Perkins Arden
Arden M. Perkins, 70 Atlanta, Ga., formerly of Fostoria, died Jan 5, 2000 She was born Dec.13, 1929 in Seneca County to William and Loraine (Cline) Lockart. She married Jack Perkins and he survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Shawn Perkins and Paige Price, both of Atlanta, Ga.; a sister, Karen Purser , San Francisco, Calif., and two grandchildren. Mrs. Perkins retired in 1994 as a procurement officer for the Centers for Disease Control. A memorial service will be 3 p.m. today at H.M. Patterson and Sons Oglethorpe Hill Chapel 4550 Peachtree Road N. E. Atlanta Ga. 30319. Visitation will be one hour prior to service at the chapel. Memorials may be made to the American cancer Society.
Betty J. Peterson, 83, of Judson Palmer Home, 2911 N. Main St., died at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2000 at Blanchard Valley Regional Health Center. She was born April 16, 1916 in Hancock County to George C. and Gail (Swisher) Romick. She married John C. Gary, and they divorced. She then married Albert R. Peterson, and he died March 18, 1994. Survivors include two sons, George M. Gary, Fostoria; Terry D. Gary, Findlay; a stepson, David Peterson of Texas; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Elmer (Mary Jane) Brooker, Findlay; nine grandchildren; 15 stepgrandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 12 stepgreat-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and three stepgreat-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a grandchild; and two brothers, Rex and Robert Romick. Mrs. Peterson was a former waitress who worked in Lima and McComb. She was a Liberty-Benton High School graduate and was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, the Rev. Gregory W. Creech officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 7-9 p.m. today at Coldren-Crates Funeral Home, and an hour before services Friday at the church. Florence E. Florence E. Risser-Stepp, 87, of 11890 W. TR 35, Fostoria, died at 12:15 p.m. Friday, Feb. 18, 2000, at Independence House, Fostoria. She was born in Fostoria Feb. 11, 1913, to Frederick and Myrtle Rainey. She first married Beryl Risser Sept. 27, 1931. He died Dec. 4, 1978. She married Arlie Stepp Jan 1, 1981. He died in December 1992. Survivors include: four daughters, Mrs. William (Beryl "Lee") Brown of Fostoria, Mrs. Duane (Joyce) Davis of Greentown, Ind., Mrs. Robert (Elizabeth "Betty") Galloway of Union City, Mich., and Mrs. Neil (Claire "Elaine") Hossler of Fostoria; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Harold Rainey of Arcadia and Charles Rainey of Elyria; three sisters, Clara Eatherton and Hazel Shook of Florida, and Mary Nunguester of Arlington. Two brothers, Roy and Cecil Rainey, and a sister, Mabel Rainey are deceased. She was the former owner of Risser-Hossler Insurance Agency in Fostoria; a homemaker; and a member of the Maranatha Baptist Church in Sebring, Fla. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Hoening Funeral Home, Fostoria, with the Pastor Robert Chew officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Memorial Gardens, Avon Park, Fla. Marie Eva Marie Predmore, 71, of 409 High St., Carey, died at 7:15 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 20, 2000, in Blanchard Valley Regional Health Center, Findlay. She was born in Wharton, April 15, 1928, to Allen A. and Fairy (Howard) Baker. Her first husband, Russell P. Chester, is deceased. She later married Ronald M. Roynon and they were divorced. On Jan. 30, 1954, in Angola, Ind., she married Donald N. Predmore, who survives. Survivors also include: two sons, Russell P. Chester of Mt. Blanchard and Casey Roynon of Carey; three daughters, Mrs. Roger (Cheryl) Hayward