Morningside Drive, Fostoria, died at 12:10 p.m. Friday, Jan.
14, 2000, in the St. Catherine's Care Center, Fostoria.
He was born Aug. 9, 1915, to Karl
and Imo (Misamore) Hosafros. He married Nieta Shirk Nov. 16,
1939, at Wesley United Methodist Church in Fostoria. She survives
in Fostoria along with a son, Edward A. of Paragould, Ark.;
a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Claudia) Wolf of Sedalia, Mo.; three
grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and a sister, Mrs. Ruth Clark
of Carey.
He was preceded in death by a brother,
James.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Air
Force; a purchasing agent at Union Carbide (now National Electric
Carbon) in Fostoria for 40 years, retiring in 1980; an active
member of Boy Scouts, Meals on Wheels Program, Junior Achievement
and Wesley United Methodist Church.
A memorial celebration will be
at 11 a.m. Monday at the Wesley United Methodist Church, Fostoria,
with the Rev. Branson J. Hawkes officiating.
The family will receive friends
immediately following the services for a luncheon and gathering
in fellowship at the church.

Dorothy J. House, 85, formerly
of Wayne, died at 2 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 30, 2000, in Toledo.
She was born Jan. 13, 1915, in
Middleport, to Charles E. and Edna (Folden) Rathburn. She first
married, Donald R. Whitington, and they were divorced. Her second
husband, Kenneth N. House, preceded her in death Feb. 25, 1992.
Surviving are three daughters,
Mrs. Gary (Mary) Campbell of Weston, Mrs. James (Nancy) Woessner
of Fostoria and Mrs. Von (Sharon) Hoiles of Temperance, Mich.;
11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death were
a daughter, Rosalind A. Doyle; a granddaughter, Anne M. Woessner;
nine brothers, Amos, Allen, Frank, Martin, Arnold, Rex, Robert,
Regnald and Pearl Rathburn; and six sisters, including two who
died in infancy and Doris Buckingham, Norma Rochester, Pat Holman
and Clara Robenalt.
Mrs. House, a homemaker, also had
been employed at the former Kresge store in Fostoria and as
a nurses's aide at the Wood County Hospital, Bowling Green.
A 1936 graduate of Fostoria High
School, she was a member of Mt. Zion United Brethren Church,
Wayne.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m.
Wednesday in the Hoening Funeral Home, Fostoria, with the Rev.
Howard Munn officiating. Burial will be in Fountain Cemetery,
Fostoria.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Tuesday
and one hour before the service Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to a charity

Former Fostoria councilman
FOSTORIA -- Dale LeRoy Helms, 61,
of Hissong Avenue, Fostoria, died at 5:10 a.m. Monday, Jan.
31, 2000, at his residence.
He was born Jan. 30, 1939 in Fostoria
to Dale and Reva (Yates) Helms. He married Patricia M. Kinworthy,
and they were divorced. He then married Edith J. Sperry on July
20, 1979 in Fostoria, and she survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Kipper
of Fostoria; Chad L. of Bascom; a stepson, Mitchell Lee Randol,
Green Springs; a daughter, Jody Thompson-Jernigan, Fostoria;
a stepdaughter, Remona Jane Pennycuff, Fostoria; two brothers,
Gary and John Berrier, both of Fostoria; a sister, Jacqueline
Miller, Fostoria; and 13 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a grandson.
Mr. Helms retired in 1999 as Fostoria
zoning inspector, a post he had held since 1996. He also served
on Fostoria City Council from 1992-1995.
He retired in 1991 after 30 years
of employment at Atlas Crankshaft Co. He was a U.S. Navy veteran.
He was a member of Fostoria United
Sportsman's Club and Fostoria American Legion.
Funeral services will be held at
1 p.m. Wednesday at Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home, Fostoria.
Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, West Millgrove.
Visitation will be held from 2-4
and 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

FOSTORIA -- Funeral services for
O. Fred Hedden, 83, of North Township Road 105, Kansas, will
be held at 10:30 a.m. today at Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home,
Fostoria, the Rev. Gwen Sandstrom officiating. Burial will be
in Kansas Cemetery.
Visitation was held Monday at the
funeral home.
Mr. Hedden died at 6:25 p.m. Saturday,
Feb. 5, 2000 at the Good Shepherd Home, Fostoria.
He was born Feb. 20, 1916 near
Kansas to Phillip E. and Maude D. (Humbert) Hedden. He married
Mae Valenti on Oct. 20, 1940 in Defiance and she died Feb. 6,
1996.
Surviving are a son, Ron of Fostoria;
a daughter, Mrs. Dennis (Cindy) Korb, Fremont; six grandchildren;
eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Paul of Columbus; Lawrence
of Tiffin; and two sisters, Helen Yoder, Fostoria; Pauline Pasch,
Fremont.
He was preceded in death by a brother,
Harold, and two sisters, Leha Niemoto and Susan Gee.
Mr. Hedden worked for Pfizer Company,
Gibsonburg, for 30 years before retiring in 1978.
He was a member of the Fostoria
American Legion Post 73. He served in the U.S. Army during World
War II.

