Church, Risingsun.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday
in the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home, Fostoria. Burial will
be in Trinity Cemetery, Scott Township, Risingsun.
Visitation is 6-8 p.m. today at
the funeral home.

ARCADIA -- Dessie Mae Wells, 97, of 404 N. Main
St., Arcadia, died at 2:50 a.m. Monday, April 3, 2000 at Independence
House, Fostoria.
She was born Oct. 24, 1902 in Hancock
County to Charles and Mary Ellen (Gangle) Conine. She married
Orlo D. Wells on Aug. 16, 1928 and he died March 8, 1971.
Surviving are two daughters, Peggy
Fleegle, Arcadia; Mary Ellen Wells, Littleton, Colo.; four
grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; four sisters, Marjorie
Nesbitt, Betty Heischman, Lois Holman and Marilyn Miller,
all of Fostoria.
She was preceded in death by six
brothers and four sisters.
She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Wells was a life member of
Arcadia United Methodist Church. She was also a member of
the Arcadia Live Wire Class, Senior Citizens of Arcadia, Arcadia
Garden Club, of which she was a charter member, Arcadia Sewing
Club, and the Pythian Lodge.
Funeral services will be held at
11 a.m. Friday at Arcadia United Methodist Church, the Rev.
James Ritchey officiating. Burial will be in Arcadia Cemetery.

Michael A. Waltermyer, 50, of
1212 42nd St., Fostoria, died at 2:18 a.m. Friday, April 21,
2000, in the Medical College of Ohio Hospital.
He was born July 26, 1949, to
George L. and Lillian (LaFountaine) Waltermyer. He married
Helen Cole Aug. 8, 1984, in Fostoria. She survives.
Also surviving are: two sons,
Harold L. of Columbus and Jonathon G. of Fostoria; two stepsons,
George N. Loy and Glenn E. Loy, both of Fostoria; a daughter,
Tonya K. Waltermyer of Fostoria; a stepdaughter, Ginger R.
Loy of Fostoria; three grandchildren; a brother, Dennis R.
of Fostoria; three sisters, Karen S. Williamson, Lori E. Waltermyer,
and Mrs. Dennis (Cheryl) Payton, all of Mt. Gilead.
He was preceded in death by his
parents, and a son, Ronald.
He was a veteran of the U.S.
Marine Corps, serving in the Vietnam War, and was a wire cutter
at Seneca Wire for 23 years, retiring in 1998.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday,
in the Knollcrest Cemetery, near Arcadia, with the Pastor
Vince Lyons officiating. Military graveside rites by the United
Veterans of Fostoria.

54, of Wichita Falls, Texas, will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m.
Saturday, May 13 at St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria.

Mr. Wenzke died Saturday, April 22, 2000,
in Wichita Falls.
He was born Nov. 8, 1945 in Toledo to Louis
Edward and Eleanor (Gants) Wenzke, who both survive in Fostoria.
He married Debora Clark, and she survives in Wichita Falls.
Other survivors include a son, Jason of Fostoria;
two brothers, Dennis Carroll and Thomas Louis, both of Fostoria;
and a sister, Judy Ann Wenzke, Fostoria.
Mr. Wenzke was a foreman/supervisor for the
former Flechtner Meat Packing Co. in Fostoria, and Don Fields
Construction in Wichita Falls.
He was a 1963 St. Wendelin High School graduate,
and had attended St. Joseph's College in Indiana. He was a
member of St. Wendelin Catholic Church.

Rural Fostoria homemaker
Florance L. Wank, 82, of TR 84, Fostoria,
died at 2 a.m. Saturday, May 6, 2000, in Fostoria Community
Hospital.
She was born in Risingsun, Sept. 26, 1917,
to Durbin and Ethel (Witmore) Phillips. On April 5, 1948,
in Fostoria, she married Norman J. Wank Sr., who survives.
Other survivors include: two daughters,
Mrs. Dan (Susan) Greeno of Fostoria and Mrs. Carl (Deborah)
Johnson of Risingsun; and two grandchildren.
A son, Norman Wank Jr.; a daughter, Mary
Wank; and a brother, Lloyd Phillips, also are deceased.
Mrs. Wank, a homemaker, was a 1935 graduate
of Fostoria High School.