of Curtice, Mrs. Larry (Vickie) Myers and and Mrs. Jim (Jackie) Ritter, both of Carey; a step-son, Mark Turner of Rowlette, Texas; a step-daughter, Ms. Darla Turner of Springfield, Mo.; 14 grandchildren; four brothers, Wayne and Frank Baker, both of Wharton, Chuck Baker of Mira Loma, Calif. and David Baker of Andrew, Texas; four sisters, Kathryn Chester of Sycamore, Gail McKelvey of Fostoria and Judy Wood and Jane Ogg, both of Carey. Two brothers, John and Frederick Baker, also are deceased. Mrs. Predmore, the former owner of My Place Restaurant in Carey, was a member of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, Carey. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Paul E. DeMoss and Vicar Patty Heath officiating. Burial will be in Spring Grove Cemetery, Carey. M. Oleta M. Peiffer, 75, of Tiffin, died at 5:20 p.m. Monday, Feb. 21, 2000, in the Autumnwood Care Center. She was born in New Riegel, June 17, 1924, to Rubert and Stella (Scherger) Schultz. On Sept. 2, 1944, in St. Boniface Catholic Church, New Riegel, she married Wilfred E. Peiffer, who died Dec. 26, 1981. Survivors include: a son, Larry E. Peiffer of Fostoria; a daughter, Mrs. Gary (Elaine S.) Smith of New Riegel; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Mrs. Lucille Hickman and Mrs. Leonard (Eileen) Brickner, both of Fostoria, and Mrs. Francis (Susie) Lucius of New Riegel. A brother, Rubert Schultz Jr., is deceased. A homemaker, Mrs. Peiffer was a member of St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in St. Wendelin Catholic Church, where the rosary will be recited at 10 a.m. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Rasey, Harold
G. Harold Glenn Rasey, 86, of Loveland, Colo., died Thursday, March 9, 2000, in Poudre Valley Hospital, Fort Collins, Colo. He was born Aug. 19, 1913, in Fostoria, to Benjamin H. and Winifred (Kramer) Rasey. On Aug. 3, 1940, in Seneca County, he married Louise Burns. She survives. Other survivors include: a son, Howard L. Rasey of Loveland; a daughter, Mrs. William E. (Virginia M.) Hammons of Loveland; two grandchildren and a great-grandson; four nephews and a niece. He also was preceded in death by a sister, Thelma McClellan. Mr. Rasey, a U.S. Army Air Force veteran, serving 1942-45 in the European Theatre during World War II, worked 1957-78 as a machinist at Coors Porcelain Ceramics in Golden, Colo . He lived in Denver, Colo., 1957-79, before moving to Loveland. A member of the Loveland VFW Post 41 and St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, he enjoyed woodworking, fishing, camping, playing cards and polka music. A funeral Mass was Monday in St. John's Catholic Church, with the Rev. Joseph Hartmann as celebrant. Burial was in Resthaven Memory Gardens, north of Loveland. FOSTORIA -- Funeral services for Lizzie Robinson, 97, a resident of St. Catherine's Care Center, Fostoria, and formerly of Webster County, West Virginia, were held Sunday at Dodd & Reed Funeral Home, Webster Springs, W.Va., the Rev. Minter Lynch officiating. Burial was in Crouse-Clifton Cemetery, Webster Springs. Mrs. Robinson died at 12:12 a.m. Thursday, March 23, 2000 at Fostoria Community Hospital. She was born Sept. 27, 1902 in Holly River, W.Va. to Columbus C. and Elizabeth (Fisher) Cool. She married Johnny E. Robinson, who preceded her in death. Surviving are three sons, Charles, Delbert and Monroe, all of Fostoria; a daughter, Sarah Jane Humphrey; and numerous grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Robinson; two infant children; three sisters; and five brothers. Mrs. Robinson was a homemaker. She was a member of Sand Lick Primitive Baptist Church, Webster Springs. Local arrangements were handled by Mann-Hare Funeral Home, Fostoria.