Retired maintenance man
Leon Hendryckx, 80, of 607 N. Main
St., Bloomdale, died at 1 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 6, 2000, in the
Blakely Care Center, North Baltimore.
He was born Jan. 6, 1920, in North
Baltimore, to Charles and Marie (Sabbe) Hendryckx. On Nov. 16,
1944, in Bloomdale, he married Bernadine R. Slotterbeck, who
survives in Bloomdale.
Survivors also include: a daughter,
Mrs. Richard (Diana) Sexton of Columbus; a granddaughter and
a grandson.
He was preceded in death by a brother,
Fred Hendryckx.
Mr. Hendryckx, who had farmed until
1960, worked at the A&P Co. of Bloomdale until 1977. He also
worked in maintenance at the Hancock County Home September 1977-1982,
when he retired.
A World War II U.S. Navy veteran,
he also worked part time at Precision Carbide in Bloomdale and
did plumbing in the Bloomdale area.
He was a member of Trinity United
Methodist Church, the Bloomdale Senior Citizens and the Knights
of Pythias, all of Bloomdale.
The Rev. Neil Foster will be the
officiant at the 10:30 a.m. Wednesday service in the Mann-Hare
Funeral Home, Fostoria. Interment will be in Weaver Cemetery,
Bloom Township, where military graveside rites will be conducted
by the United Veterans of Fostoria.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8
p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

NORTH BALTIMORE -- Harold E. Johnson,
80, of 611 E. Broadway St., North Baltimore, died at 7:58 a.m.
Sunday, Feb. 20, 2000 at the Blakely Care Center, North Baltimore.
He was born Nov. 1, 1919 in Michigan
to Irvin and Ruth (Reed) Johnson.
Surviving are two sons, Thomas
of Warren; Kent of Great Falls, Va.; two daughters, Edythe Pelton,
North Baltimore; Mrs. Ralph (Anita) Sharninghouse, Orlando,
Fla.; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters,
Mrs. Don (Jean) Overmeyer, Lindsay; Viola McElroy, Roanoke,
Va.
He was preceded in death by two
brothers, Wayne and Lionel.
Mr. Johnson worked as a set-up
man at Ford Bendix, formerly Autolite, in Fostoria.
He served in the U.S. Army during
World War II in the European-African Campaign.
He was a member of the North Baltimore
American Legion Post 539 and St. James United Methodist Church,
North Baltimore. He was also a volunteer for the North Baltimore
Senior Center Meals on Wheels program.
Funeral services will be held at
11 a.m. Thursday at Smith-Crates Funeral Home, North Baltimore,
the Rev. Tim Coppock officiating. Burial will be in New Maplewood
Cemetery, North Baltimore, where graveside military rites will
be conducted by the North Baltimore American Legion Post 539.

Lavera Ann Hollenbaugh, 93, died
at 2:15 p.m. Wednesday, March 1, 2000, in the Independence House,
1000 Independence Ave., Fostoria, where she resided.
She was born Jan. 6, 1907, in Fostoria,
to William and Ada (Bullock) McClellan. Her husband, Kenneth
M. Hollenbaugh, whom she married in July 1927, in the United
Brethren Church, Fostoria, died in 1978.
Surviving are a son, Kenneth M.
Hollenbaugh of Boise, Idaho; a daughter, Marjorie Ann Munoz
of Fostoria; a sister, Ada Louise Shipman of Florida; eight
grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
A sister, Helen Gregg, also is
deceased.
Mrs. Hollenbaugh, a homemaker,
retired in 1982 as a nurse from Fostoria Community Hospital,
where she had been employed for 30 years.. She was a member
of Rehoboth Methodist Church, rural Fostoria.
The Rev. Gary Staat will conduct
the 2 p.m. Saturday service in the Mann-Hare Funeral Home, Fostoria.
Interment will be in Fountain Cemetery, Fostoria.
There will be no visitation.

for Robert E. "Bob" Hogan, 69, of Walnut Street, Fostoria,
will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Harrold-Floriana Funeral
Home, Fostoria, the Rev. Karl Kessler officiating. Burial
will be in Knollcrest Cemetery, near Arcadia, where military
honors will be conducted by the joint veteran groups in Fostoria.