Long-time Excello employee
Clyde E. Wickman, 73, of 25 Christopher Drive,
Fostoria, died at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 16, 2000, in the
Fostoria Community Hospital.
He was born April 4, 1927, in Hancock County,
to Ray A. and Mabel M. (Basel) Wickman. His first wife, Marjorie
(Hockenberger) Wickman, died in 1984. He later married Dolores
Jones, who survives in Fostoria.
Other survivors include: a daughter, Loretta
Wickman of Michigan; a son, Kenneth Wickman of Mesa, Ariz.;
and a sister, Mrs. Marion (Wilma) Sherman of Fostoria.
Mr. Wickman, a member of St. Wendelin Catholic
Church, Fostoria, had been employed at the Excello (Airfoil
Textron) in Fostoria, for more than 30 years.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in the
Hoening Funeral Home, Fostoria. Burial will be in Graham Cemetery,
Wayne.

Former Autolite employee
Ralph H. "Bud" Weaver, 75, of
Sandusky CR 36, Kansas, Ohio, was pronounced dead on arrival
at Fostoria Community Hospital Sunday evening, May 21, 2000.
He was born April 27, 1925, in
Fostoria, to Ralph K. and Verdie (Howard) Weaver. On Dec.
1, 1956, in Fostoria, he married Lois Stiffler. She survives.
Survivors also include: two sons,
John H. Weaver of Columbus and James "Tod" Weaver of Lonsdale,
Minn.; a sister, Nancy Stratton of Columbus; and three grandchildren.
A 1943 graduate of Jackson Liberty
High School, he attended Ohio State University for two years.
Mr. Weaver, who had worked at
the Autolite in Fostoria for 15 years; was a dairy farmer
with Ayrshire cattle until 1970 and retired from the Ohio
Department of Agriculture in 1988. He also taught vocational
agriculture for two years and served as a substitute teacher
in the Sandusky County Schools for 16 years.
A member of Wesley United Methodist
Church, Fostoria, he enjoyed raising and showing Bantam chickens
the past several years.
He was a member of the American
Bantam Association and a former member of the Sandusky County
Sheep Association.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday
in the Nopper-Veh Funeral Home, Gibsonburg. Burial will be
in Quinshan Cemetery, Gibsonburg.
Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Wednesday
at the funeral home.

Abel, and they divorced. She survives in Fostoria.

Matthew J. of Fostoria; a daughter, Angie R. Wonderly, Fostoria;

He was preceded in death by a sister,
Laura Wonderly.
Mr. Wonderly, a 1978 Lakota High
School graduate, worked for Findlex in Findlay.
He attended St. Michael's Catholic
Church, Findlay.

She was born May
2, 1904 in Fostoria to James and Grace (Harman) Kuhn.
She married Donald Heckathorn April 9, 1923 in Fostoria and
he died Sept. 23, 1968. She then married Charence E Vanderhoff
June 20, 1971 and he died Oct. 4, 1996.
She is survived
by two sons, Paul and Charles Heckathorn, both of Fostoria:
a stepson, James Vanderhoff, Fostoria: two daughters, Marilyn
Smith, Risingsun, and Eula Jenkins, Okay, Okla.: A step
daughter, Sharon Heilman, Fostoria; a half-brother, James Kuhn,
Fostoria; 18 grandchildren; 9 step grandchildren
and several great-grandchildren.
She was proceeded
in death by a brother, Forest Kimes; a half-brother, Orlo Kuhn;
two half-sisters. Helen Smith and Goldie Priano; and two grandchildrren.
Mrs. Vanderhoff
retired in 1963 from S.S. Kresge, Fostoria, where she worked
as a clerk. Prior to that she worked at F.W. Woolworth,
Fostoria.
She was a member
of High Street United Methodist Church, Fostoria Loyal Order
of the Moose, VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Senior Citizens and
Golden Grandmothers Club.
Services will
be 10:30a.m. Saturday at Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Knollcrest Cemetery, Near Arcadia.
Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Retired truck driver
James L. Vitte, 67, of 905 Woodrow
Wilson Drive, Fostoria, died at 3:51 a.m. Thursday, June 8,
2000, at his residence. He was born March 9, 1933, to Frank
J. and Goldie (Shupe) Vitte. They are deceased. On April 8,
1951, he married Alice L. Baker. She survives.
Other survivors include: three
sons, Ricky L. Vitte of Helena, James L. Vitte and Jerry L.
Vitte, both of Fostoria; a daughter, Mrs. Linda Woerner of Risingsun;
a brother, Richard Vitte of Columbus; six grandchildren and
three great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were five
brothers, Frank Jr., Jack, Marvin, Claude and Ronald Vitte.
Mr. Vitte retired in January 1978
after 30 years as a self-employed truck driver with Detroit
Pittsburgh Motor Freight. He was a member of Fostoria Assembly
Church of God.
The Rev. Charles Jarvis will officiate
the 10:30 a.m. Saturday, funeral at the Mann-Hare Funeral Home,
Fostoria. Burial will be at Fountain Cemetery.