Mr. Rader died at 4 p.m. Wednesday, March 29, 2000 at his residence. He was born Feb. 17, 1916 in McComb to Harold "Bud" and Ethel (Thompson) Rader. He married Betty Trumpy on Dec. 24, 1937 in Napoleon, and she survives. Other survivors include two sons, Arden of Lima; Floyd of Fostoria; a daughter, Mrs. Jerry (Sue) Smith, McComb; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a brother, Noble of McComb; and four sisters, Mrs. Ralph (Betty) Edie, Rowena McDougle and Mrs. John (Jean) Houston, all of Findlay; and Marguerite Harshberger, McComb. Mr. Rader worked at Buckeye Traction in Findlay from 1940-1952. He was then employed by Operating Engineers Local 18, Toledo, for 30 years. Mrs. Renteria died at 7:35 a.m. Monday, May 1, 2000 at her residence. She was born May 18, 1920 in Linares, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, to Fructoso and Manuela (Reyes) Cardenas. She married Miguel Renteria Sr. on June 1, 1942 in Mexico, and he died Sept. 2, 1992. Survivors include five sons, Rafael of Progreso, Texas; Joe of Fostoria; Armando and Mike, both of Ropesville, Texas; and Frank of Mission, Texas; five daughters, Mrs. Frank (Yolanda) Cortez and Mrs. Alfredo (Maria Elisa) Perez, both of Fostoria; Guadalupe Renteria, Forestburg, Texas; Mrs. Pedro (Amalia) Gonzalez, Relampago, Texas; and Mrs. Juan (Aurora) Lopez, Lawrenceville, Ga.; 37 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Juanita Sepulveda and Elmina Nacianceno, both of Linares, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. SR 18, Tiffin, died at 5:14 a.m., Thursday, May 4, 2000 at Tiffin Mercy Hospital. She was born Feb. 23, 1914 in Tiffin to Pius and Lucy (Arendt) Warnement. On Sept. 26, 1940 she married John W. Ring at St. Mary Catholic Church, Tiffin, he died Feb. 27, 1991. Surviving are: seven sons, Thomas Ring of Tiffin, Richard Ring of Findlay, The Rev. She was born in Fostoria, Oct. 16, 1921, to Albert and Mary Anna (Barns) Piotter. A sister, Betty Piotter of Fostoria, survives. Preceding her in death were: two daughters, Sandra K. Smith and Karen Rickle; two brothers, Albert J. and Ernest E. Piotter; and a sister, Violet Mullholand. Mrs. Rickle, a 1940 graduate of Fostoria High School, retired in 1983 from General Electric, after 36 years of service. Amy L. Robinson-Haning, 31, of TR 63, Fostoria, died at 7 p.m. Sunday, May 14, 2000, in St. Catherine's Care Center, Fostoria. She was born May 30, 1968, in Fostoria, to Delbert and Ethel (Eddinger) Robinson. Her father survives in Pemberville. Her husband, Charles S. Haning, whom she married Oct. 4, 1997, in Risingsun, survives in Fostoria. Survivors also include: two brothers, Chris and Eric Robinson, and two sisters, Terri Scott and Dixie Robinson, all of Fostoria. Her mother and a sister, Sandra Myers, are deceased. Marie Runion Marilyn Marie Runion, 61, of 1527 E. Main Cross St., Findlay, died at 9:07 p.m. Monday, May 22, 2000, in Blanchard Valley Regional Health Center, Findlay. She was born in Tiffin, Jan. 27, 1939, to the late Roy and Wanda (Orians) Mathias. On May 9, 1961, in Fostoria, she married Jack E. Runion, who survives in Findlay. Other survivors include: three sons, Leslie J. Mathias of Hampton, Va. and Todd C. and Timothy M. Runion, both of Fostoria; three daughters, Mrs. Rob (Roxann) Bilger of Houston, Texas, Mrs. Mark (Maria M.) Lawarre of Findlay and Mrs. Randy (Jackie) Emans of Bowling Green; 10 grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. John (Carol June) Coleman of Clifton, Va. and Mrs. Robert (Donna R.) J. Wilbert J. "Bill" Piper, 83, formerly of 45 Hopewell Ave., died at 4:15 a.m. Sunday, July 16, 2000, in the Ruffing Family Care Center. He was born Jan. 25, 1917, in Fostoria, to James W. and Ruth (Padgham) Piper. His wife, Agnes C. (Elchert) Piper, whom he married May 3, 1941, in New Riegel, died Oct. 19, 1993. Surviving are a son, Donald J. Piper of New Riegel; two daughters, Mrs. Lester (Eloise) Arbogast of Carey and Mrs. David (Karen) Brown of Tiffin; a brother, Norman Piper of Fostoria; a sister, Winnie Morris of