Mr. Hogan died at 5:55 p.m. Tuesday,
April 4, 2000 at Blanchard Valley Regional Health Center,
Findlay.
He was born Jan. 21, 1931 in
Columbus to Herald and Claudia (Nicholson) Hogan. He married
Donna Miller, and they divorced. He then married Dorothy Dible
on March 24, 1984 in Bucyrus, and she survives.
Also surviving are a son, Dennis
of Fostoria; a daughter, Sandra Jurrus, Fostoria; a stepson,
Bob Dible, Bucyrus; two stepdaughters, Linda Maxwell in New
Mexico; Judy Dible, Bucyrus; a sister, June Baker, Fostoria;
two grandchildren; a great-grandchild; five step-grandchildren;
and two step-great-grandchildren.
Mr. Hogan retired in 1991 from
Gray Printing Co., Fostoria, where he worked for more than
30 years.
He was a member of Hope Lutheran
Church, and the Elks, Moose, American Legion and VFW, all
in Fostoria.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran and
served in the Korean conflict. He graduated in 1949 from Fostoria
High School.

Gerald L. Huston, 77, died at
5:30 a.m. Sunday, April 16, 2000, at his home at 2 Teakwood
Drive.
He was born March 26, 1923, in
Kenton, to Harry C. and MIldred (Lytle) Huston. On June 3,
1949, in the Second United Church of Christ, Tiffin, he married
his wife of 50 years, Mina Belle (Day) Huston, who survives.
Survivors also include: two sons,
Harry "Bud" Huston of Marion and Steven Huston of Tiffin;
a daughter, Cynthia Feasel of Tiffin; seven grandchildren;
13 great-grandchildren; and a step-brother, James Gockerman
of Bradenton, Fla.
A great-grandchild and a brother,
Harry Arnold Huston, also are deceased.
Mr. Huston, a World War II U.S.
Army Corp of Engineers veteran, retired as a machinist from
General Electric.
A 1940 graduate of Fostoria High
School, he was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church,
its Kum Double Class,Tiffin VFW and Eagles and the Senior
Citizen TRIAD, where he served as past officer.
He was formerly a reserve officer
for the Seneca County Sheriff's Office and Tiffin Police Department
and served as a Tiffin E.M.T.
The Rev. Gail Angel will be the
officiant at the 10:30 a.m. Tuesday service in the Turner-Engle
Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, where
military graveside services will be conducted by the United
Veterans Council.

for Harley E. Holzwart, 93, of Kirby, and formerly of County

Upper Sandusky.

Mr. Holzwart died at 10:45 a.m.
Monday, April 17, 2000 at Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus.
He was born March 26, 1907 in Mifflin
Township, Wyandot County to John and Margaret (Karch) Holzwart.
He married Marie Wentz on June 22, 1933 in Greenup, Ky., and
she survives.
Other survivors include a son,
Wayne E. of Upper Sandusky; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren;
and a sister, Edith Jones, Fostoria.
He was preceded in death by a son,
Louis E.; and two brothers, Irvin and George.
Mr. Holzwart was a third-generation
farmer in Mifflin Township, and was also a Schoenberger Cemetery
trustee for many years.
He had attended Oak Run one room
school house in Mifflin Township. He was a member of Bethany/North
Salem Lutheran Church, Upper Sandusky, where he served as church
custodian, was on the council, and had been the financial secretary.
He was a former member of Lutheran Brotherhood and Wyandot County
Sportmans Club.

Retired Seneca County farmer
Ralph R. Hemminger, 75, of 8628 W. CR 18, Fostoria,
died at 5:22 p.m. Sunday, April 23, 2000, in Fostoria Community
Hospital.
He was born Feb. 1, 1925, in Seneca County, to
Roy and Flossie (Nederhouser) Hemminger. On March 23, 1947, in
Hope Lutheran Church, Fostoria, he married Jewel A. Myers. She
survives in Fostoria.
Survivors also include: two sons, Stephen R. and
Robert L. Hemminger, both of Tiffin; a sister, Thelma Rhoad of
Fostoria; seven grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.
Two brothers, Ronald and Erlin Hemminger; and
a sister, Betty Bethel, are deceased.
Mr. Hemminger, a retired Seneca County farmer,
served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and in the Korean
Conflict.
A 1943 graduate of Jackson High School, Amsden,
he was a member of Hope Lutheran Church, American Legion Post
73 and VFW Post 421, all of Fostoria.
The Rev. Carl Kessler will conduct the 10:30 a.m.

Mr. Hiser died at 3:39 p.m. Friday, May 19, 2000
in a grain elevator accident at the Blanchard Valley Cooperative
on Township Road 115, Shawtown.
He was born Nov. 2, 1978 in Findlay to Dan L. and
Karen L. (Dickman) Hiser, who survive in Van Buren. He married
Allison M. Jarvis on Nov. 1, 1997 in Findlay, and she survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Brandon K. and Jacob
L., both of Findlay; two brothers, Scott D. and Chad M., both
of Van Buren; maternal grandparents, Don and Luella Dickman, Glandorf;
and a paternal grandfather and step-grandmother, William D. and
Ann Hiser, Fostoria.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Amy M. Hiser.
Mr. Hiser was the plant supervisor at the Shawtown
branch of the Blanchard Valley Cooperative.
He was a 1997 graduate of Van Buren High School,
and attended Owens Community College. While in high school, he
was active in Future Farmers of America and 4-H. He was also a
former soccer referee.
He was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church.