Joanne Wood, 72, of 725 Columbus
Ave., Fostoria, died at 3:45 a.m. Friday, June 16, 2000, in
the Good Shepherd Nursing Home of Fostoria.
Mrs. Wood was born March 6, 1928,
in West Virginia to George and Blanche (McKinnon) Carney. She
married Robert L. Wood on Feb. 29, 1956, and he died on Dec.
11, 1996.
She is survived by: three daughters,
Judy Lamb and Mrs. John (Patricia) Erman, both of Fostoria,
and Mrs. Terry (Diana) Van Meter of Bloomdale; 10 grandchildren;
and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a
brother, William Carney; and two sisters, Peggy Carter and Margaret
Jupen.
Mrs. Wood was a homemaker, and
a member of the First Church of the Nazarene, Fostoria.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m.
Monday, at the Mann-Hare Funeral Home, Fostoria.

Arthur Dean Wohlgamuth, 65, of
Woodward Avenue, Fostoria, died at 8:54 p.m. Tuesday, June 20,
2000, in Lima Memorial Hospital.
He was born Oct. 30, 1934, in Findlay,
to Carl and LaVerne (Slaughterbeck) Wohlgamuth. He first married
Sue Sheerer and they were divorced. On Aug. 11, 1978, in Tiffin,
he married Betty Kitchen. She survives in Fostoria.
Other survivors include: a son,
Neal Wohlgamuth of Goldsboro, N.C.; a daughter, Mrs. George
(Karen) Kosko of Newark; a stepson, James Cotter of Kentucky;
three stepdaughters, Kathy Kitchen and Mrs. Danny (Barb) Hutton,
both of Fostoria, and Mrs. Kenneth (Julie) Knotts of Marion;
a sister, Mrs. Paul (Charlotte) Payne of Findlay; 13 grandchildren
and a great-grandchild.
Mr. Wohlgamuth, a U.S. Navy veteran,
retired from the Union Carbide Co. in Fostoria.
A former manager, life member and
past exalted ruler of Fostoria Elks Lodge 935, he also was a
member of Fostoria Eagles Lodge, Fostoria Footlighters and past
president of the Traffic Club.
Pastor Art Suydam will be the officiant
at the 10 a.m. Saturday service in the Harrold-Floriana Funeral
Home, Fostoria. Burial will be in Knollcrest Cemetery, near
Arcadia, where the joint Veteran Group of Fostoria will conduct
military honors at the graveside.