Tiffin; nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren. Three brothers, six sisters and a grandson, also are deceased. Mr. Piper, a 1936 graduate of Fostoria High School, had been employed as a planer operator at the National Machinery. A World War II U.S. Army veteran, he was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, American Legion Post 354, New Riegel; the National Machinery Quarter Century Club and the Polka Boosters. Theodore O. Jr. Theodore O. Rinehart,Jr., 67, of Elmhurst Drive, Fostoria, died at 7:30 a.m. Friday, July 21, 2000, at Independence House in Fostoria. He was born March 27, 1933, in Fostoria to Theodore and Ruth (Cook) Rinehart Sr. He married Carole M. Lanning June 22, 1952, in Fostoria. She survives in Fostoria. Other survivors include: two sons, David of Duluth, Ga., and Larry of Fostoria; four daughters, Terry Lucius, Mrs. Art (Linda) Cuellar, Mrs. Brad (Pam) Echelberry and Mrs. John (Lisa) Davoli, all of Fostoria; 14 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three sisters, Betty Jones of Fostoria, Mrs. Raymond (Donna) Tong of Carey and Kay Davis of Virginia Beach, Va. His parents, a brother and three grandchildren preceded him in death. He was a 1951 graduate of Fostoria High School; a machine salesman and worked at Atlas Crankshaft in Fostoria for 20 years. He became owner and operator of Edgewater Machine Sales, from which he retired in 1997; was a member of Fostoria Lodge 935 BPOE; an avid fisherman and golfer; and a former club champion at Loudon Meadows Golf Course in Fostoria. CYGNET -- Norman E. Rickard, 66, of 143 Clarion St., Cygnet, died at 7 a.m. Friday, Aug. 11, 2000 at his residence. He was born June 6, 1934 in Cygnet to Benjamin and Helen (Kiger) Rickard. He married Edith M. Heckman on Feb. 21, 1970, and she survives. Survivors also include three sons, Carl Anderson, Wayne; Robert Anderson, Bloomdale; and Norman Rickard Jr., Cygnet; four daughters, Melva Anderson and Donna Lindsay, both of Fostoria; Brenda Hatcher, Cygnet; and Norma Ramsey, Wayne; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Dorothy Cotterman, Cygnet; and a brother, Richard of Fostoria. He was preceded in death by a grandson; and two sisters, Loraine VanScoter and Patricia Krassow. Mr. Rickard was a retired truck driver and had worked for Bloom Township in Wood County for many years. She was born March 25, 1913, to Willey Porter and Mary Ethel (Clark) Truitt. On July 22, 1940, she married Orylen A. Richendollar. He died Aug. 6, 1997. Surviving are a son, Donald A. Richendollar of St. Petersburg, Fla.; two daughters, Mrs. Carolyn Fox of Van Buren and Mrs. Donna Dunnett of Spring Hill, Fla.; five grandchildren and a great-grandchild. Preceding her in death were a brother, Dennis Truitt, and a sister, Lola Ray. Mrs. Richendollar was an assembler for Crowell Colliers Publishers Plant in Springfield, Ohio; she also worked for Ford Motor Co./Allied Signal (now Honeywell) in Fostoria, retiring in 1955. She was a member of the United Brethren Church of Jerry City. The Rev. Ben Lowell will officiate the 10 a.m. Saturday service at the Mann-Hare Funeral Home, Fostoria. Carl L. Carl L. Reynolds, 87, of Elyria, formerly of Attica, Republic and Fostoria, died Friday, Aug. 18, 2000, in the Life Care Center of Elyria. He was born Oct. 9, 1912, in Bowling Green, to Frank and Mary Ann (Ernsberger) Reynolds. In February 1943, he married Betsy Ann Mohr, who preceded him in death Sept. 25, 1975. Survivors include: two sons, Donald Lee Reynolds of Napoleon and Douglas Franklin Reynolds of Cortland; a daughter, Lillian Mitchell of Lorain; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Neva Burns of Mansfield. Also preceding him in death were two sisters, Carrie and Dorothy; and a brother, Lloyd. Mr. Reynolds, a 1934 graduate of what is now Bowling Green State University, was employed as a teacher for 22 years; 16 years at Lakota Middle School and as principal of Rollersville School for four years. James T. Sr. James T. Pence Sr., 57, of SR 12, Burgoon, died at 12:40 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 