Margaret Louise Janes, 87, of 22 LaPlas, died
at 4:15 a.m. Friday, June 2, 2000 at her residence.
She was born Dec. 7, 1912 in Marion, Ind. to Martin
and Lacey (Newport) Moore. She married Claude M. Janes Sr. on
Nov. 8, 1931, and he died Nov. 28, 1997.
Survivors include five daughters, Mrs. Robert
(Peggy) Ramsey, Fostoria; Mrs. John (Suzanne) Kilpatrick, Mrs.
Eugene (Barbara) Treece and Mrs. Dennis (Terri) LaRocco, all of
Findlay; and Mrs. Don (Nancy) Roode, Clearwater, Fla.; two sons,
Claude M. Jr. of Findlay; and Donald R. of Miamisburg; 26 grandchildren;
and 41 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by an infant daughter,
Sondra Lee Janes.
Mrs. Janes was co-owner and operator of Janes
Melody Shoppe in Findlay with her husband until the late 1940s.
At one time she had also operated J. & J. Orchards fruit farm
in Port Clinton.
She was a 1929 graduate of Marion (Ind.) High
School. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and Findlay
Chapter 23 OES.

at Kirkpatrick-Behnke Funeral Home, the Rev. Harris Schultz officiating.

Edward W. Jordan,76, of Old Orchard Drive, Fostoria,
died Thursday afternoon, June 8, 2000, at his home.
Mr. Jordan was born June 21, 1923, in Risingsun
to William and Lenore (House) Jordan. He married Genevieve A.
Johnson on April 16, 1971, in Fostoria, and she died in February
of 1995.
Survivors include: two brothers, Charles and Chet
Jordan both of Fostoria; six sisters, Ida Deweese of The Plains,
Eleanor Burrows of Haskins, Jeanette Marshall and Joyce Martin
both of Columbus, Donna Kirk of Bradner, and Marlene Zallar of
Fostoria.
He was an employee of the C & O Railroad and
retired in 1985 with over 40 years of service; and a member of
the First Church of Nazarene in Fostoria.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at
the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home, Fostoria, with the Rev. Russell
Gumm officiating. Burial will be in Fountain Cemetery in Fostoria.

Janet Mary Hager, 70, died at 4:15 p.m. Tuesday,
June 13, 2000, at her residence at 25 Duchess Court.
She was born April 25, 1930, in Tiffin, to the
late John and Stella (Hoover) Fleming. On Jan. 22, 1949, in Greenup,
Ky., she married Myron E. Hager. He survives.
Other survivors include: two sons, Roger Leroy
Hager of Bellefontaine and Allen Eugene Hager of Fostoria; a daughter,
Penny Kay Miller of Sanger, Texas; two sisters, Rosemary Cook
of Tiffin and Martha Fleming of Upper Sandusky; a brother, Lawrence
Albert Fleming of Upper Sandusky; 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death were a brother, John
Lawrence Fleming; and a granddaughter.
Mrs. Hager, a homemaker, also worked for 28 years
as a glass worker at the former Tiffin Glass Co.
She was a member of the First Church of God, Risingsun
and Women of the Moose, Fostoria.
The Rev. Paul Rutledge will be the officiant at
the 10:30 a.m. Friday service in the Hannay-Traunero Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Seneca Memory Gardens.

and Tere Hanson, Peoria, Ariz; a brother William J. Hanson, Edina
Minnesota; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

was the former owner of Hanson Distributing Company in Fostoria.

Aaron M. Hille, 10, of 1730 TR 22, Risingsun,
died at 11:19 p.m. Tuesday, June 27, 2000, in St. Vincent Mercy
Medical Center, Toledo, following a three-wheeler accident on
CR 33 in Sandusky County.
He was born July 24, 1989, in Fostoria, to Tobin
L. "Toby" and Kristine "Kris" (Hiser) Hille, who survive in Risingsun.

Club. He also worked with ducks at Maple Leaf Farm, showed prize
winning dairy steer at the Sandusky County Junior Fair and enjoyed
farming.
Pastor Paul Rutledge will be the officiant at
the 1:30 p.m. Friday service in the First Church of God, Risingsun.