p.m. Friday at the funeral home, where Elks memorial services

Ersie F. Wagoner, 100, formerly
of 400 N. Main St., Fostoria, died at 6:25 p.m. Friday, June
23, 2000, in the Good Shepherd Home, Fostoria.
She was born May 1, 1900, in Miami
County, Ind., to George W. and Emma (Donahue) Weaver. Her husband,
Lewis D. Wagoner, whom she married May 26, 1924, in Marion,
Ind., preceded her in death May 1, 1974.
Survivors include: a nephew, David
Weaver of Kokomo, Ind. and two nieces, Ruth Glasburn of Peru,
Ind. and Sally Andrews of North Kingstown, R.I.
Several brothers and sisters, also
preceded her in death.
Mrs. Wagoner, a homemaker, had
been a member of the First Christian Church in Fostoria since
1934.
She also was a member of the Fostoria
Women's Club, American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Commission on
Aging and Fostoria Senior Citizens.
The Rev. Alonzo Wise will be the
officiant at the 1 p.m. service today in the Harrold-Floriana
Funeral Home, Fostoria. Burial will be in Monroe Cemetery, Continental.

A memorial service for John A. Vanaman, 72, of 631 Lincolnshire
Lane, will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday at First Christian Church,
the Rev. Joseph Walters officiating. The body was cremated.

Mr. Vanaman died at 5:53 p.m. Friday,
June 30, 2000 at Blanchard Valley Regional Health Center.
He was born Sept. 28, 1927 in North
Baltimore to Charles Robert and Beulah Marie (Slaughterback)
Vanaman. He married Jean Snyder on Feb. 17, 1950 in North Baltimore,
and she survives.
Also surviving are two sons, John
R. of Put-in-Bay; James of Wyoming; a daughter, Joni Ann Conley,
Fostoria; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son,
Jeff; two brothers, Robert and Earl "Deke"; and a granddaughter.
Mr. Vanaman was retired as a scheduler
for Marathon Pipeline Co. He also had worked for Standard Oil
Co. and Hancock-Wood Electric Co-op.
He was a World War II Army veteran.
He was a member of the American
Legion in North Baltimore, and First Christian Church in Findlay.
He was a former member of the Lions Club, North Baltimore, and
Sportsman Club, Findlay.
He was a former Boy Scout leader;
a former trustee for Henry Township in Wood County; a former
Little League coach; a former volunteer fireman in North Baltimore;
and a former member of Findlay's Civil Service Commission.
He had attended Bowling Green State
University.

Cecil Robert Young, 59, of 1400 Byal Ave., died of
natural causes at 4:08 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 20, 2000 at his residence.
He was born Sept. 29, 1940 in
Charleston, W.Va. to Arthur A. and Helen (Daniels) Young.
His mother, now Helen Koch, survives in Findlay. He married
Diana G. Eskins on Aug. 3, 1963 in Charleston, W.Va., and
she survives.
Also surviving are a daughter,
Ranae Strauer, Ottawa; two sons, Brian and Brett, both of
Findlay; five grandchildren; and two brothers, Hansford L.
of Jacksonville, Fla.; and A. Quentin of Findlay.
He was preceded in death by a
brother, E. Charles.
Mr. Young retired in 1997 after
working 23 years as a machine repairman at Atlas Inc., Fostoria.
He was previously employed 11 years at Dow Chemical, Findlay.
He served in the U.S. Navy and
was a member of the DAV. He also was a member of Field &
Stream Bow Hunters.
A memorial service will be held
at 2 p.m. Saturday at Routson Funeral Chapel, the Rev. Dan
Young officiating. Burial will be private in Woodlawn Gardens,
Ada.

Richard D. VanTassel, 78, of Good
Shepherd Home, formerly of West Lytle St., Fostoria, died at
3:50 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 24, 2000. He was born July 21, 1922
in Findlay to Charles and Lois (Gordon) VanTassel. On Jan. 19,
1946, he married Loretta M. King. She died April 10, 1990.
Surviving are: a son, Charles Joseph
VanTassel of Tucson, Ariz.; two daughters, Mrs. Peggy Baker
of Sidney and Mrs. Sue Gilliland of Williamsport, Pa.; two sisters,
Mrs. Mary Jean Smith of Findlay and Mrs. Rachel Holman of Fostoria;
six grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Two sisters, Helen Rita McGrain
and Juanita VanTassel, are deceased.
Mr. VanTassel served in the U.S.
Army during World War II. He retired in 1984 as a salesman for
Fletchner Meats in Fostoria. He was a member of: Fostoria Elks
Lodge; Sportsman Club; VFW; American Legion; and the AMVETS.