24, 2000, at Fisher-Titus Medical Center in Norwalk. He was born April 28, 1943, in Fostoria to Henry and Ruth (Groves) Pence, who are deceased. On June 19, 1965, he married Emma L. Robertson. She survives. Others survivors include: three sons, Dennis T. and Steven T. Pence, both of Burgoon, and James T. Pence of Port Clinton; three daughters, Deborah Sephar of North Carolina, Irene Miller of Elmore and Peggy Cashen of Walbridge; two sisters, Sharon Brewer of Fostoria and Melissa Greer of Port Clinton; and three grandchildren. Charles E. Charles E. Plott, 60, died at 3:55 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 27, 2000, at his home at 15636 Thornwood Drive, Findlay. He was born June 17, 1940, in Carey, to the late Chester and Louise (Potteiger) Plott. His first wife, Jeanne E. (Davis) Plott, whom he married Nov. 3, 1962, died Dec. 9, 1986. He later married Mary Lou Lease on Aug. 18, 1990. She survives. Other survivors include: a son, Joel R. Dorothy L. Dorothy L. Roby, 81, 26 Northwood Drive, died at 5:05 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2000, in Mercy Hospital of Tiffin. She was born Dec. 10, 1918, in Benton, Ohio, to Arthur and Edith (Raudebaugh) Hushour. Her husband, Paul W. Roby, whom she married Sept. 14, 1940, in the Second Reformed Church, Tiffin, died Nov. 10, 1989. Surviving are: two sons, William "Bill" and Ronald C. Roby, both of Tiffin; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and four sisters, Mrs. Ora (Evelyn) Eyer of Sycamore, Mrs. Clarence (Ruth) Dunlap of Bloomville, Mrs. Doyle (Bernice) Dillon and Mrs. Donovan (Shirley) Coppus, both of Fostoria. Two brothers, Charles and Earl Hushour, are deceased. Mrs. Roby, a 1936 graduate of Melmore High School, retired after working 25 years at the Seneca County Agriculture Stabilization and Conservation Office. "Sam" Sebastian Sebastian "Sam" Russo, 81, of 833 Belaire Drive, Bellevue, formerly of Fostoria, died Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2000, in the Medical College of Ohio Hospital, Toledo. He was born July 24, 1919, in Ashtabula, to John and Antoinette (Pomari) Russo. On Feb. 14, 1987, in Bellevue, he married Wilma Church. She survives in Bellevue. Survivors also include: two sons, Sam Worrell of Lakewood, Fla., and David Russo of Port Orange, Fla.; two daughters, Antoinette Haskin of Westfield, N.Y., and Debbie Russo of Buffalo, N.Y.; a stepson, David Weaver of Celina; a stepdaughter, Laura Lilburn of Miami, Fla.; 10 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and three sisters, Josephine Cali of San Jose, Calif., Jennie Parlato of New Hartford, N.Y., and Antoinette Swart of Mechanicsburg, Md. She was born May 7, 1921, in Elyria, to Benjamin and Edith (Beck) Varsey. On Nov. 14, 1941, in Elyria, she married Robert R. Rice, who died Aug. 6, 1999. Survivors include: a son, Jeffrey L. Johnnie Earl Former Fostoria resident, Johnnie Earl Prenzlin, 82, of 306 Midway Drive, Chadbourn, N.C., died Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2000, in the Veteran's Hospital, Fayetteville, N.C. He was born Nov. 14, 1917, to Johnnie R. and Clara (Schutz) Prenzlin. His wife, Mildred A. (Hark) Prenzlin, whom he married Aug. 23, 1947, in Fostoria, survives in Chadbourn. Other survivors include: a son, William E. Prenzlin of Fredericktown; three daughters, Julia A. Lewis of Ft. Pierce, Fla., Janette M. Crawford and Barbara E. Robinson, both of Chadbourn; two brothers, Robert E. Prenzlin of Fostoria and Carl E. Prenzlin of Findlay; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Also preceding him in death were two brothers, Wayne and Warren Prenzlin; and two sisters, Zenith Flagg and Etta Myers. Mr. Prenzlin, a World War II U.S. Army veteran, retired in 1978 from the Norfolk and Western Railroad. He was a long time member of Fostoria Moose Lodge 1567, where he served in numerous offices and once was named "Moose of the Year." She was born Aug. 20, 1909 in Fostoria to William and Hermina (Kinney) Finsel. She married Ralph H. Rumschlag on Aug. 20, 1935 at