Mabel G. Holcomb, 93, formerly of Findlay and
Bradner, died
at 11:55 a.m. Monday, July 3, 2000, in the Independence
House, 1000 Independence Ave., Fostoria, where she resided.
She was born Nov. 17, 1906, in Bowling Green,
to Charlie and May (Reed) Silverwood. Her husband, Harry A. Holcomb,
whom she married June 26, 1928, in Gibsonburg, preceded her in
death April 3, 1961.
A sister, Katie McCoy of Bradner, survives.
Also preceding her in death were a brother, Cloyce
Silverwood; and two sisters, Roberta Rhoades and Leona Loucks.
Mrs. Holcomb, a graduate of Bradner High School,
had been employed as an inspector at the former General Electric
in Tiffin, for 20 years.
She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church,
Fostoria.
The Rev. Branson J. Hawkes will conduct the 10:30
a.m. Friday service in the Mann-Hare Funeral Home, Fostoria. Interment
will be in Fountain Cemetery, Fostoria.

Bayard Preston "Bud" Herndon, 91, of 404 Glenview
Drive, Fostoria, formerly of Findlay and Tecumseh, Mich., died
at 7:45 a.m. Sunday, July 16, 2000, in the Fostoria Community
Hospital.
He was born Aug. 12, 1908, in Columbus, Ind., to
Alvin G. and Margaret (Marquart) Herndon. His wife, Marie F. (Harbourne)
Herndon, whom he married July 26, 1930, in Louisville, Ky., survives
in Fostoria.
Survivors also include: a son, Dr. Bayard P. Herndon
II of Hooksett, N.H.; two daughters, Mrs. John (Laura M.) Noble
and Linda L. Herndon, both of Fostoria; two sisters, Janice Ross
and Janece Hartman, both of Indianapolis, Ind.; four grandchildren
and seven great-grandchildren.
Also preceding him in death were a grandchild; two
brothers, Paul and James Herndon; and two sisters, Laura Mildred
Burge and Neva Shaw.
Mr. Herndon retired in 1973 as general manager of
Tecumseh Products, Tucumseh, after 18 years of service. He had
previously been employed as vice president of Peerless Gear and
Machine in Dunkirk, Ohio, where he had worked for more than 20
years.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church and
the Masonic Temple, Findlay.
Services will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday in the Mann-Hare
Funeral Home, Fostoria. Interment will take place in Vallonia,
Ind.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service
Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Johnson died at 3:15 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 2,
2000 at St. Mary's Mercy Medical Center, Grand Rapids, Mich.
She was born Sept. 20, 1919 in Ada to Frank and
Alda (McGinnis) Tremain. She married Cleatus L. "Vern" Johnson
on July 15, 1939 in Findlay, and he died Feb. 15, 1997.

Shores, Mich.; a daughter, Marsha Johnson Bullian, East Grand
Rapids, Mich.; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two
sisters, Marguerite Taylor, Fostoria; and Jean Ann Jackson, Lima;
and a brother, Marion F. Tremain, Belle Center.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Miriam
Tremain.
Mrs. Johnson was a homemaker.

Former Tiffin centenarian
Harriet L. Harding, 100, formerly of the Kiwanis
Manor, died at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2000, in the Good Shepherd
Nursing Home, Fostoria, where she had resided since 1992.
She was born Nov. 7, 1899, in Tiffin, to Harry
F. and Iva Mae (Wolf) Bloom. In 1926, in Tiffin, she married Oliver
P. Harding, who preceded her in death in 1978.
Surviving are a son, Verne D. Harding of Fostoria;
four grandchildren, David S. Harding of Lima, Jeffrey B. Harding
of Temperance, Mich., Mrs.Jeffrey (Beth A.) Lofay of Rochester
Hills, Mich., and Mrs. Charles (Amy R.) Kramb of Toledo; and five
great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Harding, a graduate of Columbian High School,
was a homemaker.
A member of the First Lutheran Church, she also
had worked at Hayden Drug Store for 10 years.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the
Turner-Engle Funeral Home. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery.

She was born Oct. 29, 1922 in Wilkes-Barre,

Seghbroeck, and they were divorced.

Lopez, Kendallville, Ind.; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren;

Ruth Kennedy, Wilkes-Barre, Pa.
Ms. Hart was a former employee of Auto-Lite,

Amos Hiser, 84, of Mineola, Texas, formerly of McCutchenville,
died Friday, Sept. 1, 2000, in Texas.
He was born Dec. 12, 1915, in Fostoria, to Marion
Boyd and Edna (Amos) Hiser. His wife, Marjorie (Might) Hiser,
also is deceased.
Survivors include: a son, Gary Hiser of Mineola;
a grandchild; four great-grandchildren; and a brother, William
Hiser of Fostoria.
Also preceding him in death were a son, Ned Hiser;
a sister, Cecyle O'Brien; and two brothers, Donovan and Albert
Hiser.
A member of the Lutheran faith, he retired as a
traffic manager from Glidden Paint in Cleveland. He also was a
retired music teacher.
Mr. Hiser, a musician in the Big Band era, formed
his own group in the Fostoria area called "The 4 Sharps."
The Rev. Karl Kessler will be the officiant at the
10:30 a.m. Thursday service in the Hoening Funeral Home, Fostoria.
Interment will be in Fountain Cemetery, Fostoria.