Mrs. Walter was born April 20,
1926, in Tiffin to Charles and Frances (Kuntz) Smith. She married
Robert C. "Bob" Walter on Aug. 24, 1946, in St. Mary's Catholic
Church and he survives in Fostoria.

M. of Tiffin; a daughter, Mrs. William (Cindy) Ashby of Fostoria;
six grandchildren; and three sisters, Anna Lucille Frankart

Eugene, preceded her in death.
She graduated from Calvert High
School in 1944; was a homemaker; worked at Fostoria "Autolite;"
a teacher's aide at Hopewell-Loudon School; a former matron
for the school; and a member of the St. Wendelin Cathaolic Church.

a.m. followed by the Mass at10:30 a.m. Thursday in St. Wendelin's

She was born Dec. 18, 1943, in
Tiffin, to Ronald and Lois (Snyder) Colvin. Her mother survives
in Findlay. Her husband, Daniel C. Vitt, whom she married July
24, 1962, in Bascom, survives in Fostoria.
Other survivors include: two sons,
Barry C. Vitt of Premich, Germany and James M. Vitt of Fostoria;
a daughter, Mrs. Eric (Beth A.) Reffner of Fostoria; five brothers,
Henry Berkheimer of Dennison, Texas, Gale "Skip" Colvin of Van
Wert, Harry Colvin of Arcadia and Ronald and George Colvin,
both of Findlay; and six grandchildren.
Her father and a sister, Ann Colvin,
are deceased.
A homemaker, Mrs. Vitt also had
been employed as a cashier at the former Fisher's Big Wheel
in Fostoria and as an assembler at RCA (now Harris Corp.) in
Findlay.

service for Richard Earl Wyant, 80, of Zephyrhills, Fla. and
formerly of Findlay, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Community
Chapel Church of God, Zephyrhills, the Rev. Keith Reilly officiating.
Burial will be in Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Fla.
Mr. Wyant died Monday, Oct. 22,
2000 at his home.
He was born June 17, 1920 in Findlay
to Frank and Maggie (Morratt) Wyant. His wife, Hope, survives.
Also surviving are a daughter,
Mrs. Don (Saundra) Bedingfield, Springfield; a brother, Charles
of Fostoria; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter,
Linda Latham; a grandchild; and a brother, Robert.
Mr. Wyant retired from Marathon
Oil Co. in 1981, and served as an auxiliary policeman for a
number of years.
He was a veteran of World War II,
serving as a machine gun corporal, ammunition section, 101st
Division, 9th Army. He fought in three major battles: Ardennes,
Battle of the Bulge, and Rhine River. He received three bronze
stars and a medal for excellent rifle carbine.
Mr. Wyant was a 32nd degree Mason,
and a member of the Elks in Brooksville, Fla. He attended Community
Chapel Church of God in Zephyrhills, Fla., and served as an
usher for many years.

He married Juanita Anez in Texas, and they divorced. He then
married Aspina Gonzales in Tiffin, and she died in 1995.
Survivors include three sons,
Reynoldo of Fremont; Santiago of Missouri; David of Toledo;
five daughters, Eloisa Salazar, Antonia Montoya and Herlinda
Uballe, all of Joliet, Ill.; Neomi Castenda and Gloria Sanchez,
both of Harlingen, Texas; 35 grandchildren; 63 great-grandchildren;
a great-great-grandchild; a brother, Francisco of San Antonio,
Texas; and a sister, Cerino Uballe, San Antonio, Texas.
He was preceded in death by a
daughter, Janie Uballe.
Mr. Uballe was a farmer near
Bascom for 46 years, retiring in 1995.

Jack Frederick Woessner, 72, of
6699 W. CR 6, New Riegel, died Thursday, Oct. 26, 2000, in the
St. Francis Health Care Center, Green Springs, following a two-month
illness.
Mr. Woessner was born in Tiffin
May 12, 1928, to Frederick and Mabel Woessner.
Survivors include: a son, Gary
Woessner of Hiawatha, Kansas; three daughters, Starleen Goshe
of Fostoria, Pam Carter of Tiffin and Brenda Adams of McComb;
a step-son, Roger Shetzer of Fremont; a step-daughter, Tina
Ritter of Tiffin; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren;
and three sisters, Eva Fox of Bluffton, Ind., Thelma Cogar of
Fremont and Bertha Feasel of Tiffin.
His wife, Beverly, a son, Shawn,

19, 1988.