St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria, and he died in January 1980. Survivors include two sons, Ronald W. of New Riegel; and Bernard J. of Tiffin; a daughter, Mrs. Cletus (Susann M.) Reinhart, New Riegel; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Harold Finsel, Tiffin; and Wilbur Finsel, Fostoria; and a sister, Mrs. Ed (Dorothy) Weinshank, Noblesville, Ind. She was preceded in death by a son, Leonard G.; and three brothers, Norbert, Richard and Delbert Finsel. Mrs. Rumschlag was a homemaker. She was a 1927 St. Wendelin High School graduate. She was a member of St. Wendelin Catholic Church and its Rosary Alter Society; Daughters of Isabella; and a former member of St. Boniface Church, New Riegel. Mr. Ramsey died at 5:43 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 18, 2000 at Blanchard Valley Regional Health Center. He was born Jan. 7, 1942 in Camden, N.J. to Raymond F. and Vivian (Overdorf) Ramsey Sr. He married Dawn D. Menerey on May 6, 1978, and she survives. Also surviving are a son, Ray Garrett, at home; three daughters, Tiffany D. Ramsey, Stephenville, Texas; Brittany J. and Catelen M., both at home; and a brother, James F. of Elyria. Mr. Ramsey was a licensed social worker and formerly employed at Group Homes in Findlay. He also had been a coordinator of prison programs and trainer and field supervisor for criminal justice and sociology programs for Bluffton College. He was president of Ray Ramsey and Associated, Findlay, a speaking, training and consulting firm. Mr. Ramsey was program director and staff training supervisor for Group Homes and director of Independence House, Fostoria. He was founder and director of the Crusader's Youth Center and the Center for New Directions. He was a consultant to the National Institute on Drug Abuse. He was a trainer and consultant to many human service agencies, juvenile courts, community-based corrections faculties and criminal justice task forces for more than 25 years. He had been an assistant football coach for Liberty Benton High School, and was a teacher and presenter for the Ohio Association of Child Caring Agencies. Mr. Ramsey was a teacher and lecturer at Bowling Green State University, University of Findlay, and Bluffton and Owens Community colleges. He was awarded the Distinguished Service Award from the Fostoria Jaycees, Outstanding Young Man in Ohio by the Ohio Jaycees, Book of Good Deeds Awards by the National Exchange Club and given the Key to the City of Fostoria. Mr. Ramsey attended DeVillbiss High School in Toledo; Ohio State University; Oakland Community College in Pontiac, Mich.; and Institute for Reality Therapy in Los Angeles, Calif., where he became a certified reality therapist and licensed social worker. He played football for DeVillbiss High School, the Hurricanes at the Ohio Penitentiary, and Crusaders semi-pro team from Fostoria. He played on the 1980 state champion Sur Save Fastpitch Softball team, as well as district and regional championship fastpitch softball teams for 36 years. Mr. Ramsey played on championship teams for racquetball, handball, basketball and track; and was a Gold Glove boxer. He was a member and public relations officer of Ohio High School Rodeo Board. Jolliff, Dunkirk; two stepdaughters, Mrs. James (Betty) Small, Zanesfield; and Mrs. Tom (Carol) Spain, Bellefontaine; 32 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Earl D. Pelton on Oct. 10, 1942 in Fostoria, and she died Aug. 21, 1994. He later married Hazel G. Coppler on Nov. 11, 2000 at St. Wendelin Catholic Church in Fostoria, and she survives. Also surviving are a son, David M. of Toledo; and a grandchild. He was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy L. Dennis. Mr. Rowles was a 44-year employee of Society Bank (now KeyBank) in Fostoria, retiring in 1985 as vice president. He also had written for the Fostoria Focus under the pen name L.J. Selwor. He served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II. He was a 1939 graduate of Fostoria High School. He was active in the Fostoria Glass Gallery.