WARSAW, Ind. -- Dale Everett Hartranft, 79, of
5 EMS Lane C 28 A, Warsaw, Ind., and formerly of Fostoria, died
at 4:34 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 3, 2000 at Kosciusko Community Hospital,
Warsaw, Ind.
He was born Nov. 21, 1920 in Van Buren to Everett
and Eve (Huntsman) Hartranft. He married Beverly J. Kiefer on
April 18, 1947, and she died in 1990.
Surviving are a daughter, Rebecca A. Grossman,
Indianapolis, Ind.; a son Stephen D. of Indianapolis, Ind.; four
grandchildren; two sisters, Anna Mae Dysinger and Dorotha Dukes,
both of Findlay; and a brother, Carl in Florida.
Mr. Hartranft was retired from grain agriculture
sales with the Ohio Farmer Grain Corp.
He attended First Presbyterian Church of Warsaw,
Ind.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Catherine "Betty" E. Hirt (Haas), 85, formerly
of N. Fifth St., Fremont, died Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2000 in
Mercy Hospital of Tiffin. She was born Sept. 20, 1914 in Sandusky
County to Frank and Carrie (Williams) Haas. On Dec. 12, 1936
she married Russell Hirt at Grace Lutheran Church, Fremont,
he died July 24, 1984.
Surviving include: three sons, Douglas A. Hirt
of Fostoria, Gary L. Hirt of Bellevue, and Bruce N. Hirt of
Fremont; two daughters, Jacqueline Diekman-Hawk of Perrysburg,
and Carol Glick of Green Springs; 14 grandchildren; and 23 great
grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by: four brothers,
Carl, Richard and William Haas and Francis Neuman; and two grandchildren.
Mrs. Hirt was a 1932 graduate of Fremont Ross
High School. She was employed by Hilt Insurance Company and
the Farm Loan Association until she married, then was a homemaker.
A member of Grace Lutheran Church, the Hope Circle and the Inbetweeners
at the church. She also loved playing the piano, cards and genealogy.
The Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m.
Saturday, Sept. 16, 2000 at the Wonderly-Horvath Funeral Home.
Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery, Fremont.

Shirley J. "Brenda" Houck, 47, of 1326 S. TR,
Fostoria, died at 11:50 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 17, 2000, in the
Toledo Hospital.
She was born Jan. 22, 1953, in Stopover, Ky.,
to the late Troy and Louvenia (Charles) Blankenship. She first
married Jerry Spitnale in 1975, and they divorced in 1988. On
July 18, 1997, she married Michael J. Houck, who survives.
Survivors also include: a son, Terry L. Spitnale
of Gilboa; two step-sons, Michael J. Houck of Bloomville and
Nathan J. Houck of Tiffin; a daughter, Mrs. Jesse J. (Carrie
A.) Erb of rural Arlington; a step-daughter, Nicole Houck, at
home; a granddaughter; and 10 brothers and sisters..
She also was preceded in death by two brothers
and a sister.
Mrs. Houck, a member of West Independence United
Methodist Church, worked as a fabricator for 24 years at Kuss
Corp. in Findlay.
The Rev. Jeffrey Raker will be the officiate
at the 1 p.m. Wednesday service in West Independence United
Methodist Church. Interment will be in Union Cemetery, West
Independence.

Fostoria, died at 2:05 a.m. Friday, Oct. 20, 2000, in St. Vincent-Mercy
Medical Center, Toledo.
He was born April 12, 1918, in Forest, to Rollie
and Lola (Parrish) Helms. His wife, June C. (Harding) Helms,
whom he married Jan. 20, 1940, in Decatur, Ind., survives in
Fostoria.
Other survivors include: a son, Richard T. Helms
of Fostoria; a daughter, Mrs. Charles (Virginia J.) Potteiger
of Fostoria; two brothers, Delos Helms of Crestview, Fla. and
Paul Helms of Arlington, Texas; six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren
and a step-great-grandchild.
Five brothers, Eugene, Rollie Jr., Dale, Rex
and Forrest Helms, also are deceased.
Mr. Helms, a member of Hope Lutheran Church,
Fostoria, was employed as a distributor for Union Oil Co. in
Fostoria and the sorrounding area for 30 years, retiring in
1974.
He also worked for Buckeye Auto Parts in Fostoria
for 10 years, following his retirement.