She was preceded in death by

He was born Dec. 31, 1939, in Vinton
County, Ohio, to the late Elmer and Alice (Knapper) Wiseman.
On Nov. 9, 1973, he married Mary L. Stearns, who survives.

Cooper West, 81, of McDougal St.,
Fostoria, died at 1:32 a.m. Wednesday, November 8, 2000 at Providence
Hospital in Sandusky. He was born to Warner and Edith (Cooper)
West. On Jan. 13, 1961 he married Harriet G. Anderson, she preceded
him in death.
Survivors include: four sons, David
West of Taunton, Mass, Mark West of Tiffin, Wayne West of Blaine,
and Ronald West; two daughters, Donna West of Newsymera, Fl.,
and Michelle West of Wintersville.
Mr. West was a 1938 graduate of
Parker High School in Dayton. A U.S. Navy Veteran serving in
WW II and the Korean War, he retired in 1972 from the U.S. Navy
as a Chief Petty Officer where he worked as an electronics Technician
with 30 years of service. He retired in 1982 as General Foreman
at Hayes Albion in Tiffin. He attended the First Church of the
Nazarene in Fostoria. Memberships included: Life member and
Past Commander of VFW Post 421; Past Commander American Legion
Post 73; Life member of Disabled American Veteran; Am VETS Post
69 and the Eagles Club, all of Fostoria, and the Tiffin Elk's
Lodge.
There are no funeral services or
visitation plans. Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery
in Arlington, Virginia.
Arrangements are being handled
by the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home.

Raynond J. "Ray"
Atlas Crankshaft retiree
Raymond J. "Ray" Weaver, 73, of
414 West St., Carey, died at 11:51 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 18, 2000,
in the Emergency Room at Wyandot Memorial Hospital, Upper Sandusky.
He was born June 22, 1927, in Crawford
Township, Wyandot County, to William and Sophia (Landers) Weaver.
His wife, Joann (Gase) Weaver, whom he married Oct. 4, 1950,
in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Tiffin, survives.
Other survivors include: six sons,
Father Mark Weaver of El Salvador, Paul A. and John Weaver,
both of Carey, James Weaver of Tiffin, Patrick Weaver of Findlay
and Joseph Weaver, also of Carey; six daughters, Mrs. Ronald
(Ann) Zoeller of Kansas,Ohio, Mrs. Greg (Jean) Patton of Carey,
Mrs. David (Mary) Burget of Findlay, Mrs. Emery (Joan) Calloway
of Upper Sandusky, Mrs. Lee (Jane) Mathias and Mrs. Alan (Lois)
Taylor, also both of Carey; 37 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren;
and a sister, Mrs. Catherine Vrana of Akron.
A sister, Dorothy Weaver, also
is deceased.
Mr. Weaver retired in 1988 from
the Atlas Crankshaft in Fostoria. He also was the owner of Weaver
Radio for more than 30 years. His CB radio handle name was 'Charlie
Weaver.'
A 1945 graduate of Carey High School,
he was a member of the Basilica of Our Lady of Consolation Catholic
Church, Carey; Carey Knights of Columbus, where he served as
past and present grand knight; 4th degree member Archbishop
Schrembs Assembly in Tiffin; served as district deputy of 54th
District of Knights of Columbus and was a member of K of C's
3rd Degree team.
A Mass of Christian Burial will
be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Basilica of Our Lady of Consolation
Catholic Church, with Father Mark Weaver as celebrant. Interment
will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Carey.
Visitation will be 2-5 and 6-9
p.m. Tuesday in the Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, Carey, where
the 4th Degree will stand honor guard 7-9 p.m. The rosary will
be recited at 2 p.m., a Christian scripture service will be
at 8:30 p.m. followed by K of C services Tuesday at the funeral
home.

Vance,
Chester
WADSWORTH -- Burial with military honors for Chester
L. Vance, 70, a resident of Altercare of Wadsworth, and
formerly of Findlay, was held Nov. 27 in Ohio Western Reserve
National Cemetery.
Mr. Vance died Wednesday, Nov.
22, 2000 at the nursing home.
He was born Sept. 21, 1930 in
Holden, W.Va. to James and Etta Vance.
Surviving are a son, Tim of Crystal
Beach, Fla.; a daughter, Belinda Detweiler, Uniontown; five
grandchildren; a sister, Lucille Elliot, in Hawaii; and four
brothers, Charles and Roy, both in Florida; and James and
Clyde, both in Arizona.
Mr. Vance had worked at Union
Carbide, Fostoria.
He was a member of Church of
God, Findlay
He served in the U.S. Navy during
the Korean War.

Yockey,
James
James C. Yockey, 67, of 1732 Queenswood
Drive, died at 10:07 a.m. Monday, Dec. 18, 2000 at Fremont Memorial
Hospital.
He was born June 12, 1933 in Findlay
to Emil and Ruth (Cole) Yockey.
Surviving are a son, Andrew "Andy"
of Highlands Ranch, Colo.; two stepdaughters, Patty Kuntz, Findlay;
Mrs. Renee (Peggy) Gothke, Whitehouse; nine grandchildren; and
a brother, Layton E. of Toledo.
Mr. Yockey was a computer programmer.
He retired from Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. after 33 years, and
was a former co-owner of both Yock's and Carriage House.
He served in the U.S. Air Force
from 1951-55.
Mr. Yockey was of the Methodist
faith. He was a member of AMVETS Post 21. Funeral services will
be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Coldren-Crates Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Fountain Cemetery, Fostoria, where military
rites will be conducted by Hancock County Veterans Memorial
Squad.
Visitation will be held from 2-4
and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be

Wright,
Clyde L. "Red"
C & O Railroad retiree
Clyde L. "Red" Wright, 77, of 1087
S. Poplar St., Fostoria, died at 12:15 a.m. Wednesday, Dec.
20, 2000, in Fostoria Community Hospital.
He was born Oct. 4, 1923, in Bloomdale,
to Ivan Lee and Lillie (Rosendale) Wright. On Aug. 25, 1950,
in St. Patrick's Cathedral, New York City, N.Y., he married
Ann Weaver, who survives in Fostoria.
Survivors also include: a son,
James L. Wright of Fostoria; three brothers, Joe Wright of Fostoria,
Charles Wright of Carey and David Wright of Michigan; a sister,
Bernie Salisbury of Findlay; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A brother, Stanley "Ted" Wright,
also is deceased.
Mr. Wright, a 1941 graduate of
Bloomdale High School, was employed as a car man for the C &
O Railroad in Fostoria for 45 years, retiring in 1983.
He served in the U.S. Navy during
World War II.
There will be no service or visitation.

Wilcox,
Nicole
POWELL -- Funeral services for
Nicole Marie Wilcox, 34, of Powell, and formerly of Fostoria,
will be held at 11 a.m. today at Schoedinger Funeral Home, Worthington,
the Rev. Robert Wiley officiating. Burial will be at a later
date.
Mrs. Wilcox died of natural causes
Friday, Dec. 22, 2000 at Grant Hospital, Columbus.
She was born Oct. 31, 1966 in Fostoria
to David and Jacquie (Marshall) Moore, and they survive in Fostoria.
She married Randy L. Wilcox on Sept. 12, 1998 in Westerville,
and he survives.
Also surviving are a daughter,
Riley Marie Wilcox, at home; a sister, Danielle Moore, Columbus;
two grandmothers, Beatrice Marshall, Fostoria; and Glady Moore,
Fort Myers, Fla.
Mrs. Wilcox was a sales assistant
for Donald R. Kenney and Co. Realtors.
She graduated from Salisbury State
University with a bachelor's degree in education. She was a
member of Columbus Board of Realtors.