Ethel K. Heins, 92, of Quail Drive, Fremont,
died early Saturday morning, Oct. 21, 2000, at her daughter's
home in Bettsville.
She was born Sept. 26, 1908, in Woodville Township,
to John Alfred and Mary Ellen (Gaster) Hovis. Her husband, Martin
H. Heins, whom she married June 30, 1928, died Oct. 23, 1970.
Surviving are: two daughters, Lorna M. Garn
of Marblehead and Ronda R. Krotzer of Bettsville; two sons,
James M. Heins of Fremont and John A. Heins of Tiffin; a brother,
John Hovis of Elmore; two sisters, Bertha Henry of Elmore and
Joyce Huffman of Fostoria; 18 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren;
and two great-great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by a daughter,
Geraldine Saam Rodabaugh; two sisters, Edith Seeger and Doris
Wheatley; and two brothers, Ward and Wayne Hovis.
Mrs. Heins, a 1926 graduate of Woodville High
School, was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and its Altar
Guild.
She also was a member of the Sandusky County
Farm Bureau, Wolf Creek Circle, State Farm Women's Club and
the County Farm Women's Club, where she had served as past president.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the
Nopper-Karlovetz Mortuary, Fremont. Burial will be in Greenlawn
Memory Gardens, Clyde.

Andrew Hay, 36, of Bannister Street, Fostoria, will be held
at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Faith Tabernacle Pentecostal Church
of God, Fostoria, the Rev. Donald Goodwin officiating.

Mr. Hay died Friday morning Oct. 27, 2000 from
injuries suffered in a single-car accident on Ohio 613.
He was born March 22, 1964 in East Stroudsburg,
Pa. to Frew and Ida (Seese) Hay, and they survive in Dade City.

Dade City, Fla.; a daughter, Breanna Sue Hay, Fostoria; two
brothers, John in Illinois; and James in Italy; two sisters,

Harry D. Hawk Sr., 87, died at 11:22 p.m. Sunday,
Nov. 12, 2000, at his home on W. TR 36, Kansas, Ohio.
He was born Sept. 16, 1913, in Galipolis, to
August and Rome (Ward) Hawk. His wife, Augusta M. (Smiley) Hawk,
whom he married June 1, 1936, in Tiffin, died Sept. 27, 1990.
Surviving are: a son, Harry D. Hawk Jr. of Kansas;
three daughters, Mrs. Walter (Joyce) Haubert and Mrs. Earl (Phyllis)
Broadwater, both of Kansas, and Mrs. Robert (Marjorie) Bergstedt
of Fostoria; a brother, Johnie Hawk of Bascom; 10 grandchildren
and 17 great-grandchildren.
Two brothers, Warren and Charles Hawk; two sisters,
Mable Niswander and Minnie Smiley; a grandchild and a great-grandchild
also preceded him in death.
Mr. Hawk, a 1921 graduate of Fostoria High School,
retired in 1974 from the Atlas Crankshaft Co. in Fostoria. Prior
to that he worked as a farmer.
He was a member of Kansas United Methodist Church.

Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home, Fostoria, with the Rev. Ivan
Schwenn officiating. Burial will be in Fountain Cemetery, Fostoria.

Geraldine Joseph, 93, formerly of Miami Street,
Tiffin, died at 4:45 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2000, in the Good
Shepherd Nursing Home, Fostoria, where she was a resident.
She was born Dec. 6, 1906, in Fostoria,
to John and Cora (Miller) Bradner. Her husband, Oscar C. Joseph,
whom she married July 3, 1925, in Fostoria, died Sept. 20,1969.
Surviving are a son, Charles W. Joseph
of Bettsville; a daughter, Caroline Woessner of Fostoria; 10
grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death were
her adoptive parents, Wilbur and Rachael Sutliff; and a son,
Thomas L. Joseph.
A homemaker, Mrs. Joseph was a member

Avera Queen of Peace Hospital Mitchell, S.D.
She was born March 11, 1946 in Findlay to
Donald Hunker and Vauda (Clary) Hunker. She married Donald
Hiadky on Oct. 15, 1966 at Hope Lutheran Church, Fostoria,
and he survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Dawn Fiscus,
Freemont, Neb.; a brother, Bob Hunker, Fostoria; six sisters,
Ila Dick, LaFeria, Texas; Nancy Wright, Vickery' Rosie Weilker,
West Millgrove; Karen Keckler, Risingsun; June Anderson, Aston,
Pa; and Jane Kleba, Fostoria; and four grandchildren.
She was preceeded in death by an infant daughter.
Ms. Hiadky and her husband both graduated
from Omaha Lutheran Bible school, Omaha Neb. She worked
at a sporting goods store in Nebraska until moving to Wanblee,
S.D. where her husband and she worked as missionaries
serving the Oglala Lakota

Kadoka, S.D., Pastor Gary McCubbin officiating. Burial was
in Black Hills National Cemetery, Sturgis, S.D.

Albert F. "Al" Hammer, 72, of Fostoria died
at 6:34 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 23, 2000, in Blanchard Valley
Regional Health Center, Findlay.
He was born Aug. 15, 1928, in Fostoria to
Frank S. and Mary (Host) Hammer. He married Mildred M. Hull
on Jan. 15, 1949, in St. Wendelin's Church, Fostoria, and
she survives in Fostoria.
Other survivors include: a son, David L. of
Fostoria; two daughters, Mrs. John (Cynthia) Broaddus of Downingtown,
Pa., and Mrs. Gary J. (Barbara) Reinhart of Fostoria; seven
grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; three brothers, Ralph
and Alvin of Fostoria and Melvin of Fremont; and two sisters,
Alice Hark and Mrs. Harold (Mary) Adelsperger, both of Fostoria.
He retired in 1991 as a pressman from the
Review Times after 43 years and was a member of St. Wendelin
Catholic Church, Fostoria Eagles, Fostoria American Legion,
and Knights of Columbus Council 1197, Fostoria Third Degree.

at St. Wendelin's Catholic Church followed by Mass of Christian
Burial at 11 a.m. with burial in St. Wendelin Parish Cemetery.

John Harper Jones, 37, of Fremont, died Tuesday,
Nov. 28, 2000, as the result of injuries sustained in an automobile
accident in Columbus.
He was born June 14, 1963, in Lambert, Miss.,
to Jeremiah and Mary (Williams) Jones. His mother survives
in Fremont. His wife, Donna Jones, also survives in Columbus.
Other survivors include: a son, Johnny Molina
of Gibsonburg; seven brothers, Jerry Jr., Larry Wayne and
Charles Jones, all of Fremont, Johnnie Lee, Eddie and Archie
Jones, all of Lexington, Ky. and McKinley Jones of Fostoria;

Liz Cooks, Diane Heard, Loretta Johnson and Jackie Jones,
all of Fremont, Jacqueline Gross and Valerie Pride, both of

He was preceded in death by his father; and

Mr. Jones, who attended Ross High School,

Teresa Hoyer, 36, of East Center St., Fostoria,
died at 9:55 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2000 at Fostoria Community
Hospital. She was born Feb. 12, 1964 in Fostoria to Bruno
and Herminia (Martinez) Guerra, Sr., both preceded her in
death. On Oct. 14, 1995 she married Robert "Kent" Hoyer, and
he survives.
Other survivors include: two sons, Alexjandro
and Javier Hoyer of Fostoria; a brother, Bruno Guerra, Jr.,
of Garland, Tex.; two sisters, Lupe Zapien of Findlay and
Virginia Guerra of Fostoria.
She was preceded in death by: a brother, Ricardo
Guerra and a sister, Juanita Sanchez.
Mrs. Hoyer was a Class of 1982 graduate of
Fostoria High School. She worked as a sales clerk for Ames
Department Store in Findlay.

Fostoria homemaker
Dorothy M. Hohman, 84, of 315 Anderson Ave.,
Fostoria, died at 4:25 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2000, in Fostoria
Community Hospital.
She was born March 16, 1916, in Fostoria,
to Geuy and Hattie (Mills) Munro. On April 12, 1942, in St.
Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria, she married Arthur P.
Hohman, who died June 14, 1983.
Surviving are six sons, George, Charles, Anthony
Sr. and Patrick Hohman, all of Fostoria and Timothy Vernon
and Daryl Hohman, address unknown; five daughters, Joan Hohman,
Mrs. John (Patty) Perry and Denise Ruth Hohman, all of Fostoria;
and Barbara Ann and Laura Elizabeth Hohman, address unknown;
10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Two brothers, Robert and Lee Munro, also are
deceased.
Mrs. Hohman, a homemaker, was a member of
St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place
at 10:30 a.m. Friday in St. Wendelin Catholic Church. The
rosary will be prayed at the church at 10 a.m. Friday. Burial
will be in the parish cemetery.
Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Thursday in the
Hoening Funeral Home, Fostoria, where a Christian wake service
will be at 8:30 p.m.

FOSTORIA -- Graveside services for Angel Marie
Emahiser-Hutchins, who was stillborn at 8:10 a.m. Saturday,
Dec. 23, 2000 at Fostoria Community Hospital, will be held
at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Fountain Cemetery, Fostoria, the Rev.
Jeffrey L. Waite officiating.
No visitation will be held.
Angel is survived by her parents, Tracy Emahiser
and David Hutchins of Fostoria; a sister, Chelsea Mae Hutchins,
Tiffin; maternal grandparents Kenneth and Shirley Emahiser,
Fostoria; maternal great-grandparents Denton Goodin Jr., Parkers
Lake, Ky.; and Dorothy Dull, Republic; paternal grandparents
Roland and Barbara Hutchins, Fostoria; and paternal great-grandparents
Dorothy McElhany, Fremont; and Erma Hutchins, Fostoria.
